Rockets' Dillon Brooks: Goes for 15 points Wednesday
Brooks accounted for 15 points (4-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds and an assist across 22 minutes in Wednesday's 122-113 preseason win over the Thunder.
Brooks didn't play in the previous preseason game due to rest purposes, but the veteran wing logged some much-needed minutes in this one, as he aims to ramp up before the regular-season opener against the Hornets on Oct. 23. It seems Brooks is more than ready to start the campaign, as he finished as Houston's second-highest scorer in this game while showing an accurate touch from beyond the arc. Brooks is penciled in to open the campaign as the starting small forward, flanked by Jalen Green at shooting guard and Jabari Smith at power forward.

Rockets' Reed Sheppard: Makes impact off bench
Sheppard delivered 11 points (5-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 0-1 FT), four rebounds, two assists and a steal across 23 minutes off the bench in Wednesday's 122-113 preseason win over the Thunder.
Sheppard was one of four Houston players who scored in double digits in this game, and he continues to prove he's more than ready to leave his mark in the NBA as a rookie, particularly from a scoring perspective. Sheppard was the third overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, and while he figures to play a huge role in the organization's long-term picture, he's expected to open the 2024-25 campaign as a bench option since Fred VanVleet and Jalen Green will operate as the starting backcourt.

Rockets' Alperen Sengun: Sniffs double-double
Sengun recorded 17 points (3-7 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 11-12 FT), nine rebounds, two assists and two steals across 22 minutes in Wednesday's 122-113 preseason win over the Thunder.
Sengun led the Rockets in scoring in this one, but he found a way to make an impact on the boards and defensively as well while ending just one rebound shy of a double-double. Even though it's only the preseason, Sengun is showing he's more than ready to start the campaign and picked things up right where he left them off in 2023-24. The big man is expected to play a massive role for the Rockets on both ends of the court, and his ability to fill the stat sheet across several categories should make him one of the most sought-after big men across all fantasy formats.

Thompson will start at point guard during Wednesday's preseason game against the Thunder, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
With Dillon Brooks resting, Thompson started at small forward during Monday's preseason opener against the Jazz. However, with Brooks back and Fred VanVleet now getting the night off, the second-year pro will shift to point guard, showcasing the versatility that makes Thompson an intriguing fantasy option.

Rockets' Tari Eason: Returning to action Wednesday
Eason (rest/leg) is set to play in Houston's preseason contest versus the Thunder on Wednesday.
Eason, who rested during Monday's preseason opener, will participate in his first game action since Jan. 1 after undergoing surgery in March to treat a benign growth in his lower leg. The 23-year-old averaged 11.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.8 steals in 23.9 minutes per game across his last 15 regular-season contests.

Rockets' Amen Thompson: Efficient in loss Monday
Thompson notched 13 points (6-8 FG, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, an assist and two steals across 22 minutes in Monday's 122-113 preseason loss to the Jazz.
Thompson got the start at small forward over Dillon Brooks (rest) in the preseason opener. While he's ticketed for a bench role to start the 2024-25 campaign, Thompson possesses decent upside as a do-it-all forward who can fill the stat sheet in limited minutes. Thompson averaged 9.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 0.6 blocks per game across 62 regular-season appearances as a rookie in 2023-24.

Rockets' Alperen Sengun: Fills stat sheet Monday
Sengun recorded 17 points (6-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block across 22 minutes in Monday's 122-113 preseason loss to the Jazz.
Sengun missed the final 18 games of the 2023-24 season with a Grade 3 right ankle sprain but was deemed healthy for training camp in late September. If fantasy managers needed confirmation of his status, this performance cleared every possible question mark regarding the promising big man. It's unclear who will operate as Houston's go-to player on offense this season, but there's no question Sengun has the most upside from a fantasy perspective. He's expected to take another leap in his game after posting averages of 21.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.2 steals, 0.7 blocks and 0.5 three-pointers in 32.5 minutes per game over 63 regular-season appearances in 2023-24.

Rockets' Jalen Green: Paces Houston in loss Monday
Green delivered 21 points (7-14 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds and a block across 20 minutes in Monday's 122-113 preseason loss to the Jazz.
Coach Ime Udoka attempted to give the potential starters a solid run of minutes in the preseason opener, and Green made the most of it while leading the team in scoring. His role as one of the Rockets' primary offensive threats is not in danger after displaying tremendous growth in 2023-24, averaging 22.8 points per game after the All-Star break.

Rockets' Cam Whitmore: Efficient outing in preseason loss
Whitmore posted 17 points (6-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), three steals, two rebounds, one block and one assist across 19 minutes during Monday's 122-113 preseason loss to the Jazz.
Whitmore was extremely efficient while getting it done on both ends of the floor, and he tied Alperen Sengun for the second-highest scoring mark on the Rockets behind Jalen Green (21). Whitmore is coming off a solid rookie season, during which he averaged 12.3 points and 3.8 rebounds across only 18.7 minutes per game in 47 regular-season appearances. The 20-year-old is expected to compete for playing time off the bench with Tari Eason (rest) and Amen Thompson behind Dillon Brooks (rest). However, if Whitmore can stay healthy and affect the game on both ends of the floor, it'll likely be difficult for the club to keep him off the court.

Thompson will be in the Rockets' starting lineup for Monday's preseason game against the Jazz, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Thompson will get the start over Dillon Brooks (rest) for Monday's preseason opener. The 2023 first-round pick was inserted into the starting lineup late in his rookie season, and across his last 17 starts he averaged 13.9 points on 58.6 percent shooting, 9.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 steals across 29.6 minutes per game.

Rockets' Jeff Green: Won't play Monday

Rockets' Tari Eason: Out for Monday
Eason (rest) has been ruled out for Monday's preseason opener against the Jazz, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Eason underwent surgery in March to treat a benign growth in his lower left leg, though he has been an active participant during training camp thus far. The 23-year-old is likely only out for an extra day of rest, and he is expected to be available for Opening Night. With Eason out, the club will get an extended look at Cam Whitmore, Jae'Sean Tate and Nate Williams.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Gets Monday to rest
Landale won't suit up for Monday's preseason game against the Jazz, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Feigen notes that Landale hasn't picked up any sort of injury, and he's simply getting the night off due to this being an exhibition. He'll have a chance to make his preseason debut Wednesday against the Thunder.

Rockets' Dillon Brooks: Won't suit up Monday
Brooks (rest) has been ruled out for Monday's preseason opener against the Jazz, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Brooks will stay on the sidelines Monday, though it is likely nothing more than an extra day of rest for the eight-year vet. With the 28-year-old out, the Rockets will presumably get an extended look at Reed Sheppard, Cam Whitmore and Amen Thompson. Brooks' next chance to suit up will come Wednesday versus the Thunder.

Nowell and the Rockets agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal Tuesday, Kelly Iko of The Athletic reports.
Nowell was with the Raptors on a two-way deal in 2023-24, but he made only one NBA appearance. In Houston, he'll be considered a long shot to make the final roster.
