  • Saints' Alvin Kamara: Extending stay in Big Easy

Kamara and the Saints agreed on two-year, $24.5 million extension Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Days after Kamara took to X and shut down rumors he requested a trade, he doubled down on those sentiments via an extension. The dynamic back is now under contract with the Saints through 2026. The 2017 third-round pick recorded a career-low 694 rushing yards in 2023, but he has bounced back nicely through seven games this year. Kamara has already tallied 438 yards and six touchdowns on the ground as well as 34 receptions on 43 targets for 252 yards and one touchdown.

  • Saints' Paulson Adebo: Officially moved to IR

The Saints placed Adebo (upper leg) on injured reserve Tuesday.

Adebo suffered a broken femur during the Saints' Week 7 loss to the Broncos on Thursday. He underwent season-ending surgery Friday, and he'll shift his focus toward being fully healthy for the 2025 campaign. Adebo's move to IR makes room on the 53-man roster for the Saints' signing of wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

  • Saints' Derek Carr: Completes throwing session

Head coach Dennis Allen said Carr (oblique) took part in a throwing session Monday and will throw again Tuesday before the Saints assess his status for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.

While Carr isn't being discounted from being ready to return to the lineup in Los Angeles after missing the last two games with a left oblique strain, Allen admitted this past Friday that he was more confident the quarterback to be available for a Week 9 matchup with the Panthers. The Saints will see how Carr responds to throwing on consecutive days before potentially clearing him for some practice this week. If Carr doesn't make enough progress in his recovery from the injury to play Sunday, Allen said that he plans to have rookie Spencer Rattler make a third straight start.

  • Saints' Marquez Valdes-Scantling: Finds new home

The Saints signed Valdes-Scantling on Monday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

In the wake of losing Rashid Shaheed for the season due to a torn meniscus last week, the Saints were in the market for help at wide receiver, both in the short and long term. No. 1 receiver Chris Olave remains in the concussion protocol, leaving Mason Tipton, Bub Means and Cedrick Wilson as the healthy options at the position prior to the addition of Valdes-Scantling. Before getting cut by the Bills last Tuesday, the veteran wideout had hauled in two of nine targets for 26 yards in six appearances this season.

  • Saints' Chris Olave: Remains in concussion protocol

Saints head coach Dennis Allen said Monday that Olave remains in the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.

Olave was unable to suit up last Thursday versus Denver, and he'll still need to gain full clearance -- including from an independent neurologist -- in order to be eligible to play Sunday versus the Chargers. With Rashid Shaheed having undergone season-ending knee surgery and the availability of quarterback Derek Carr (oblique) still uncertain for Week 8, it would provide a key boost for New Orleans' offense if Olave managed to gain clearance in time to play in Los Angeles. Mason Tipton, Cedrick Wilson and Bub Means otherwise will be in line to lead the Saints' wide receiver room.

  • Saints' Spencer Rattler: Will start Week 8 if Carr can't go

Saints head coach Dennis Allen said Monday that Rattler (hip) will start Sunday's game against the Chargers if Derek Carr (oblique) remains sidelined, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.

Rattler was forced out of last Thursday's 33-10 loss to the Broncos late in the fourth quarter due to a hip pointer, but it doesn't sound like the injury is a real threat to keep him sidelined Week 8. Despite the rookie fifth-round pick's miserable performance versus Denver in which he logged just 4.9 yards per attempt and lost two fumbles, Rattler seems slated to retain a grip on the No. 1 role until such time as Carr is cleared to retake the field.
