Player Outlook
Walker remains a quality No. 2 Fantasy running back with the upside to be a No. 1 guy, which is why he remains a consideration with a pick inside the top 35. He figures to work as Seattle's lead running back. Seattle has changed offensive coordinators again, but Walker's work in the passing game last season proved that he's a decent fit in a playbook that does call for running back targets. Obviously, Walker is at his best when he routinely gets 15-plus touches in a game, averaging 16.8 PPR points in 30 such matchups in his past three seasons. More could be coming in what amounts to a contract year for him in 2025. If you feel good about Walker hitting that mark weekly, and are OK with the injury risks associated with him (he's missed at least two games every season), then Walker should be on your wish list. Just know that his first two games this year are against the 49ers and the Steelers, so exercise some patience if he doesn't come out of the gate on fire.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Continues to deal with ankle injury

Coach Mike Macdonald said Tuesday that Walker has been limited during Seattle's offseason program due to an ankle injury, but the running back "should be fine," Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports Walker tended to an ankle issue down the stretch last season, making just one Week 16 appearance over the final five contests before landing on injured reserve. He's missed 10 total regular-season games over his first three NFL campaigns, but when he's been able to suit up, he's averaged 79.3 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring 26 touchdowns in 41 contests. The Seahawks have OTAs scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday this week and mandatory minicamp on deck next Tuesday, so Walker has a few more chances to mix into drills before training camp in late July. Zach Charbonnet should continue to handle first-team reps for as long as Walker is held out.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: On field for OTAs

Walker (ankle) is participating in Seattle's voluntary OTAs, per the team's official site. Walker is pictured among teammates participating in the Seahawks' second week of OTAs, which began Monday. Now healthy and heading into the final year of his rookie deal, Walker's situation in Seattle's backfield remains familiar. If he can avoid the injury bug and stay 100 percent healthy, something Walker has struggled to accomplish through his first three seasons in the NFL, he looks entrenched as the starter ahead of Zach Charbonnet. The arrival of new starting quarterback Sam Darnold could allow this offense to take a step forward in 2025, while new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak's scheme, which focuses on zone rushes, is an ideal fit for Walker's tough running style and explosiveness. Health remains the most pivotal factor in prognosticating Walker, but if he's able to break the pattern of lower-body injuries hampering him, it won't be surprising if the 2022 second-round pick outperforms his ADP in 2025 fantasy drafts.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Struggles in third season

Walker (ankle) rushed 153 times for 573 yards and seven touchdowns and caught 46 passes (on 53 targets) for 299 yards and a touchdown across 11 games in 2024. Walker popped out of the gate with 103 yards on the ground in the season opener, but he eclipsed the 80-yard rushing mark only one other time the rest of the season. He dealt with multiple injuries, including an ankle injury that ended his season. When the 2022 second-round pick was healthy, he was the clear starting running back ahead of Zach Charbonnet. However, Charbonnet looked solid down the stretch with 60 carries for 303 yards (5.0 YPC) and three touchdowns over the final five games. Walker should be healthy to start the 2025 season -- the final year of his contract -- and he'll need to perform well and stay healthy to stave off Charbonnet.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Moves to injured reserve

The Seahawks placed Walker (ankle) on injured reserve Thursday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports. Walker already was ruled out for Thursday's game at Chicago due to an ankle injury that he sustained in the second half of this past Sunday's loss to the Vikings, but he'll now be out Week 18 and for any playoff matchups that Seattle would have before the NFC Championship Game, assuming the team qualifies and makes it that far. In the meantime, Zach Charbonnet will pace the Seahawks backfield while Kenny McIntosh backs him up.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Not playing in Week 17

Walker (ankle) has been ruled out for Thursday's game at Chicago, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Walker returned from a two-game absence due to a calf injury this past Sunday against the Vikings, but he suffered an ankle issue in the second half and finished Week 16 with 16 touches for 59 yards from scrimmage. Now that the Seahawks have made a decision on his availability for Week 17 action, Walker again will hand off the Seahawks backfield to Zach Charbonnet, who reeled off 259 total yards and three rushing touchdowns on 38 touches when Walker was out Weeks 14 and 15.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Sits out practice Tuesday

The Seahawks estimated Walker (ankle) as a non-participant during Tuesday's walk-through practice, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Walker was a spectator for the team's second walkthrough of the week after tweaking his ankle in Seattle's 27-24 loss to Minnesota on Sunday. The running back could be in danger of missing his fifth game of the season this Thursday in Chicago. if that's the case, Zach Charbonnet (elbow) -- who was listed as a full participant Tuesday -- could be tasked with handling a three-down role in Week 17.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Cleared for return

Walker (calf) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Minnesota, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Walker returned to full practice participation Thursday and now figures to return to his role as Seattle's lead runner, although it's possible he gets less work than usual, given that it's his first game back from a two-week absence in which Zach Charbonnet filled in more than capably. That said, Walker has been the clear top RB whenever healthy this season, sometimes getting more snaps than Charbonnet on passing downs as well.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Status TBD for Week 16

Coach Mike Macdonald said Walker (calf) had a good workout Monday, but the running back's status remains in limbo, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. Walker has missed back-to-back contests due to a calf injury, and he also hasn't practiced since Wednesday, Dec. 4. Macdonald added, "We'll see," regarding Walker's chances to take the field Wednesday, when the Seahawks are slated for their first session of Week 16 prep. Zach Charbonnet has filled in for Walker during his absence, turning 38 touches into 259 yards from scrimmage and three rushing TDs, and even Kenny McIntosh has gotten some run (12 touches for 54 total yards) over the last two games.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Officially inactive Sunday

Walker (calf) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Packers. Walker hasn't practiced since Wednesday, Dec. 4 due to a lingering calf injury, and considering he was listed as doubtful for Week 15 action, his lack of availability Sunday isn't much of a surprise. He'll turn his focus to getting healthy for next Sunday's matchup with the Vikings while yielding No. 1 RB duties to Zach Charbonnet for a second consecutive contest. Charbonnet netted 193 yards from scrimmage and two rushing TDs on 29 touches in Week 14 at Arizona, and Kenny McIntosh even tallied nine touches for 45 total yards in reserve.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Listed as doubtful for Sunday

Coach Mike Macdonald said Friday that Walker "hasn't practiced yet (this week), so we listed him as doubtful" for Sunday night's game against the Packers, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Such a listing indicates Walker is more likely than not to miss a second consecutive contest, but Macdonald noted that the third-year running back has made some progress in his recovery, indicating he may be able to return Week 16 against the Vikings if he's inactive again this weekend. Zach Charbonnet thus appears slated to headline Seattle's backfield in Walker's place Sunday, which resulted in 29 touches for 193 yards from scrimmage and two rushing TDs in a Week 14 win at Arizona.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: No practice again Thursday

Walker (calf) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Coach Mike Macdonald relayed to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic on Wednesday that Walker still was day-to-day, and the running back's status for Sunday's game versus the Packers was up in the air. Per Dugar, Walker's lack of practice reps so far this week won't preclude him from playing this weekend if his calf is deemed able to hold up. If Walker is limited or inactive Sunday, though, Zach Charbonnet would garner a second spot start in a row, with Kenny McIntosh also on hand for reps out of the Seahawks backfield.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Could return for Week 15

Walker, who has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Arizona due to an ankle injury and a calf issue, did not suffer a setback this week and could return to action next Sunday versus Green Bay, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Walker went from a limited practice Wednesday to no participation in practices Thursday and Friday, but Schefter suggests that the downturn in activity wasn't the result of a setback. While Walker won't be able to take the field in Sunday's clash with the Cardinals that has huge implications for the NFC playoff picture, the third-year running back appears to have a chance of returning to action for another critical contest in Week 15. With Walker out this week, Zach Charbonnet will likely lead Seattle's backfield, with Kenny McIntosh and George Holani working behind him.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Unavailable for Sunday

Walker (ankle/calf) has been downgraded to out and will not play Sunday against the Cardinals. In what could be a critical game for the NFC West title, the Seahawks will be without their best running back. Head coach Mike Macdonald didn't seem all that optimistic Walker would play when asked about his status earlier this week, but with the 1,000-yard rusher now out, Zach Charbonnet will need to absorb a major bump in work in his stead. Charbonnet recorded 32 carries for 129 yards and three touchdowns to go along with eight receptions for 46 yards in his previous two games as a starter back in Weeks 2 and 3, so fantasy managers can assume the second-year back will see close to a similar workload come Sunday.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Considered uncertain for Sunday

Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said Friday that he isn't sure if Walker (ankle/calf) will play Sunday at Arizona, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports. Macdonald said "I just don't know right now" when a reporter asked him Friday afternoon "which side of questionable" the running back falls on after missing every practice this week. In other words, Walker is genuinely questionable and not just listed as such to create confusion for the opponent or protect against an unlikely late setback. He handled his normal workload in last week's 26-21 win over the Jets but apparently came out of the game with new injuries to his calf and ankle, potentially opening the door for Zach Charbonnet to take over the lead backfield role Week 14. A late-afternoon kickoff (4:05 p.m. ET) is suboptimal for fantasy managers in the event Walker comes down to a game-time decision.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Listed as questionable

Walker (ankle/calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Arizona, Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic reports. More information should be available after the Seahawks finish Friday's practice and coach Mike Macdonald speaks to the media. Walker was a limited practice participant Wednesday and a non-participant Thursday, with the downgrade leading to concern about his availability for a key NFC West matchup. Fellow Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet took on huge workloads earlier this season when Walker missed a couple games with a groin/abdominal injury.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: DNP on Thursday

Walker (ankle/calf) didn't take part in practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. One day removed from being limited due to ankle and calf injuries Wednesday, Walker was held out of drills entirely as a result of the new health concerns. There's been no indication, one way or another, if he's in danger of missing Sunday's contest at Arizona. Ultimately, Friday's practice report will reveal whether or not Walker heads into the weekend with a designation for Week 14 action. Zach Charbonnet would take on more work if Walker is inhibited or sidelined.
... See More ... See Less
  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Dealing with new health concerns

Walker was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to ankle and calf injuries, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Walker previous dealt with an oblique issue and an illness this season, so the health concerns that are affecting his reps to begin Week 14 prep are new ones. In the 10 games in which he's been active this season, he's earned a 60 percent snap share eight times, and he's averaged 19.3 touches for 84.4 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring six touchdowns in those contests. How Walker fares in practice Thursday and Friday likely will determine whether he'll continue to be the 1A in the Seahawks backfield over Zach Charbonnet for Sunday's game in Arizona.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Bottled up in win over Jets

Walker rushed 16 times for 49 yards while catching two of three targets for minus-3 yards in Sunday's 26-21 win over the Jets. Walker had just 16 rushing yards on seven first-half carries while Zach Charbonnet got 18 yards on only two rushing attempts. The lead back then had a 27-yard run called back on a holding penalty on Seattle's first offensive play of the third quarter and was stuffed from the one-yard line later in the third quarter during a string of seven consecutive plays inside the five-yard line that culminated in a turnover on downs. Walker ended up with a 16-4 edge in rushing attempts over Charbonnet, but the backup scored the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter. Having handled at least 16 touches in all but two of his 10 appearances this season, Walker should get ample opportunities to bounce back from this disappointing outing in Week 14 against the Cardinals.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Tops 90 scrimmage yards Sunday

Walker carried the ball 16 times for 41 yards and caught four of six targets for 52 yards in Sunday's 16-6 win over the Cardinals. The third-year back has become a consistent pass-catching threat in 2024 under new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. Walker has already set new career highs with 36 catches and 274 receiving yards on the season in only nine games, and he's hauled in multiple passes in each of those contests. He'll look to keep rolling in Week 13 against the Jets.

  • Seahawks' Kenneth Walker: Punches in touchdown Sunday

Walker took 14 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown while catching both of his targets for five yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the 49ers. Walker turned in an efficient rushing performance given the amount of touches he received in a defensive bout between NFC West rivals. The 24-year-old's 3.9 yards-per-carry mark was weighed down by a pair of short carries from in close that netted the back his seventh rushing touchdown of the season. Walker should continue leading Seattle's backfield in a critical NFC West matchup against the Cardinals next Sunday.
