Sharks' Jan Rutta: Still not close to return
Rutta (lower body) is healing slower than anticipated and is not expected back soon, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News adds that Rutta has not started skating following the resumption of practice Tuesday. It's possible Rutta will miss all of the Sharks' upcoming seven-game road trip, which runs through Mar. 6 at Colorado. The 34-year-old blueliner already missed six games prior to the 4 Nations Face-Off and is likely to be out a while longer, though his depth role on the Sharks' blue line means his absence doesn't make much of an impact in fantasy.

Sharks' Nikolai Kovalenko: Won't be ready for start of trip
Kovalenko (upper body) could return during the middle of the Sharks' seven game road trip, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Kovalenko's return is not imminent. The Sharks begin a seven-game road trip in Calgary on Sunday, but it sounds like the winger will miss at least a couple more games before he's activated from injured reserve. Kovalenko will bolster the Sharks' bottom six once he's able to rejoin the active roster.

Sharks' Alexander Wennberg: Has chance to play Sunday
Wennberg (upper body) has "one more hurdle to cover" but is likely to play Sunday versus the Flames, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Wennberg's recovery has him on track to return shortly -- he has already missed four games. The 30-year-old's status should be updated again in the coming days once he is officially cleared. Wennberg's return should help replenish the Sharks' center depth after they traded Mikael Granlund to the Stars on Feb. 1.

Sharks' Nico Sturm: Probable to play Sunday
Sturm (lower body) is expected to be back in action Sunday versus the Flames, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Sturm missed the last eight games prior to the 4 Nations Face-Off. The 29-year-old will need to officially be activated off injured reserve if he is cleared by the Sharks' medical staff ahead of the resumption of the team's schedule.

Sharks' Jack Thompson: Up from AHL
Thompson was summoned from AHL San Jose on Tuesday.
Thompson has registered two goals, three assists, 22 shots on net, 25 blocked shots and nine hits through 18 NHL appearances this season. He played in three straight games with the Sharks before the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off and will probably be in the lineup for Sunday's clash against Calgary.

Sharks' Collin Graf: Called up Tuesday
Graf was recalled from AHL San Jose on Tuesday.
Graf has scored just one goal in 13 NHL games this year while adding two assists, 11 hits and 11 shots. With his promotion, the 22-year-old winger should be in the mix for a middle-six spot heading into Sunday's clash with Calgary, though he is far from a lock to play.

Sharks' Leo Sahlin Wallenius: Playing in top Finnish league
Sahlin Wallenius has contributed one goal and two assists through seven games with TPS of Finland's Liiga.
Sahlin Wallenius was loaned to TPS on Jan. 10 from Vaxjo of the SHL. The left-shot defenseman was selected in the second round, No. 53 overall, of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft by the Sharks. The 18-year-old has played at four different levels this season, having been loaned twice at this point. Sahlin Wallenius has good offensive instincts but will need to improve his play in the defensive zone if he is to someday succeed on the North American ice. The Swedish blueliner is very mobile, which will certainly aid in his development.

Sharks' Kasper Halttunen: Riding an eight-game point streak
Halttunen has generated six goals and seven assists during his eight-game point streak with OHL London.
Halttunen has four multi-point efforts over that span. He has nine goals and 26 points through 23 appearances this season. The 19-year-old forward began the 2024-25 campaign with AHL San Jose, earning two goals and two assists in six outings before reporting to the OHL. The Sharks selected Halttunen in the second round, with the No. 36 overall pick, in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Sharks' Luca Cagnoni: Riding four-game point streak
Cagnoni has five assists during his four-game point streak with AHL San Jose.
Cagnoni has three goals and seven helpers in his last nine appearances. The 20-year-old defender has been productive during his rookie campaign in the AHL, compiling 11 goals and 32 points through 43 appearances. Cagnoni ranks seventh in points among first-year players in 2024-25. He could receive a look with the Sharks before the end of the NHL regular season.

Sharks' Filip Bystedt: Starting to heat up
Bystedt has nine goals and 23 points in 40 games at AHL San Jose this season.
Bystedt was selected 27th overall by the Sharks in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. He came to North America at the end of the 2023-24 campaign and had four goals and three assists in eight AHL contests. He got off to a great start this season, collecting three goals and seven points during a six-game point streak. He struggled offensively until recently but has two goals and four points in his last six appearances.

Sharks' Quentin Musty: Offensive force in OHL
Musty has been a standout performer with OHL Sudbury in 2024-25, recording 17 goals and 35 points in 22 outings.
Musty missed about two months of the season due to injury, per Ben Leeson of the Sudbury Star, but he's been effective when healthy. Although missing a chunk of the campaign obviously isn't good for Musty's development, the 19-year-old could eventually turn into a solid top-six forward for the Sharks, who selected him with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft. Musty will likely get a long look during next season's training camp, though it wouldn't be surprising if San Jose ultimately decides at that time that he needs more seasoning rather than having him jump right to the NHL from the junior ranks.

Sharks' Igor Chernyshov: Productive in junior ranks
Chernyshov has eight goals and 14 points through five games with OHL Saginaw this season.
Chernyshov began the 2024-25 season on San Jose's injured non-roster list after having shoulder surgery in August. He reported briefly to AHL San Jose before getting some much-needed playing time in the OHL. The 19-year-old forward was named the OHL Player of the Week on Monday after he generated five goals and 10 points in three outings.

Sharks' Sam Dickinson: Providing ample offense in OHL
Dickinson has accounted for 20 goals, 59 points and a plus-38 rating across 38 games with OHL London in 2024-25.
Dickinson delivered 18 markers and 70 points over 68 games in 2023-24, so he's already surpassed that goal total in 30 fewer contests this season. The 18-year-old currently ranks fourth among all blueliners in the OHL in scoring behind Zayne Parekh, Henry Mews and Luca Marrelli. Dickinson will be a big part of San Jose's future -- the club selected him with the 11th overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

Sharks' Jack Thompson: Assigned to minors
Thompson was returned to AHL San Jose on Sunday.
Thompson has two goals, three assists, 22 shots on net, 25 blocked shots and nine hits across 18 NHL appearances in 2024-25. The 22-year-old defender has two goals and nine points in 17 minor-league outings this season. If Thompson doesn't return to the Sharks following the 4 Nations Face-Off, Marc-Edouard Vlasic could be back in the lineup after being a healthy scratch in the last three games.

Poturalski has one assist, five shots on goal and four blocked shots in three NHL appearances this season. He has produced 18 goals and 45 points in 41 minor-league outings during the 2024-25 campaign.

Sharks' Carl Grundstrom: Nabs apple Saturday
Grundstrom notched an assist, two shots on goal, three hits and a minus-2 rating in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Stars.
Grundstrom has two points, 13 shots on net and 16 hits over his last four games. The 27-year-old forward continues to fill a fourth-line role, which is unlikely to lead to sustained offense in the long run. He's at seven points, 56 shots on net, 120 hits, 16 PIM and a minus-12 rating over 38 outings this season.

Sharks' Ty Dellandrea: Earns helper against old team
Dellandrea logged an assist, two hits and a minus-2 rating in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Stars.
Dellandrea got on the scoresheet against his former team, but the Stars were far stronger on the whole. This was his second game back after missing four contests due to an upper-body injury. The 24-year-old forward is up to six points, 28 shots on net, 102 hits, 31 PIM, 31 blocked shots and a minus-17 rating over 43 outings in a bottom-six role this season.

Sharks' Andrew Poturalski: Snags helper in loss
Poturalski registered an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Stars.
Poturalski earned his first point in three NHL appearances this season. He's added five shots on net and four blocked shots while filling the second-line center role in the absence of Alexander Wennberg (upper body). The helper was Poturalski's first NHL point since the 2021-22 campaign, when he had two helpers over two games with the Hurricanes. He's always been a high-scoring forward in the AHL, but it's never really translated in limited usage in the NHL. He'll have to sustain offense over a longer stretch to be a fantasy option, which could be tough in the Sharks' lineup.

Sharks' Will Smith: Posts helper in loss
Smith notched an assist, two blocked shots and two PIM in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Stars.
Smith has two goals and six helpers over his last nine outings. The 19-year-old forward set up a Fabian Zetterlund tally in the second period. Smith started slow this season, but he's really settled in as a top-six option for the Sharks. He's at 23 points, 68 shots on net and a minus-9 rating across 49 appearances in his rookie campaign.
