  • Connor Joe 1B | PIT

Pirates' Connor Joe: Delivers extra-inning HR

Joe went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored during Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Cubs.

Joe spearheaded the Pirates' comeback effort, plating Oneil Cruz on a leadoff homer in the bottom of the 10th inning. However, his long ball wasn't enough, as Pittsburgh trailed by three entering the frame. Joe has gone yard in back-to-back games, bringing his season total up to five in 134 plate appearances.

  • Mike Soroka SP | CHW

White Sox's Michael Soroka: Falls to 0-5

Soroka (0-5) yielded five runs (four earned) on four hits and a walk over 5.1 innings Sunday, striking out four and taking a loss against Cleveland.

Soroka gave up one run through three innings before stumbling in the fourth. He coughed up two homers in the frame, including a two-run shot by David Fry. Soroka has coughed up at least one home run in eight of his nine starts this season. On a more positive note, Sunday was the first time he'd issued fewer than two walks since April 4. Soroka now owns a 6.39 ERA with a 24:24 K:BB through 43.2 frames. His next start is projected to be a road matchup with the Yankees.

  • Yu Darvish SP | SD

Padres' Yu Darvish: Silences Dodgers over seven frames

Darvish (3-1) earned the win over the Dodgers on Sunday after firing seven shutout innings and allowing just two hits and a walk. He struck out seven.

Darvish extended his scoreless innings streak to 17 innings in another dominant outing since returning from the injured list April 30. He retired the first 14 hitters he faced in order until walking Andy Pages with two outs in the fifth. Darvish generated an excellent 19 whiffs and tied his season high with seven strikeouts. The 37-year-old owns a 2.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB in 40.2 innings and lines up for another tough task against Atlanta his next time out.

  • Bailey Falter SP | PIT

Pirates' Bailey Falter: Impresses in no-decision

Falter didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Cubs, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks across six innings. He struck out one.

Falter generated his third quality start of the campaign; however, he tied his season low in strikeouts and surrendered a homer for a fifth consecutive start. The long ball was a first-inning, two-run home run by Christopher Morel. During his last five starts, Falter owns a 4.13 ERA with 21 strikeouts across 28.1 innings. He's scheduled to make his next start during a four-game road series with the Cubs next week.

  • Guardians' Logan Allen: Rebounds against White Sox

Allen (4-2) yielded six hits and a walk over shut scoreless frames Sunday, striking out three and earning a win over the White Sox.

Allen wasn't incredibly sharp Sunday but was able to work out of multiple sticky situations while Cleveland combined for a shutout against the White Sox. It was a much-needed bounceback after he was tagged with seven runs in just 2.1 innings against Detroit in his last start. Allen forced 11 whiffs Sunday, his highest total since his season debut March 29. It was his first scoreless outing since April 3, which was also the last time he completed at least six frames. Allen is sporting a 5.56 ERA with a 36:15 K:BB through 45.1 innings. His next start is currently lined up to be at home against the Twins.

  • Walker Buehler SP | LAD

Dodgers' Walker Buehler: Gives up two home runs

Buehler (0-1) took the loss Sunday against the Padres, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two in 3.1 innings.

The majority of the damage against Buehler came in the opening frame when Fernando Tatis and Jake Cronenworth smoked back-to-back solo home runs. Buehler would later exit with bases loaded and one out in the fourth and was charged with an additional run. He struggled with his command in another abbreviated start, throwing 45 of 77 pitches for strikes and did not generate many whiffs. Buehler will carry a 7.36 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 6:2 K:BB (7.1 innings) into a meeting with the Reds.

  • Jake McCarthy RF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jake McCarthy: Swats first homer of season

McCarthy went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Sunday's 9-2 win over the Orioles.

McCarthy went homerless in his 92 plate appearances this season before tagging Dean Kremer for a two-run shot in the sixth frame. Despite the power woes, McCarthy owns a .366 on-base percentage and has swiped three bases. He's also struck out merely three times in his last 29 plate appearances.

  • Willie Calhoun DH | LAA

Angels' Willie Calhoun: Three hits in loss

Calhoun went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Royals.

Calhoun was responsible for both of the Angels' runs in the game. The homer was his first with the team, and he's up to three RBI, six runs scored and a .333/.361/.606 slash line over 36 plate appearances since he was called up from Triple-A Salt Lake at the start of May. That productivity has helped him carve out a role as the Angels' primary designated hitter, though it's unlikely he'll be able to sustain his production in the long run.

  • Angels' Patrick Sandoval: Allows four runs in loss

Sandoval (2-6) gave up four runs on 11 hits and struck out three without walking a batter over six innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Royals.

The Royals went with death by a thousand cuts against Sandoval -- just one of the 11 hits went for extra bases. All four runs were surrendered in the fourth inning, and the southpaw kept runners off base in just one of his six frames. This was the fifth time in nine starts Sandoval has given up at least four runs. He's at a poor 5.00 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 48:17 K:BB through 45 innings this season. Sandoval is projected to make his next start on the road against the Rangers.

  • Orioles' Adley Rutschman: Goes yard

Rutschman went 1-for-4 with a solo homer during Sunday's 9-2 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Rutschman notched his sixth long ball of the campaign, tagging Zac Gallen for a solo home run in the sixth inning. After seeing his batting average jump from .254 to .277 last season, Rutschman has taken another step forward at the plate in 2024, slashing .304/.339/.453 with 23 RBI and 21 runs scored across 38 games.
