  Green (groin) participated in Thursday's organized team activities, Grant Cohn of Spots Illustrated reports. Green exited the 49ers' 2024 season finale early due to a groin issue, but his participation in Thursday's OTAs suggests he's now past the injury. The 2024 second-round pick from Florida State appeared in all 17 of San Francisco's regular-season games last season, recording 61 total tackles and 13 passes defended, including one interception. Now healthy again, Green is expected to serve as one of the 49ers' top outside cornerbacks in 2025.

  Green (groin) finished the 2024 regular season with 61 tackles (41 solo), 13 pass defenses (including one interception) and one forced fumble across 17 games. The rookie second-round pick out of Florida State mainly contributed on special teams over the first five games of the regular season. Green earned a larger role on the first-team defense as the season progressed, playing at least 40 defensive snaps in 11 of the last 12 games of the regular season. Thanks to the extra playing time, Green was able to break San Francisco's rookie record for pass defenses in a season, surpassing safety Eric Reid's 11 from 2013, per Ali Thanawalla of Yahoo Sports. Green will be an integral part of a young 49ers secondary for the 2025 campaign alongside Ji'Ayir Brown, Malik Mustapha and Deommodore Lenoir.

  Green has been deemed questionable to return to Sunday's Week 18 matchup against Arizona due to a groin injury, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports. The 49ers deemed Green questionable to re-enter Sunday's matchup midway through the third quarter. His exit thins an already depleted San Francisco secondary that entered Sunday without cornerback Deommodore Lenoir (shoulder), then lost safeties Talanoa Hufanga (concussion) and Malik Mustapha (knee) during the matchup. Isaac Yiadom, Rock Ya-Sin and Nick McCloud are candidates to step in for defensive snaps while Green is sidelined.

Green turned in his finest single-game performance as a pro despite his team taking the loss Sunday. The second-round rookie logged double-digit tackles for the first time in his career in addition to cleanly defending a potential short touchdown pass to Tyreek Hill late in the third quarter. Green is coming into his own as the 49ers prepare to play out the string against the Lions next Monday.

  Green (ankle) suffered an ankle injury in Sunday night's 30-24 win over the Cowboys, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Green finished his night with three total tackles (two solo) and a forced fumble, picking up the injury at some point along the way. The cornerback stripped Dallas tight end Jake Ferguson in the second quarter, but Ferguson was able to get back on top of it. With the 49ers idle in Week 9, Green will look to get healthy in the extra time off before San Francisco returns to the field Nov. 10 versus the Buccaneers.

  Green registered six tackles (four solo) along with an interception versus the Seahawks in Week 6 on Thursday in a 36-24 victory. Green was given his biggest NFL opportunity so far due to the absence of Charvarius Ward (knee). Green ended up logging 90 percent of San Francisco's defensive snaps -- by far his highest count this season -- and made a key interception of Geno Smith midway through the fourth quarter. Green will likely move back to working primarily on special teams when Ward is able to return to action.

  The 49ers selected Green in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 64th overall. Green was an elite college cornerback at Florida State and should be able to emerge as at least an average starter in the NFL as well. The challenge with his evaluation lies in the concern that there might be a disconnect between his skill set and tool set -- more specifically, Green dominated as a press corner in college but lacks the conventional traits to project as a press corner in the NFL due to a light build (6-feet, 186 pounds) and relatively short (31 and 1/4 inches) arms. If Green's build doesn't hold back his NFL press-coverage abilities then his game should translate well, and the 49ers would get a cornerback upgrade out of the pick.
