    The Red Sox have won nine games in a row, but the question is whether the All-Star break slowed their groove. Did the Red Sox forget about their daily mindset and routine after the 4-day All-Star break? They play Tampa Bay out of the gate to start the second half, who have beaten the Red Sox four straight meetings and six of seven. Griffin Jax has had some success lately and beat the Rays 8-4 his last time facing them on May 7, where he pitched four innings and allowed three runs. Left-handed Boston rookie pitcher Jake Bennett has a 2.64 ERA in eight career starts. The Rays have only won four of their last nine games. Red Sox to win.

    Analysis

    The Yankees offense started to wake back up before the break and it spurred a four-game winning streak. They'll love seeing Roki Sasaki (8.61 ERA last five starts), who is prone to walks and home runs. I'm also expecting a big second half from Gerrit Cole.

    Analysis

    I love betting Reid Detmers' strikeout totals at home - and it's been a profitable angle of late. Since May, Detmers has whiffed 8, 8, 14, 9, 8, and 5 batters in games played at Angel Stadium. While he hasn't pitched well in his last four starts, the extra rest from the All-Star Break should have been a welcome time for the left-hander. I think Detmers strikes out eight on Friday night to begin the second half.

    Analysis

    The Tigers are 22-14 since the start of June and won nine of 12 heading into the break. The road record is still bad, but they've won five of six on the road. Troy Melton (1.82 ERA in eight starts) vs. the maddeningly inconsistent Reid Detmers (7.40 ERA in his last four starts) means the pitching matchup favors the better team here, too.

    Analysis

    It's University of Arizona night at the ballpark so of course I had to buy tickets! I love the way the Diamondbacks played at the end of the first half, winning their last four games on the road, including a sweep of the Dodgers in Los Angeles. While the Cardinals were also impressive in the first half, I'm fading Friday night starter Michael McGreevy, who is 2-5 with a 4.20 ERA on the road this season. Arizona starter Merrill Kelly doesn't inspire a ton of confidence either, but the team has won both of his starts in July. The Diamondbacks win more often than not with me in attendance so I'll play the (unofficial) trend again on Friday.
