Panthers' Nico Sturm: Sent to Florida
The Panthers acquired Sturm and a seventh-round pick in 2027 from San Jose on Thursday in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round pick.
Sturm will provide the Panthers with some depth up front as they currently have only 12 healthy forwards. Sturm had seven goals and six assists in 47 games with the Sharks this season, including two goals in his last four appearances.

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Pots goal Tuesday
Sturm scored a goal on three shots and added two hits in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Sabres.
Sturm had the Sharks' second goal, giving them a 2-1 lead late in the second period. He's scored twice over six games during the Sharks' current road trip, which ends Thursday in Colorado. Sturm is still a bottom-six forward, so any uptick in offense should be taken with a grain of salt. For the season, he's at seven goals, 13 points, 38 shots on net, 70 hits, 25 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating through 47 appearances. That matches his point total from 63 games a year ago, but he's way behind the necessary pace to challenge his career-best 26 points from 2022-23.

The 29-year-old center has 12 points, 34 shots on net, 63 hits, 22 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating over 44 appearances in a bottom-six role this season, putting him on track to fall short of the 20-point mark for the second year in a row.

The 29-year-old center has already missed four games while on injured reserve and will now be out of action for at least four more. When healthy, Sturm has struggled to produce offensively, recording a mere 11 points across 41 outings.

Carl Grundstrom was going to be a healthy scratch in Tuesday's matchup, but he will play due to Sturm's absence. The 29-year-old Sturm has provided five goals, 11 points, 30 shots on net, 17 blocked shots and 53 hits through 41 appearances this season.

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Scores shortie in win
Sturm scored a shorthanded goal and added two hits in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Red Wings.
This was Sturm's second game back from a lower-body injury that cost him three contests. He was able to end a 10-game point drought with a shortie to give the Sharks a 2-0 lead in the first period. The 29-year-old center has resumed a fourth-line role since his return, and that's a spot in the lineup that isn't likely to lead to fantasy value. He's at five goals, five helpers, 26 shots on net, 46 hits, 17 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating through 38 appearances. Sturm has scored one shorthanded goal in each of the last four campaigns.

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Deemed game-time decision
Sturm is considered a game-time decision for Saturday's game against the Devils for an undisclosed reason, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Sturm missed five games in November due to an upper-body injury, but he's appeared in every game since then, and it's unclear what injury he's dealing with ahead of Saturday's matchup. If the 29-year-old is sidelined against New Jersey, Ty Dellandrea could enter the lineup.

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Pockets helper in win
Sturm notched an assist and two hits in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Blues.
Sturm snapped a five-game point drought with the helper. The 29-year-old has played on the fourth line over the last nine games since he returned from an upper-body injury. He has nine points, 19 shots on net, 35 hits and 12 blocked shots through 27 outings. Sturm is mostly a defensive forward, and while he's on a better pace than last year (13 points in 63 games), he's unlikely to produce enough offense to help most fantasy managers.

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Scores in return
Sturm scored a goal in Monday's 7-2 win over the Kings.
Sturm missed five contests due to an upper-body injury and logged 10:54 of ice time in his return. His tally came 1:47 into the game to give the Sharks a quick 1-0 lead. The 29-year-old forward has played in a bottom-six role throughout the season, and given the relative weakness of San Jose's offense, that's not an enticing role for fantasy. Sturm has made the best of it with four goals, three assists, 16 shots on net, 23 hits and a minus-2 rating over 19 appearances, but that's not production that will get him onto many virtual rosters.

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Activated off IR
Sturm (upper body) has been removed from injured reserve ahead of Monday's matchup with the Kings, per the NHL media site.
Sturm looks set to take on a bottom-six role with his upper-body injury seemingly behind him. Prior to his five-game absence, the 29-year-old center recorded five points, 11 hits and nine blocked shots in his previous 10 outings. Given his limited offensive upside, Sturm is unlikely to offer much fantasy value moving forward.

Sturm (upper body) is considered a game-time decision for Monday's matchup against Los Angeles, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Sturm has spent the last week on injured reserve due to an upper-body injury, but he'll be in the mix to return to action against the Kings. However, the Sharks want to see how he feels in the hours leading up to puck drop, and if he isn't cleared to return Monday, his next chance to suit up will be Wednesday against Ottawa.

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Shifts to IR
Sturm (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Monday, per the NHL media site.
Sturm missed Saturday's 3-2 loss to Vancouver, and his placement on the IR list will keep him out for at least another three games. The 29-year-old forward has three goals, three assists, 15 shots on net, 10 blocked shots and 22 hits through 18 appearances this season. The Sharks brought up netminder Yaroslav Askarov from AHL San Jose in a corresponding move due to an injury to Vitek Vanecek (undisclosed).
