Top Predators News

  • Predators' Fedor Svechkov: Slides helper in win

Svechkov notched an assist in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars.

Svechkov was a regular in the Predators' lineup from January onward. The 22-year-old finished the campaign with eight goals, nine assists, 64 shots on net, 32 hits, 24 blocked shots and a minus-17 rating across 52 appearances as a rookie this season. It's solid production, but as a first-round pick (2021), the scoring expectations will be elevated heading into 2025-26. In the long run, he projects to be a reliable middle-six center, so that will probably put him on the fringe in fantasy once he reaches his peak.

  • Predators' Luke Evangelista: Generates helper Wednesday

Evangelista notched an assist, four shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars.

Evangelista returned to steady top-six usage late in the season, earning four goals and nine assists over his last 14 contests. The winger had just 32 points in 68 outings this season, a small step back in pace from the 39-point campaign he had over 80 games a year ago. He added 134 shots on net, 28 hits, 22 PIM and a minus-2 rating in 2024-25. Evangelista will be a restricted free agent this summer -- the only one on Nashville's NHL roster -- so getting him a new contract is likely to be a priority for general manager Barry Trotz.

  • Predators' Steven Stamkos: Posts assist in win

Stamkos notched an assist and three shots on goal in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars.

Stamkos racked up four goals and four assists over the last seven games of the season. The 35-year-old forward showed some signs of decline in his first year with the Predators, ending up with 53 points (21 on the power play), 174 shots on net, 66 hits, 46 blocked shots, 48 PIM and a minus-36 rating over 82 appearances. He's missed just five games over the last four years, which is impressive given the durability concerns earlier in his career. Still, he shot 15.6 percent this year, in line with his career average -- his lack of production is almost exclusively due to the Predators' overall struggles and his own drop in shot volume.

  • Predators' Filip Forsberg: Dishes pair of assists

Forsberg recorded two assists, including one on the power play, in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars.

Forsberg led the Predators with 76 points this season, including three goals and six assists over eight games in April. The winger added 281 shots on net, 151 hits, 44 PIM and a minus-27 rating across 82 contests. Forsberg's 11.0 shooting percentage was his lowest in the last four years, a span in which he's topped the 40-goal mark twice. Despite the Predators' poor season, Forsberg still provided value for fantasy managers, and he should be a strong option for 2025-26, especially if the team around him bounces back.

  • Predators' Justin Barron: Tallies in season finale

Barron scored a goal and went plus-3 in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars.

Barron posted two goals, two assists, 14 shots on net, 14 blocked shots, 13 hits and a minus-6 rating over eight games in April. He received steady playing time with the Predators after he was traded from the Canadiens in December. The results were mixed -- Barron totaled six goals, seven assists, a minus-18 rating, 73 shots on net, 80 hits and 83 blocked shots over 62 appearances between the two teams this season. The 23-year-old is under contract for 2025-26, but so are six other blueliners on Nashville's NHL roster.

  • Predators' Jakub Vrana: Nets goal in win

Vrana scored a goal on four shots and added four PIM in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars.

Vrana put the Predators ahead 2-1 with a goal at 13:51 of the first period, and that stood as the game-winner. The 29-year-old played in eight of Nashville's last nine games, earning two points and nine shots on net in that span. He produced nine goals, five assists, 47 shots on net, 19 hits, 10 PIM and a minus-4 rating over 39 appearances between the Predators and the Capitals this season. He'll be a free agent this summer, but he may have to settle for a two-way contract to stay in North America after playing with four different teams over the last three years.

  • Predators' Jordan Oesterle: Pair of points Wednesday

Oesterle scored a goal on three shots, added an assist, blocked two shots and went plus-3 in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars.

Oesterle earned four points over eight outings in April once he got a chance to play regularly. The 32-year-old defenseman had a total of four goals, six assists, 38 shots on net, 27 hits, 57 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating over 37 appearances between the Predators and the Bruins this season. Oesterle signed a two-year, two-way contract with Boston last summer, so he'll likely be part of Nashville's plans in 2025-26 after they claimed him off waivers in March.

  • Predators' Jonathan Marchessault: One of each in Wednesday's win

Marchessault scored a goal and added a power-play assist in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars.

Marchessault ended the year with two goals and five assists over five contests after missing four games due to a lower-body injury. He had a total of 21 goals, 56 points (23 on the power play), 206 shots on net, 77 hits, 35 PIM and a minus-29 rating over 78 appearances. His 10.2 shooting percentage was his lowest since 2020-21, and combined with a lower shot volume, it explains most of his struggles in his first year with the Predators.

  • Predators' Ryan O'Reilly: Racks up three points in finale

O'Reilly scored a power-play goal on two shots and added two assists in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars.

O'Reilly struggled at times like many of his Nashville teammates this season. However, the veteran center put together a strong finish with five goals and six assists over his last 12 outings. The 34-year-old had a total of 21 goals, 32 helpers, 151 shots on net, 72 blocked shots and a minus-23 rating over 79 appearances this season. He's under contract for 2025-26 and will likely feature in a top-six role once again as the strongest two-way center on the Predators' roster.

  • Predators' Juuse Saros: Good end to bad year

Saros stopped 29 of 30 shots in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Stars.

Saros put in a solid performance in the regular-season finale. The 29-year-old won two of his last three starts in 2024-25, but he had the fewest wins (20) among all goalies to make at least 50 appearances. Saros concludes the season 20-31-6 with a 2.98 GAA and an .895 save percentage over 58 appearances. If he's up to it, Saros would likely be Finland's top option in goal for the 2025 IIHF World Championship after representing his country in the 4 Nations Face-Off.

  • Predators' Colton Sissons: Won't return before season's end

Sissons (lower body) won't suit up Wednesday versus the Stars, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.

Sissons was labeled week-to-week at the end of March and was unable to play in any of the last nine games of the season. He concludes 2024-25 with 21 points, 80 shots on net, 100 hits, 67 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating, his lowest scoring total in four years. Sissons will be in a contract year in 2025-26.

  • Predators' Andreas Englund: Gets back in lineup

Englund (illness) will play Wednesday versus the Stars, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.

Englund will return from a one-game absence and will fill a third-pairing role in the regular-season finale. The 29-year-old has just three points with 74 hits, 48 PIM and 38 blocked shots over 34 appearances between the Predators and the Kings this season.

  • Predators' Ryan Ufko: Sent back to minors

Ufko was returned to AHL Milwaukee on Wednesday, Alex Daugherty of The Tennessean reports.

Ufko made his NHL debut against Utah on Monday, logging a hit in 15:37 of ice time. However, he'll head back to the minors ahead of Nashville's regular-season finale against the Stars on Wednesday, suggesting that Andreas Englund (illness) could be back in action to close out the year.

  • Predators' Juuse Saros: Expected to face Dallas

Saros is expected to start at home against Dallas on Wednesday, per Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site.

Saros will attempt to rebound after allowing six goals on 35 shots in a 7-3 loss to Utah on Monday. He has a 19-31-6 record, 3.02 GAA and .894 save percentage over 57 appearances in 2024-25. Dallas ranks third in goals per game with 3.38, but the Stars might rest players as they prepare for the playoffs.

  • Predators' Marc Del Gaizo: Lands on waivers

Del Gaizo was waived by the Predators on Tuesday, per PuckPedia.

Del Gaizo's placement on waivers will allow him to be moved down to the minors ahead of the Calder Cup Playoffs. He could still suit up against the Stars on Wednesday, depending on the health of Andreas Englund (illness). Overall, Del Gaizo has generated two goals and seven helpers in 45 appearances.

  • Predators' Matthew Wood: Earns first NHL assist

Wood notched an assist in Monday's 7-3 loss to Utah.

This was Wood's fifth game since signing out of the University of Minnesota. The 20-year-old was listed on the second line Monday, but he has mostly seen usage in line with a bottom-six forward so far. In addition to his first career assist, the winger has seven shots on net, two hits, two blocked shots, two PIM and a minus-1 rating. The first-round pick from 2023 will make a push for a full-time NHL gig in 2025-26.

... See More ... See Less
  • Predators' Luke Evangelista: Eclipses 10-goal mark

Evangelista scored a goal and recorded four shots on goal in Monday's 7-3 loss to Utah.

Evangelista lit the lamp midway through the second period to halt a four-goal run from Utah that spanned across the first and second frames. Evangelista's twine finder marked his 10th goal of the season, which secured his second consecutive year scoring at least 10 markers. Overall, the 23-year-old winger is up to 31 points and 130 shots on goal in 67 appearances this season. Despite struggling earlier this season, Evangelista is rolling with 12 points and 29 shots on goal in his last 13 games. The potential and skills needed to thrive at the NHL level are present for Evangelista, and he has a solid chance to break out in his third full season with the Predators if they elect to re-sign him.

... See More ... See Less
  • Predators' Michael Bunting: Finds scoresheet in loss

Bunting scored a goal and fired five shots on net in Monday's 7-3 loss to the Hockey Club.

Bunting found the back of the net for Nashville's third and final goal of the game in the latter half of the second period. Overall, the 29-year-old winger has 19 goals, 38 points and 149 shots on net in 75 games this season between Pittsburgh and Nashville. While Bunting began his tenure with the Predators by going on a four-game point skid, he's found a rhythm offensively as of late with nine points in his last 13 outings. He's entering the final season of his three-year deal next year and will likely need to maintain some of his recent consistency if the Predators are to bring him back beyond the 2025-26 season.
