  • Angels' Chris Taylor: Rejoins Angels

Taylor signed a contract with the Angels on Thursday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

No details of the deal are currently known, but presumably it's a short-term contract that gives Taylor a good chance of starting the campaign on the big-league roster. He ended the 2025 season with the Angels and hit .179 with two homers and 10 RBI across only 90 plate appearances with the club. Taylor will likely be in a reserve role, but he could get several starts per week due to his ability to play all three outfield spots as well as second and third base.

  • Angels' Hunter Strickland: Looking healthy for camp

Strickland (shoulder) tossed a bullpen session Wednesday during the Angels' first workout of spring training, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Strickland didn't make any appearances in the majors or minors after July 6 last season due to a right shoulder strain, but he looks to be fully healthy as spring training gets underway. The veteran right-hander is attending camp as a non-roster invitee and will need to perform well during the Cactus League to clinch a spot in the Angels' Opening Day bullpen. Strickland made 19 appearances for the Halos last season, notching one save and two holds while posting a 3.27 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in 22 innings.

  • Angels' Grayson Rodriguez: Appears to be healthy for camp

Rodriguez (elbow) threw a bullpen session Wednesday and doesn't appear to be facing any restrictions to begin spring training, Buster Olney of ESPN reports.

Per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com, Angels manager Kurt Suzuki noted Tuesday that Rodriguez will have to prove he's healthy during spring training to secure his spot in the Opening Day rotation, but the 26-year-old righty is off to a good start. Health was a major concern for Rodriguez through three seasons with Baltimore, but he displayed plenty of promise when available, pitching to a 4.11 ERA (3.98 xERA) and 18.0 K%-BB% over 238.2 innings. However, after he had his entire 2025 campaign wiped out due to lat and elbow injuries, including a debridement procedure in August to remove a bone spur, expect Rodriguez's workload to be monitored carefully in his first season with Anaheim.

  • Angels' Yusei Kikuchi: No limitations in camp

Kikuchi (forearm) faced live hitters Wednesday in his first throwing session of spring training, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Kikuchi exited his final start of 2025 on Sept. 24 due to what the Angels called a left forearm cramp. The veteran southpaw looks to have had a normal offseason and appears to be ahead of most of the rest of the pitching staff, as Kikuchi is set to leave the team in the coming days to join Team Japan ahead of the World Baseball Classic. Per Bollinger, first-year manager Kurt Suzuki said Tuesday that Kikuchi is one of three pitchers locked into rotation spots, and the 34-year-old could get the nod for Opening Day versus the Astros.

  • Angels' Ben Joyce: Cleared for mound work

Joyce (shoulder) is slated to throw a bullpen session off a half mound Wednesday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Joyce is beginning spring training slightly behind the Angels' healthy pitchers, but working off a mound this early in camp is a promising sign. That said, manager Kurt Suzuki wouldn't guarantee Tuesday that Joyce would be ready to go for Opening Day, as the Angels plan to take a day-by-day approach with the flame-throwing righty reliever. The 25-year-old missed the final five months of the 2025 season after undergoing surgery in May to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder.

  • Angels' Robert Stephenson: One week behind schedule

Stephenson said Wednesday that he's about a week behind schedule after dealing with a nerve issue and thoracic outlet syndrome symptoms this offseason, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Stephenson insists that he feels good now, and with a bullpen session set for later this week he's not worried about missing Opening Day. The veteran reliever missed all of 2024 following UCL reconstruction with an internal brace, and he made only 20 total appearances in 2025 due to more arm problems. It's positive news that Stephenson is currently in a good spot, and he will be among those in the mix to close games for the Angels in 2026 if he can stay healthy. That said, he remains a major health risk.

  • Angels' Reid Detmers: Loses arbitration case

Detmers will make $2.625 million in 2026 after losing his arbitration hearing with the Angels on Tuesday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Detmers had filed for $2.925 million, but he will receive the lower of the two figures after finishing the 2025 campaign with a 3.96 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 63.2 innings. The 26-year-old southpaw worked exclusively out of the bullpen last year, but manager Kurt Suzuki confirmed Tuesday that Detmers will begin 2026 in the Angels' rotation regardless of how he performs during spring training.

  • Angels' Reid Detmers: Rotation spot secure

Manager Kurt Suzuki confirmed Tuesday that Detmers (elbow) is viewed as a lock for the Angels' Opening Day rotation, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Though Detmers found some success while working as a full-time reliever in 2025 (3.08 xFIP, 20.7 K-BB% in 63.2 innings), Angels general manager Perry Minasian said back in October that the left-hander earned another opportunity to prove he belongs in the rotation. Detmers apparently won't even need to earn his spot in the rotation with a strong showing in spring training; in addition to Detmers, Suzuki said that Yusei Kikuchi and Jose Soriano are also locked in as starters heading into the start of camp, while Grayson Rodriguez (elbow) will clinch a spot if he emerges from the spring healthy. Though he didn't pitch over the final weeks of this past season after experiencing elbow inflammation, Detmers didn't require offseason surgery and looks like he'll be 100 percent at the onset of camp.

  • Angels' Alek Manoah: Needs to work for rotation spot

Angels manager Kurt Suzuki said Tuesday that Manoah will have to earn his place in the starting rotation, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old joined the Halos on a one-year, $1.95 million contract in December, but he was never likely to have much in the form of guaranteed playing time after spending most of 2025 rehabbing from UCL surgery. Manoah should still be the favorite to win a job at the back end of Anaheim's rotation, given the club's other starting options.

  • Angels' Grayson Rodriguez: Rotation spot not yet secured

Angels manager Kurt Suzuki indicated Tuesday that Rodriguez (elbow) will have to prove he's healthy and earn his place in the starting rotation, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander was acquired from the Orioles in November, but the Angels won't immediately guarantee him a spot in the starting rotation. Rodriguez was sidelined all of 2025 due to lat and elbow injuries and has had his fair share of health issues throughout his career. The 26-year-old seems likely to make the rotation if he can stay healthy, but that's hardly a given for the former top prospect.

  • Angels' Ben Joyce: Uncertain for Opening Day

Manager Kurt Suzuki said Joyce (shoulder) is playing catch, but it remains to be seen if the right-hander will be ready by Opening Day, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

The 25-year-old made just five appearances in 2025 due to shoulder issues, which necessitated surgery to repair a torn labrum in May. It's encouraging that Joyce has started up a throwing program, but he'll require a significant ramp-up period while coming back from major surgery. Once healthy, he could be part of the closer mix for the Angels, along with Robert Stephenson and Kirby Yates.

  • Angels' Kaleb Ort: Reporting to Triple-A

Ort (elbow) was sent outright to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

Ort lost his spot on the 40-man roster Friday after the club signed Brent Suter. After going unclaimed on waivers, Ort will report to Triple-A to prepare for the upcoming 2026 campaign. The status of his elbow remains unclear at this time.

  • Angels' Hunter Strickland: Re-ups with Angels on MiLB deal

The Angels re-signed Strickland (shoulder) to a minor-league contract Monday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Strickland missed the entire second half of the 2025 season with a right shoulder strain and it's unclear what his current health status is. The veteran reliever held a 3.27 ERA in 19 appearances for the Angels before getting hurt, but a 14:10 K:BB in 22 innings didn't make a pretty picture. If healthy, Strickland could eventually work his way into a middle-relief role for the Halos, but an initial stint at Triple-A Salt Lake is likely.

  • Angels' Brent Suter: Latches on with Angels

The Angels signed Suter to a one-year, $1.25 million major-league contract Friday, Taylor Blake Ward of Baseball America reports.

Suter will join the Halos for the 2026 season after spending the last two years in Cincinnati. The 36-year-old reliever appeared in 48 games with the Reds last season, posting a 4.52 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 53:18 K:BB across 67.2 regular-season innings. He's the fourth significant addition to the Angels' bullpen this offseason, as the team already added Jordan Romano, Drew Pomeranz and Kirby Yates through free agency.

  • Angels' Kaleb Ort: Booted from 40-man roster

The Angels designated Ort (elbow) for assignment Friday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Brent Suter. Ort has been in three organizations already this offseason and could make it a fourth if he's claimed off waivers. He missed the final month of last season with an elbow injury and it's unclear whether he's fully healthy.

  • Angels' Tyler Anderson: Back with Halos on MiLB deal

Anderson (oblique) signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Wednesday.

After signing a $39 million deal with the Angels in November 2022, Anderson largely disappointed during his three seasons in Anaheim, posting a collective 18-29 record, 4.53 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 8.6 K-BB% over 456.2 innings. Though he'll end up rejoining the Angels, the 36-year-old lefty isn't included among the team's initial list of non-roster invitees for big-league spring training and is seemingly ticketed for the Triple-A Salt Lake rotation. Anderson -- who closed last season on the injured list due to an oblique strain -- is presumably healthy now, but it looks like he'll need to prove he still has something left in the tank at the Triple-A level before the Angels consider adding him back to the 40-man roster.

  • Angels' Tayler Saucedo: Signs NRI pact with Angels

The Angels signed Saucedo to a minor-league contract Wednesday that includes an invitation to big-league spring training.

Saucedo has posted a 4.36 ERA and 112:58 K:BB over 128 frames covering parts of five major-league seasons. The 32-year-old spent most of 2025 in the minors and faces an uphill battle to make the Opening Day roster, even in an unsettled Angels bullpen.

... See More ... See Less
  • Angels' Jeimer Candelario: Grabs NRI pact from Halos

The Angels signed Candelario to a minor-league contract Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Candelario was released by the Reds last season after slashing just .113/.198/.213 over his first 22 games. He signed a minor-league deal with the Yankees after that but never got back to the majors. The Angels are lacking in third-base depth, giving Candelario a chance to see action with the big club at some point.

... See More ... See Less
  • Angels' Cody Laweryson: Removed from 40-man roster

The Angels designated Laweryson for assignment Monday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

The transaction frees a spot on the 40-man roster for the re-signing of Yoan Moncada, which was officially announced Monday. Laweryson was a waiver claim of the Angels back in November after he yielded two runs (one earned) with a 7:0 K:BB over 7.2 frames covering five relief outings for the Twins in 2025. He could be appealing on waivers to teams in need of bullpen depth.

... See More ... See Less
  • Angels' Wade Meckler: Remains in organization

The Angels outrighted Meckler to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.

He's no longer on the 40-man roster, but Meckler will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 25-year-old slashed .287/.390/.370 at Triple-A Sacramento in the Giants organization in 2025, though he hit just one home run across 87 games.
