Taysom Hill: Unlikely to return to NOLA
    7h ago

Saints GM Mickey Loomis said Monday that the team has not offered Hill a contract to return to New Orleans, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.

It appears the team is moving on from the 35-year-old fan favorite. Hill has spent all nine seasons of his career with the Saints as a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none type of player who saw snaps at quarterback, running back, wide receiver and tight end across 118 career regular-season games. The free agent hasn't drawn any known interest this offseason after appearing in 13 contests last regular season. He rushed 52 times for 114 yards and one touchdown, averaging a career-low 2.2 yards per carry after averaging at least 5.0 yards per attempt in each of his previous eight campaigns.

Saints GM Mickey Loomis said Monday that the team will make a decision on Kamara's (knee) future with the team in "the next week or two," Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Loomis was mum on the subject, saying the Saints are "just trying to see how he's going to fit in on our roster," while adding that Kamara has not been offered a revamped contract. Kamara will turn 31 years old this summer and has spent his entire nine-year career with New Orleans, but the Saints signed Travis Etienne to a four-year, $48 million deal over the offseason. Both Kamara ($12.25 million per year) and Etienne ($12 million) are two of the 10 highest-paid running backs in the league, making it hard to envision the Saints paying both of them big money in 2026. Kamara has previously hinted that he'd only play for the Saints or retire. He averaged a career-worst 3.6 yards per carry on 131 attempts last season, rushing for just one touchdown. A once-prolific pass catcher out of the backfield, Kamara also averaged a career-low 5.6 yards per reception in 2025.

  • Jacoby Brissett ARI QB
Cardinals' Jacoby Brissett: Not present for voluntary OTAs
    9h ago

Brissett was not present for the start of voluntary OTAs on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The veteran quarterback has stayed away from the team this offseason, as he's seeking a raise for the 2026 campaign. Coming off a career year in 2025, which saw Brissett complete 315 of 485 passes (64.9 percent) for 3,366 yards, 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions, the 33-year-old is looking for more money and possibly more years on his contract. Brissett currently is scheduled to collect $5.44 million in 2026, which would put him 26th at the quarterback position. There's been no indication that Arizona is actively discussing a new deal with Brissett. The Cardinals are in a full-blown rebuild and used a third-round pick on Carson Beck last month after signing Gardner Minshew in free agency. Even if Brissett opens the season as Arizona's starter, there's a good chance Beck makes rookie-year starts.

Allar (ankle) was the fourth quarterback through drills Monday on the first day of OTAs, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

Recently signed veteran Aaron Rodgers took first-team reps, followed by Will Howard, Mason Rudolph and Allar. While Allar is starting at the bottom of the quarterback pecking order, it's nonetheless encouraging to see the rookie third-round pick on the field, which suggests that Allar has recovered from November surgery on a broken left ankle, which ended his final season at Penn State.

Prior to Rodgers re-signing, Howard was in position to compete for a starting role against veteran Mason Rudolph and rookie third-round pick Drew Allar (ankle). Rodgers is comfortably situated atop the quarterback depth chart now that the 42-year-old starter has returned to Pittsburgh for the start of OTAs, while Howard will have to jostle for positioning on the depth chart and could realistically miss out on making the team at all.

Rodgers will reclaim the starting role he possessed in 2025, leaving Rudolph to battle for the second spot on the depth chart with 2025 sixth-round pick Will Howard and 2026 third-round pick Drew Allar (ankle). If one of the younger quarterbacks shows promise in training camp, the Steelers could also opt to trade Rudolph to a team seeking an experienced backup. Rudolph has posted a 9-9-1 record in 19 regular-season starts split between the Steelers and Titans, including a loss in his lone start of 2025 with Pittsburgh while Rodgers was sidelined by a wrist injury.

Texans' Woody Marks: Should have role as pass catcher
    12h ago

Marks is likely to maintain a prominent role as a pass catcher out of the backfield despite Houston's offseason addition of running back David Montgomery, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Marks averaged a meager 3.6 yards per carry during his rookie regular season with the Texans, but the 2025 fourth-round pick had 24 catches for 208 yards and scored more receiving touchdowns (three) than rushing touchdowns (two). He also was a productive pass catcher in college, recording at least 47 receptions in four of five NCAA seasons. Montgomery is likely to lead the Texans in carries, but he ceded the majority of pass catching opportunities to Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit over the past three campaigns, as Montgomery had 24 or fewer catches in two of his three seasons with the Lions.

The Jets appear content to bring back the same running back room they had last season, with Hall leading the way while Allen and Isaiah Davis fill backup roles. Allen has had time recover from an MCL injury suffered last October, which carried a return timetable of 8-to-12 weeks at that point. While the 2024 fourth-round draft pick out of Wisconsin has impressed in practice, Allen will likely continue to cede the majority of backfield opportunities to Hall, who agreed to a three-year, $45.75 million extension with the Jets earlier in the offseason.

The Dolphins signed Achane to a four-year, $68 million contract extension Wednesday, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reports.

Achane was headed into the final year of his rookie deal, and new GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and coach Jeff Hafley had been adamant that the talented running back is a building block of the future in Miami, even after the Dolphins shed salary this offseason. Achane's new deal will pay him $17 million per year in new money, making him the league's third-highest-paid running back behind Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey. Achane started all 16 regular-season games in which he appeared last season, totaling a career-high 1,350 rushing yards and eight touchdown on 238 carries, averaging a league-high 5.8 yards per carry. He added 67 catches for 488 yards and four additional touchdowns on 85 targets in the passing game. Achane is still just 24 years old and figures to be a top-12 fantasy pick this season.

"Obviously we'd love to have something done sooner than later, and I'm sure Chris would, as well, but we're not there yet," Loomis said. Olave is headed into the final year of his rookie deal and is set to play on the fifth-year team option for $15.493 million in 2026 if the sides are unable to come to an agreement. After appearing in just eight games in 2024 due to concussion issues, Olave played in 16 regular-season contests last season before missing the Week 18 finale with a blood clot in his lung. Olave ended up having a career year, posting 100 catches for 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns on 156 targets, all career highs for the 25-year-old. He then dealt with stiffness in the knee this spring and had the clean-up procedure at some point in April. The Giants reportedly still hope Nabers will be ready for Week 1, but it's not looking especially good for his full participation at the start of training camp. Hurst has the size at 6-foot-4 and 206 pounds and the long-range speed (4.42-second forty) to run the downfield routes vacated by Mike Evans, who is one of this generation's prototypical X receivers. The Bucs used the 84th overall pick on Hurst, who likely would've gone sooner if he'd faced stiffer college competition instead of playing at Georgia State. Hurst drew some Nico Collins comparisons in the pre-draft process. His main competition for playing time in three-wide sets figures to be Jalen McMillan.
