Dodgers' Kirby Yates: IL stint likely
Manager Dave Roberts announced after Saturday's loss to the Angels that Yates (hamstring) will undergo an MRI on Sunday, and the skipper indicated he expects the right-hander to go on the injured list, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
The preliminary diagnosis is that Yates suffered a Grade 1 strain of his right hamstring, which will require a stint on the IL. Yates surrendered three earned runs over one-third of an inning during Saturday's contest, but prior to that he had a 2.95 ERA with a save and eight holds while working as a setup man this year. Assuming Yates is out for at least the next couple weeks, Alex Vesia should serve as the primary setup option to closer Tanner Scott.

Dodgers' Kirby Yates: Dealing with hamstring tightness
Yates left Saturday's game against the Angels due to right hamstring tightness, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.
Yates struggled in his outing Saturday before exiting with the training staff. A stint on the injured list is still possible, though it is positive that the injury is not related to his arm. Yates' loss would be significant as the Dodgers are already without other high-leverage relievers such as Blake Treinen (forearm), Evan Phillips (elbow) and Michael Kopech (shoulder).

Dodgers' Kirby Yates: Exits with trainer
Yates exited Saturday's game against the Angels with the training due to an apparent injury, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Yates faced five batters but recorded only one out and allowed two earned runs before exiting the contest. The nature of the issue is unclear, but there should be additional updates Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Dodgers' Kirby Yates: Moves to injured list
Yates (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday.
Manager Dave Roberts indicated after Saturday's loss to the Angels that he expected Yates to require a stint on the injured list, so it's not a surprise that he's been moved to the shelf. The right-hander is dealing with a Grade 1 strain of his right hamstring and will be eligible to be reinstated June 2, though there's no guarantee he'll be ready to be activated at that time.

Dodgers' Kirby Yates: Earns first save
Yates struck out two batters in a perfect inning to earn a save against Miami on Monday.
Yates saw his first save chance since blowing one against Texas on April 19 and saw much better results. He threw 10 of 16 pitches for strikes to quickly retire Miami's 3-4-5 hitters in order. He dropped his season ERA to 2.76 with an impressive 28:5 K:BB through 16.1 frames. Tanner Scott picked up his fourth hold by recording two outs in the eighth inning.

Dodgers' Kirby Yates: Blows save in Texas
Yates (1-1) allowed two runs on two hits without recording an out to take the loss and a blown save Saturday against the Rangers.
The right-hander entered to protect a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning against his former club, but a Josh Smith double and Adolis Garcia two-run homer quickly resulted in a walk-off win for the Rangers. It was the first save chance of the year for Yates, who entered the contest with six straight scoreless appearances and a 1.74 ERA for the season. Tanner Scott picked up his seventh save of the campaign in Friday's contest and should continue to operate as manager Dave Roberts' primary option at closer.

Dodgers' Kirby Yates: Nabs win in relief
Yates (1-0) earned the win over the Nationals on Wednesday, striking out two batters in a perfect inning of work.
Yates was called upon in the sixth inning with Los Angeles down a run. He retired the side in order on 12 pitches, fanning the final two batters he faced. Yates was then put in line for the victory when the Dodgers scored twice in the bottom of the frame. The veteran reliever hasn't notched a hold since his first outing of the campaign, but he's been effective in his first season with the club, holding the opponent scoreless in six of his seven appearances to date. Yates holds a 2.84 ERA and 0.79 WHIP along with a dominant 13:1 K:BB through 6.1 frames.
