Angels' Mike Trout: Resuming OF drills after break
Trout plans to resume outfield drills after the All-Star break, but there is no timetable for when he will return to right field, Thomas Murray of The Sporting Tribune reports.
Trout has been a full-time designated hitter since he returned from a bone bruise on his right knee in late May, which is the same knee he had meniscus surgery on last season. The three-time MVP admits that he still feels "a little achy here and there," but he will ease back into outfield workouts, with the goal of eventually playing right field again sometime in the second half. With Trout limited to DH duty, Jorge Soler has served as the Angels' primary right fielder.

Angels' Barrett Kent: Cleared for return
Kent (undisclosed) was activated from the 60-day injured list Thursday.
Kent missed time while on the mend from an undisclosed injury, but he completed a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on July 5 and made his first appearance of the season for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday. He managed to avoid damage despite dealing with plenty of traffic on the bases, firing 3.2 scoreless frames while allowing three hits and three walks and striking out four.

Angels' CJ Gray: Goes to Halos in fifth round
The Angels have selected Gray with the 140th overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.
A prep righty from North Carolina, Gray was a multi-sport athlete in high school and could have been a mid-major college quarterback. His changeup is his top offspeed pitch and he has a very high ceiling due to his lack of reps and live arm. Once Gray gets pro instruction, he could be wielding a mid-90s fastball.

Angels' Nate Snead: Final pick of first night
The Angels have selected Snead with the 105th overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.
A 21-year-old righty from Tennessee, Snead sits in the upper 90s with his fastball and touches 101 mph. All of his arsenal needs work, in addition to his control, so there's a lot of reliever risk, but Snead also has a high ceiling. He had a 4.53 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 42:21 K:BB in 49.2 innings this spring.

Angels' Johnny Slawinski: Scooped by Halos
The Angels have selected Slawinski with the 79th overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.
A 6-foot-3, 180-pound left-handed pitcher from Texas, Slawinski has a deep repertoire and is very projectable. His low-90s fastball touches 95 mph and should comfortably sit in the mid-to-high 90s as he adds muscle and fills out his frame. He has a pair of quality breaking balls and a better changeup than most of his peers. Slawinsky, who is committed to Texas A&M, projects to throw enough strikes to start.

Angels' Chase Shores: Drafted by Halos
The Angels have selected Shores with the 47th overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.
A 6-foot-8 righty from LSU, Shores has a huge arm, although there is significant bullpen risk. Shores operates with a sinker and slider and should be able to generate weak contact. He may be stretched back out as a starter by the Angels after working in more of a multi-inning role down the stretch at LSU.

Angels' Zach Neto: Records steal in loss
Neto went 1-for-2 with two walks, one stolen base and one run scored in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Neto enters the All-Star break hot -- he's 17-for-47 (.362) with six extra-base hits and four steals over his last 11 games. The shortstop has had a bit of a breakout this season, posting a .279/.326/.492 slash line over 77 contests after dealing with a couple of right shoulder injuries during the first half. He's added 15 homers, 33 RBI, 61 runs scored, 18 doubles, one triple and 17 steals, offering an enticing blend of power and speed for a middle infielder.

Angels' Jose Soriano: Comes undone in fourth inning
Soriano (6-7) allowed five runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks while striking out three over five innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Diamondbacks.
Soriano got through three innings with little trouble, but Arizona put together a four-run rally in the fourth, aided by an error. Over his last nine starts, Soriano has been operating on extremes -- he's given up five-plus runs four times, but his other five starts in that span have seen him surrender one run or fewer. That inconsistency is frustrating for fantasy managers, but the right-hander has been one of the Angels' more effective starters in the first half, posting a 3.90 ERA despite a 1.45 WHIP and 98:55 K:BB through 113 innings over 20 starts.

Angels' Tyler Bremner: Surprise No. 2 overall pick
The Angels have selected Bremner with the second overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft.
Bremner, a 6-foot-2 righty, logged a 6.1 percent walk rate and a 35.8 percent strikeout rate as a junior at UC Santa Barbara, and he looked like a top-two-round draft prospect as a sophomore as well. Perhaps the most relevant part of Bremner's season is how he finished, striking out double-digit batters in six of his last seven starts. His fastball averaged 95.2 mph this year with 19.2 inches of induced vertical break and one of the three flattest approach angles in the draft, so it's a monster pitch. Bremner also throws one of the best changeups in the class and his walk rate was one of the lowest of the top college arms in the class, although he was facing the weakest competition. His slider lags behind as an average-to-above-average offering. He's got an athletic, 190-pound frame and hasn't thrown more than 88.2 innings in a season, but if he can handle a full pro workload, there's no reason he can't develop into a No. 2 or No. 3 starter who moves quickly to the majors.

Angels' Jorge Soler: Not in Sunday's lineup
Soler is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.
Soler is in the midst of a modest five-game hit streak, during which he's gone 5-for-14 with a double and a home run, but he'll hit the bench Sunday for the second time in the Halos' past three games. LaMonte Wade will draw the start in right field for the final game before the All-Star break.

Angels' Reid Detmers: Not expected to join rotation
Detmers probably won't be moving into the Angels' rotation despite the demotion of Jack Kochanowicz to the minors, per Aaron Coloma of SI.com.
Kochanowicz and Detmers battled for the fifth starter role in spring training, with the former ultimately getting the role. However, Kochanowicz has struggled to a 6.03 ERA over 19 starts and was sent down to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday. When asked ahead of that demotion whether Detmers could be an option to move from the bullpen into a starting role, interim manager Ray Montgomery stated, "I would hate to say no to anything, but I don't think that's going to happen." Detmers has thrived in a setup role -- though he has posted a mediocre 4.15 ERA on the campaign, that is largely due to a horrific three-outing stretch in late April and early May during which he allowed 12 runs over one-third of an inning. Since then, the lefty has emerged as one of the Angels' top high-leverage options, posting a 1.24 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 38:13 K:BB over 29 frames spanning 28 appearances while recording eight holds and two saves.

Angels' Mike Trout: Closing in on milestones
Trout went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and four RBI in Saturday's 10-5 win over the Diamondbacks.
His big blow was a two-run homer off Zac Gallen in the fifth inning, which gave the Halos a 6-2 lead. Trout is finding a groove heading into the All-Star break, going yard four times in the last seven games, and the 33-year-old is closing in on some big career milestones -- he needs five more home runs to reach 400, and six more RBI to hit 1,000.

Angels' Yusei Kikuchi: Pulled after comebacker
Kikuchi (4-6) picked up the win in Saturday's 10-5 victory over the Diamondbacks, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.
The southpaw served up a pair of solo shots to Eugenio Suarez but otherwise was in control until the sixth inning, when a 105 mph Josh Naylor comebacker with two outs struck him on the left shoulder. He stayed in the game for one more batter, but after a Randal Grichuk RBI single made it a 6-3 game, interim manager Ray Montgomery elected to lift the Angels' lone All-Star representative as a precaution, leaving him one out shy of his ninth quality start. There's been no word yet that he sustained any kind of lingering injury, and Kikuchi heads into the break with a 3.11 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 115:49 K:BB through 113 innings.

Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Getting Saturday off
O'Hoppe isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks.
O'Hoppe went 1-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and a steal during a win in Friday's series opener. He'll stay put in the dugout to begin Saturday's contest while Travis d'Arnaud starts behind the plate and bats eighth.

Angels' Brock Burke: Secures 10th hold Friday
Burke notched a hold against the Diamondbacks on Friday with a perfect inning of work.
Burke inherited a 5-4 lead when he entered in the sixth inning and breezed through a trio of Arizona hitters on 13 pitches. The southpaw hasn't been getting used much in high-leverage situations of late -- this was his first hold since June 16 -- but he's been one of the Angels' most effective relievers for the past month. Since June 7, Burke has posted a 0.73 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB over 12.1 frames spanning 17 appearances. He's largely been used in brief spurts as a lefty specialist, as nine of those 17 outings have lasted less than one full inning.
