Bethune was added back to the 49ers' active roster earlier Monday after missing the team's last five contests due to a knee injury, so it's no surprise he'll return to the field in Week 17. With the 2024 seventh-round pick from Florida State active, he's likely to serve as a depth piece in San Francisco's linebacker corps Monday night.

Bethune has been sidelined for the 49ers' last five games after sustaining a sprained MCL in the Week 11 loss to the Seahawks. The rookie linebacker from Florida State practiced in full Friday, suggesting he may return for San Francisco's Week 17 matchup against the Lions. However, Bethune must still be added to the active roster in order to suit up Monday night.

  The 49ers placed Bethune (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Bethune sprained his MCL during the 49ers' Week 11 loss to the Seahawks. Now that he's on IR, Bethune will be forced to miss at least the next four games, and the earliest he could return is Week 16 against the Dolphins on Sunday, Dec. 22.

  Bethune (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Packers, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Bethune sprained his MCL in the first quarter of this past Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. He's mostly played on special teams this season, so his absence won't hurt the 49ers' depth on defense that much. Bethune's next opportunity to play will be Week 13 against Buffalo on Sunday, Dec. 1.
