Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Lands four-year extension
    10h ago

Stevenson has agreed to a four-year extension with the Patriots, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Per Schefter, Stevenson's deal is for $36 million, of which $17 million is reportedly guaranteed. The move to extend the 2021 fourth-rounder beyond his current pact solidifies the Patriots backfield ahead of Jerod Mayo's first season as head coach, and with the team transitioning at the QB position, look for Stevenson and fellow RB Antonio Gibson to be key drivers of New England's offense in 2024. Over the course of 12 regular-season games last season, Stevenson logged 156 carries for 619 yards and four touchdowns to go along with 38 catches for 238 yards on 51 targets. As training camp approaches, the 26-year-old has moved past the ankle issue that cost him time down the stretch in 2023, with Stevenson's new contract terms reflecting his continued status as his team's lead back.

Higbee hurt his knee during the Rams' wild-card loss to the Lions on Jan. 14, and given the timing and nature of the injury, it seems likely that the tight end will start training camp on the PUP list. Beyond that, added context regarding Higbee's chances of suiting up early on this season should arrive once he approaches a return to the practice field, but if he's unavailable come Week 1, Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen and Hunter Long would be in line to handle Los Angeles' TE duties out of the gate in 2024.

Cardinals' Marvin Harrison: Early offseason standout
    11h ago

Harrison has impressed throughout OTAs and mandatory minicamp and quickly solidified himself as the top option in Arizona's wide receiver room, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN reports.

Harrison was fully expected to ascend as the No. 1 target for quarterback Kyler Murray upon being chosen No. 4 overall in April's draft, so it's no surprise that his offseason transition to the NFL has been "pretty seamless," per coach Jonathan Gannon, who also said the rookie has been "everything I expected." By all reports, Harrison has had no issues picking up Arizona's playbook, with positional mate Michael Wilson calling him "very perspicacious," saying "I truly think sky's the limit for [Harrison]." Tight end Trey McBride may represent more real competition for targets than fellow wideouts Wilson or Greg Dortch, but it's easy to envision a scenario where the Cardinals' passing offense is heavily filtered through its top two targets. The biggest question for Harrison will be whether he can live up to his hype immediately, as his ADP has already risen to the early second round of most 2024 fantasy drafts.

Kittle had core muscle surgery after the Super Bowl and was also recovering from shoulder and rib injuries at the time -- a combination that prevented him from doing both upper- and lower-body weightlifting for about a month. He said he's "almost back to 100 percent" and has regained most of the lost weight, but he still wants to add about 10 more pounds before the start of the regular season. It sounds like Kittle will be ready for the beginning of training camp in late July.

While Wilson still has time to make an impression during training camp and the preseason, it sounds like he's currently positioned to be the No. 3 QB or even released. The Broncos acquired him in April for a late-round pick swap, trading down from No. 203 to 256 while taking on only half of Wilson's $5.5 million salary from the Jets.

Lawrence's new deal includes $200 million guaranteed, including $142 million at signing, and the average annual value of $55 million matches Joe Burrow's NFL-leading mark. After Jacksonville extended the fifth-year opinion on Lawrence's rookie contract this spring, it was only a matter of time before the two sides reached an agreement to keep the first overall pick in the 2021 Draft in Duval for the foreseeable future. Hill agreed to restructure his contract Tuesday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.

It's a simple restructure, converting 2024 base salary into a signing bonus to push some of his cap hit from the current season into future years. Early reports from training camp suggested new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak was giving Hill more chances as a running back or fullback, but Hill could now see a lot of snaps at tight end following Thursday's announcement that Juwan Johnson will need foot surgery. The Saints hope Johnson will be ready by Week 1, but it sounds like that's far from a sure thing. Either way, it may be tough to get a good read on Hill's role under a new coordinator until the season is actually underway.

Allen said Tuesday that he's working on improving his throwing motion this offseason, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.

Allen noted that the changes have felt really good at times and not so good at others. He injured his right shoulder Week 6 last season but still managed to play every game for a fifth straight year, and he confirmed in late January that he wouldn't need surgery. Some of what he's working on this offseason is returning to his pre-injury mechanics after the shoulder discomfort led to a lower, wider motion in 2023. The other big change will come in his receiving corps, with Khalil Shakir the only wideout on the roster that's ever caught a pass from Allen. The Bills parted ways with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason and brought in Curtis Samuel, second-round pick Keon Coleman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool and Mack Hollins. Meanwhile, Allen and offensive coordinator Joe Brady will have continuity at running back (James Cook, Ty Johnson), tight end (Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox) and along the offensive line (four of five starters returning).

Burrow (wrist) said Tuesday that he'll be ready for the start of the season but doesn't want to put a percentage on his rehab progress, Charlie Clifford of WLWT News 5 Cincinnati reports.

Burrow hinted at a more cautious approach with his surgically repaired right wrist than he had with past injuries, noting that he should have "taken more time" after he suffered a calf injury last summer. He averaged just 182 passing yards and 0.5 touchdowns over the first four weeks of the season, but he rebounded in a big way with averages of 296 yards and 2.4 touchdowns over the next five games before he suffered the season-ending wrist injury Week 11. He had surgery Nov. 27 to repair a torn ligament in his wrist, and by early May, he was cleared for everything besides taking contact. Burrow has been lifting weights for more than three months and throwing footballs for more than a month, but he doesn't sound like he'll push himself too hard this summer, at least not until training camp opens in late July.

Achane has prioritized improving his route running this offseason and could earn more opportunities to line up out wide in Year 2, David Furones of the Sun Sentinel reports.

Achane said during June mandatory minicamp he's been "lining up at different positions, as far as like receiver, running routes and stuff," calling those drills "something that we're doing different this year." The second-year pro, who logged record-breaking efficiency during his rookie season, said that in addition to becoming a more versatile pass catcher, his priority this offseason has been adding muscle in order to better avoid injury. Achane will have to compete with position mates Raheem Mostert and rookie Jaylen Wright for touches during the 2024 campaign, so it would be encouraging to see him develop into a capable enough receiver to catch passes out wide, rather than only out of the backfield. Despite the Dolphins looking primed to deploy a backfield committee, Achane's explosiveness and big-play ability make it easy to project a high fantasy ceiling in 2024. If he's indeed able to improve his versatility and durability this offseason, that could also give him a more consistent floor.
