The outfielder is up to a .256/.329/.395 slash line, three long balls, four steals, 10 RBI, 20 runs scored, seven doubles and a triple through 38 games this season. Rangers' Leody Taveras: Gets rest day Thursday
Taveras is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals. Taveras appears to be getting a routine off day as Washington and Texas conclude their series with a day game after a night game. The 25-year-old had started in each of the Rangers' last five contests, recording at least one hit in each of those games to bring his average up to .229 for the season.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Leody Taveras: Bops first homer
Taveras went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 7-1 win over the Nationals. Taveras bopped his first home run of the season, a two-run shot as part of the Rangers' three-run eighth inning that put the game out of reach. He's been a streaky hitter since emerging as the everyday center fielder, but Taveras hasn't done much streaking yet in 2024. He's batting .226 with a .613 OPS, and Tuesday's RBI were his first in 10 games and just his third and fourth of the season.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Leody Taveras: Gets break Thursday
Taveras is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mariners. Taveras will sit for the first time since April 7, breaking a stretch of 16 consecutive starts. The day off could probably do Taveras some good, as he's gone hitless in 12 at-bats over his last four games to drop his batting average to .200. Evan Carter will shift over from his usual spot in left field to spell Taveras in center.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Leody Taveras: Gets break Sunday
Taveras will not start Sunday against the Astros. Taveras will get a break Sunday as Travis Jankowski gets his second start at center field this year. Rangers' Leody Taveras: Moves up to five spot
Taveras has been moved up to the fifth spot in the lineup for Friday's ALCS Game 5 against the Astros. Rangers' Leody Taveras: Crushes home run in victory
Taveras went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Astros in Game 1 of the ALCS. Taveras's deep shot marked the first of his postseason career, as he took Justin Verlander deep on a slider left over the heart of the plate to add an insurance run in the fifth inning. The switch-hitting outfielder doesn't typically depend on power for his scoring, slugging a modest 14 home runs in 143 regular-season games. However, he has hit well in the playoffs so far, slashing .333/.440/.524 in 21 at-bats with five runs, three RBI, two stolen bases and Sunday's home run.... See More ... See Less -

Rangers' Leody Taveras: Enters as pinch hitter
Taveras (hand) entered Thursday's game as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning of a 9-2 win over Toronto. Taveras took the first pitch then laid down a sacrifice bunt on the second, which placed less stress on his sore left hand than swinging away might have. The 25-year-old outfielder has been on the bench for three straight games but was slashing .375/.419/.475 in September prior to picking up the injury.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Leody Taveras: Out with sore hand
Taveras is out of the lineup again Thursday versus the Blue Jays due to a sore left hand, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
