• Texans' Danielle Hunter: Lands extension through 2026

  Hunter agreed Wednesday with the Texans on a one-year contract extension, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Hunter signed a two-year, $49 million deal with the Texans last offseason, so the extension will keep him on the books through 2026. In his first season with Houston, Hunter suited up for all 17 games during the regular season and both playoff contests, finishing with 53 tackles and 12.0 sacks. With the extension, Hunter will earn $35.6 million in new money and will get a $12.5 million raise for the 2025 season.

Hunter earned a new one-year contract as training camp got underway after holding out during minicamp and he spent this past season proving he deserved it. The 29-year-old earned his fourth selection to the Pro Bowl team while logging career highs in tackles, sacks and forced fumbles. The LSU product is not under contract for next offseason and will be looking to get paid again. Considering his talent, he could be a candidate for the franchise tag, if he's unable to reach a long-term deal with the Vikings.
