  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Coach confirms three-game absence

Head coach Todd Bowles confirmed Tuesday that Evans will likely remain out through the Buccaneers' Week 11 bye due to a "moderate" right hamstring injury, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. Tampa Bay isn't placing Evans on injured reserve, with the team seemingly hopeful that he'll be able to avoid a four-game absence and instead miss just three games due to the hamstring injury he aggravated in the first half of Monday's loss to the Ravens. If all goes well in Evans' recovery, the expectation is that he'll be ready to play coming out of the bye week and make his return to the lineup Nov. 24 versus the Giants. Meanwhile, Bowles confirmed that Chris Godwin (ankle) will undergo surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the season, so quarterback Baker Mayfield will be without his top two targets for at least the next three games.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Likely to miss next three games

Evans (hamstring) isn't expected to be available for the Buccaneers until after the team's Week 11 bye, JC Allen of SI.com reports. Evans aggravated a right hamstring injury in the second quarter of Monday's 41-31 loss to the Ravens and was sent in for an MRI on Tuesday. The Buccaneers haven't yet provided an update on the results of Evans' imaging, but Allen's report suggests that the team isn't counting on the star wideout suiting up for any of their next three games. The timing of Evans' injury is especially tough for the Buccaneers with fellow wideout Chris Godwin having suffered a dislocated ankle late in Monday's contest that will likely require season-ending surgery. Assuming Evans and Godwin are both sidelined beginning with this Sunday's game against the Falcons, Jalen McMillan, Trey Palmer and Sterling Shepard could all be primed to see extended snaps. The injuries to Evans and Godwin could also motivate the Buccaneers to trade for another receiver in advance of the Nov. 5 deadline.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: MRI coming Tuesday

Evans (hamstring) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Evans was already nursing a right hamstring injury heading into Monday's game, but he was able to suit up. After catching a 25-yard touchdown early in the contest, Evans dropped another potential scoring strike from Baker Mayfield midway through the second quarter, aggravating the hamstring issue in the process. He was ruled out for the night soon after. Tuesday's MRI should help clarify his chances of playing this Sunday against the Falcons, but the Buccaneers could be without both of their top two receivers, as Chris Godwin suffered a dislocated ankle Monday that will likely require season-ending surgery. Jalen McMillan, Trey Palmer and Sterling Shepard are the next men up at receiver for Tampa Bay, and all three could be in store for larger roles against Atlanta even if Evans is cleared to play.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Leaves early with hamstring injury

Evans (hamstring) won't return to Monday's game against the Ravens, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. He'll finish with a 25-yard touchdown reception across his three targets. Evans tweaked his right hamstring while failing to reel in what would have been his second touchdown of the game in the second quarter. Jalen McMillan, Sterling Shepard and Trey Palmer could all be in store for added reps at receiver alongside Chris Godwin for the rest of the game.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Exits to locker room

Evans appears to have aggravated his right hamstring in Monday's matchup with the Ravens, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. Evans failed to bring in his second touchdown of the night and came up holding his previously injured right hamstring. He subsequently left with trainers to the locker room. It remains to be seen if the star pass catcher will be able to return. While Evans is sidelined, Jalen McMillan figures to be the prime beneficiary alongside Chris Godwin, with Sterling Shepard and Trey Palmer also potentially seeing some extra snaps.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: No injury designation for Monday

Evans (hamstring) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Monday's matchup against the Ravens, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports. There was discussion that Evans could end up being a game-time decision for Monday's primetime contest, but the veteran wideout is one of the most durable players in the league and will play through the injury. Evans and company could be poised for an aerial approach given the Ravens allow the fewest rushing yards to opposing teams.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Practicing Saturday

Evans (hamstring) was spotted participating in practice Saturday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. The Buccaneers will announce Evans' official injury status later in the afternoon Saturday, but the report indicates this is certainly a positive sign for the veteran's status entering Monday's clash against the Ravens. Expect a more detailed update to arrive in the coming hours.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Limited to side work Friday

Evans (hamstring) didn't practice Friday, but he worked with a trainer on a side field, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. It isn't clear if Evans did any running, as the video clip with the trainer only shows him stretching. Coach Todd Bowles revealed Thursday that Evans has a lingering lower-body injury, which probably explains why his snap share dropped to 54 percent and his route share to 68 percent in a 51-27 win over the Saints this past Sunday. Back-to-back absences from practice have him looking uncertain for Monday's game against Baltimore -- a team that's given up big-time production to perimeter receivers this season.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Misses practice with leg injury

Evans was held out of Thursday's practice with a nagging leg injury, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles suggested Thursday that Evans aggravated a prior injury during Sunday's 51-27 win over the Saints, which may explain why the wideout played only 44 percent of snaps after halftime. He wasn't on the injury report last week, but back in Week 5 the Bucs listed him with knee and calf injuries (which didn't stop Evans from scoring two TDs against Atlanta). Bowles said Evans is already making progress and should return to practice before Monday's game against the Ravens, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Another tough day vs. Saints

Evans brought in two of six targets for 34 yards in the Buccaneers' 51-27 win over the Saints on Sunday. As has often been par for the course in his encounters with arch-nemesis Marshon Lattimore and the Saints, Evans finished the day with lackluster numbers. The veteran wideout also appeared to suffer an injury during the second quarter and even headed to the locker room, per Spencer Urquhart of NOLA.com, but he eventually returned to the game. Evans will aim to bounce back from his second-lowest receiving yardage total of the season when the Buccaneers tangle with the Ravens in a Week 7 home showdown on Monday night, Oct. 21.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Pair of TD grabs in OT loss

Evans secured five of seven targets for 62 yards and two touchdowns and recovered a fumble in the Buccaneers' 36-30 overtime loss to the Falcons on Thursday night. Evans hit pay dirt from two and 23 yards out in the first and second quarters, respectively, his fourth and fifth touchdowns of the season. However, the veteran wideout posted just three receptions for 37 yards as far as his non-scoring catches, although he had a key recovery of a Chris Godwin fumble just past the midway point of the third quarter following a 20-yard reception that saved a drive which culminated in a field goal. Evans will head into a Week 6 road matchup against the Saints on Sunday, Oct. 13 still in search of his first 100-yard game of the campaign.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Set for Thursday night

Evans (knee/calf) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game at Atlanta, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Evans was a non-participant at Monday's walkthrough due to knee and calf injuries, but he followed it up with a limited walkthrough Tuesday and capped session Wednesday, thereby paving the way for him to suit up Week 5. He's coming off his most productive outing of the season against the Eagles this past Sunday, when he hauled in eight of 14 targets for 94 yards and one touchdown.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Upgrades to limited practice

Evans (knee/calf) was limited in Tuesday's walk-through practice, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Evans was listed as a non-participant Monday, so it's encouraging to see him upgrade his participation level, even if Tampa Bay was only having another walk-through session. The star wideout figures to have a good chance to suit up for Thursday's divisional matchup against the Falcons. If Evans can upgrade to a full practice session Wednesday, however, it would mitigate any concerns about his health. The veteran wideout is coming off a 8-94-1 receiving line on 14 targets during Week 4's win over the Eagles, with his catches, yards and targets all being season-best marks.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Misses Monday's walkthrough

Evans (knee/calf) is listed as a non-participant on Monday's injury report. The Buccaneers are hosting a walkthrough Monday, per Scott Smith of the team's official site, but it's nonetheless notable to see DNP next to Evans' name. The veteran wideout is dealing with knee and calf injuries, though it's possible that Tampa Bay is simply capping his practice reps with a short week on deck prior to Thursday's key divisional matchup against the Falcons. Evans logged his best game of the 2024 season during the Buccaneers' 33-16 win over the Eagles on Sunday in which he secured eight of 14 targets for 94 yards and one touchdown while playing 78 percent of offensive snaps.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Paces pass catchers in win

Evans secured eight of 14 targets for 94 yards and a touchdown in the Buccaneers' 33-16 win over the Eagles on Sunday. Evans led the Buccaneers across the board in receptions, receiving yards and targets with totals that also were season highs. He also recorded his third touchdown of the campaign on a two-yard grab to cap off the opening possession of the contest, making it his best all-around game in new coordinator Liam Coen's offense. Evans next faces a familiar foe in the Falcons during a Week 5 road divisional matchup on Thursday night.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Good to go

Evans (knee/rest) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Evans didn't practice Friday, but the addition of 'rest' to his injury explanation suggests his absence was a matter of caution. Chris Godwin (neck) also avoided an injury designation, while No. 3 receiver Jalen McMillan is listed as doubtful after injuring his hamstring during Friday's practice.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Stymied by Broncos in loss

Evans brought in two of three targets for 17 yards in the Buccaneers' 26-7 loss to the Broncos on Sunday. Evans' final line tells the tale of how difficult an afternoon it was for the Buccaneers offense as a whole, particularly the air attack. With Baker Mayfield taking seven sacks and averaging only 4.9 yards per attempt, Evans' numbers unsurprisingly took a hit. The star wideout's reception, receiving yardage and target numbers were all season lows, giving him plenty of room for improvement in a Week 4 home matchup against the Eagles.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Bust Alert (Start/Sit)

It's tough to sit Evans in the majority of leagues, but this could be a rough week for him against the Broncos and cornerback Patrick Surtain. So far this season, Surtain has helped limit DK Metcalf and George Pickens to a combined five catches for 58 yards and no touchdowns on eight targets. Evans is coming off a down game in Week 2 at Detroit with three catches for 42 yards and no touchdowns on six targets, and he could have another poor performance in Week 3 given the expected matchup with Surtain.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Contrarian DFS Play

Any time you can get an elite wide receiver at a low roster rate, you have to entertain the idea. The reason Evans' roster rate will be so low is because he is facing one of the best corners in the league and he's coming off of a dud. I won't dispute those are valid reasons, and I wouldn't play Evans in cash games, but in GPPs he brings huge upside every week and as a future Hall of Famer he's had plenty of big games against great corners.

  • Buccaneers' Mike Evans: Modest showing in Week 2 win

Evans caught three of six targets for 42 yards in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Lions. Evans had just one catch for 16 yards on two first-half targets, as eight of Baker Mayfield's 12 passes before halftime were directed to Chris Godwin. Evans was actually Tampa Bay's leading receiver after halftime but that production didn't amount to much, as the veteran wide receiver cooled off after a two-touchdown Week 1 performance. He has just 103 receiving yards heading into a Week 3 date with a Broncos secondary led by star cornerback Patrick Surtain.
