  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Four grabs in win

Waddle brought in four of eight targets for 46 yards in the Dolphins' 15-10 win over the Patriots on Sunday. Waddle checked in tied for second in targets and third in both receptions and receiving yards on the afternoon for the Dolphins, flashing some improved chemistry with quarterback Tyler Huntley. The upside of Waddle and the other members of the Dolphins' air attack is naturally capped without Tua Tagovailoa (IR-concussion), but the fourth-year wideout heads into a Week 6 bye with no fewer than four receptions in any game this season, albeit while exceeding 41 receiving yards only once. Waddle will likely work with Huntley for at least one more game when the Dolphins face the Colts on Sunday, Oct. 20 following a Week 6 bye.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Team-high yardage total in loss

Waddle secured four of six targets for 36 yards in the Dolphins' 31-12 loss to the Titans on Monday night. Miami's offense ironically got off on a very good foot with 30 yards over its first two plays, and Waddle accounted for 14 of those on the Dolphins' first play from scrimmage. However, much like the team as a whole, it would go on to be a quiet and largely unproductive night for Waddle, who did record an 18-yard grab in the fourth quarter but gained just four yards on his other two catches. Like fellow wideout Tyreek Hill, Waddle doesn't figure to come close to flashing his true potential while working with either Tyler Huntley or Skylar Thompson (ribs) as his quarterback, and he'll face a pair of talented Patriots cornerbacks in a Week 5 road matchup.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: WRs to Sit

In his first game without Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) this season in Week 3 at Seattle, Waddle had four catches for 26 yards on five targets. It will be tough to trust Waddle in all leagues without Tagovailoa, but hopefully whoever starts at quarterback for the Dolphins in Week 4 can help Waddle and Tyreek Hill show signs of life. I'm still going to trust Hill as a No. 2 Fantasy receiver in all leagues, but I'm sitting Waddle until he does something of significance with a backup quarterback.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Another modest showing Sunday

Waddle secured four of five targets for 26 yards in the Dolphins' 24-3 loss to the Seahawks on Sunday. Like his position mate Tyreek Hill, Waddle saw his considerable upside capped by having to play with Skylar Thompson (ribs), and upon the latter's exit from the contest, Tim Boyle, as his two quarterbacks. Waddle now has back-to-back four-reception outings, and he's netted a forgettable 67 receiving yards in that pair of contests. There's not much reason for optimism in the short term, either, as Tua Tagovailoa's (IR-concussion) future is in limbo and Thompson may have an uphill battle to be ready for a Week 4 Monday night home matchup against the Titans.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: WRs to Sit

Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) getting hurt is awful news for Waddle. He's played eight games in his career without Tagovailoa, and Waddle has 42 catches for 453 yards over that span with no touchdowns. That's an average of 5.3 catches and 56.6 yards per game. While Tyreek Hill remains a must-start Fantasy receiver -- he has 25 catches for 302 yards and a rushing touchdown in four games without Tagovailoa -- Waddle is tougher to trust. I would only start Waddle in three-receiver leagues in Week 3 at Seattle with Skylar Thompson under center.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Four catches in Week 2 loss

Waddle brought in all four targets for 41 yards and rushed once for four yards in the Dolphins' 31-10 loss to the Bills on Thursday night. Considering how ineffective Tua Tagovailoa was in an injury-shortened three-interception performance and the fact Waddle was pulled from the game early due to the lopsided score, the fourth-year wideout's numbers weren't a complete washout. Waddle actually outproduced position mate Tyreek Hill (3-24-0) through the air, but his numbers still were a far cry from his 5-109-0 line Week 1 versus the Jaguars. Waddle will look to boost his numbers back up with either Tagovailoa or Skylar Thompson as his quarterback in a Week 3 road matchup against the Seahawks on Sunday, Sept. 22.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Clears 100-yard mark in Week 1 win

Waddle brought in all five targets for 109 yards in the Dolphins' 20-17 win over the Jaguars on Sunday. He also rushed once for three yards. Waddle was overshadowed by fellow wideout Tyreek Hill -- who finished with seven receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown -- but the fourth-year pro made quite an impact in his own right. The Alabama product connected with Tua Tagovailoa for a big 63-yard reception to start an early third-quarter drive, and he also played a key role in a late second-quarter march that resulted in the Dolphins' first touchdown by drawing a pass interference penalty and subsequently recording a 20-yard grab. Waddle also was evaluated for a concussion in the first half but cleared after a visit to the medical tent, per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com. Waddle won't have to wait long to attempt to build on his impressive season-opening effort, as the Bills come to town for a Week 2 divisional showdown Thursday night.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Practicing with non-contact jersey

Waddle (undisclosed) is wearing a non-contact jersey Monday at practice, Alain Poupart of SI.com reports. Waddle's participation in any fashion is a good sign for the Dolphins, 13 days ahead of their regular-season opener against Jacksonville. The WR room has been hit by injury after injury this summer, but it seems Waddle and Tyreek Hill (hand) are on track to be ready for Week 1, leaving the lower portion of the depth chart as the bigger question mark.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Back at practice Wednesday

Waddle (undisclosed) is practicing in full pads Wednesday and confirmed that he's nursing a minor injury, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. It's unclear whether Waddle participated in team drills Wednesday, per Omar Kelly of The Miami Herald, but in any case, it's encouraging to see the star wide receiver back at practice for the first time since Aug. 7. Waddle also noted that his undisclosed injury wouldn't have limited him during the regular season, but that the Dolphins opted for caution during the preseason. Friday's exhibition game against the Buccaneers will be Waddle's final chance to play during the preseason.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Still sidelined at practice

Waddle (undisclosed) did not practice Tuesday, Barry Jackson and Omar Kelly of The Miami Herald report. Waddle has missed roughly two weeks of practice due to an undisclosed injury which coach Mike McDaniel labeled as minor. It still doesn't seem like Waddle's status for Week 1 is in jeopardy, but the standout wide receiver could be in danger of missing his final opportunity to log preseason game reps, which will come Friday versus the Buccaneers. Tyreek Hill (hand) didn't participate in catching drills during Tuesday's practice, while Odell Beckham (undisclosed) remains on the active/PUP list and has yet to participate in training camp sessions. In addition, potential No. 3 option River Cracraft (upper body) is expected to miss significant time, so the focus for Miami's receiving corps may be on simply getting healthy before the start of the regular season.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Signs lucrative extension

Waddle signed a three-year, $84.75 million contract extension with the Dolphins on Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The deal includes $76 million guaranteed. Waddle is now one of the top five highest-paid receivers in the NFL with an annual salary of $28.25 million. The 2021 first-round pick has been dominant since entering the league, ripping off three straight seasons with 1,000-plus yards, including a 2022 campaign where he produced 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns across 17 regular-season games. The 25-year-old battled injuries last season but is fully healthy ahead of the 2024 campaign. Waddle is still the clear No. 2 receiver behind Tyreek Hill, but there's clearly room for both players to produce as the fastest receiving duo in the league.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Fifth-year option to be exercised

General manager Chris Grier said Tuesday that he expects the Dolphins to pick up Waddle's fifth-year option, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. The Dolphins have consistently stated a desire to come to terms with Waddle on a long-term contract, and Grier specifically dismissed trade rumors earlier this offseason. The third-year pro has recorded three straight 1,000-yard seasons to begin his career, becoming the first wideout to do so in franchise history, and there's little question of his value as a No. 2 read behind Tyreek Hill. Picking up Waddle's fifth-year option will keep him under contract with the Dolphins for two more seasons.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Quiet finish to season

Waddle (ankle) brought in two of five targets for 31 yards and rushed once for nine yards in the Dolphins' 26-7 wild-card loss to the Chiefs on Saturday night. Waddle was able to suit up after putting in three limited practices during the week following a two-game absence to close out the regular season. However, as his final numbers indicate, the third-year pro wasn't able to make any appreciable impact in the frigid temperatures. The disappointing conclusion to a once promising season aside, Waddle once again thrived as an ideal complement to Tyreek Hill in 2023, posting a 72-1,014-4 line during the regular season over 104 targets -- his third 1,000-yard tally in as many NFL campaigns -- and adding three carries for 12 yards across 14 games. With Waddle heading into the final year of his contract in 2024, the potential for an extension for the 2021 first-round pick figures to be the subject of plenty of discussion this offseason.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Back in action Saturday

Waddle (ankle) is listed as active for Saturday's wild-card game against the Chiefs. Waddle, who has missed two straight games due to a high-ankle sprain, logged limited listings Tuesday through Thursday before being deemed questionable for Saturday's contest. With his availability confirmed, Waddle is in line to reclaim a key role in Miami's passing offense in the absence of any in-game setbacks or limitations alongside fellow starting wideout Tyreek Hill. The duo will have to contend with frigid playing conditions in Kansas City, a variable that has a chance to hamper the upside of the Dolphins' passing attack in the team's postseason opener.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Questionable for playoff opener

Waddle (ankle) is listed as questionable for Saturday's wild-card game against the Chiefs. Waddle has missed two straight games with a high-ankle sprain, but the wideout's limited practice listings Tuesday through Thursday give him a chance to return to action for Miami's postseason opener. If Waddle is deemed active for Saturday's 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff, he'll be in a position to reclaim a key role in his team's passing offense alongside fellow starting wideout Tyreek Hill (ankle/quadriceps) in frigid playing conditions in Kansas City. In 14 games prior to missing time with the ankle injury, Waddle recorded a 72-1,014-4 line on 104 targets. Per Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com, head coach Mike McDaniel said Thursday that Waddle hasn't experienced any setbacks this week, while expressing his optimism about the pass catcher's chances of returning to action this weekend.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Likely to miss Week 18

Waddle (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills, isn't expected to play, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Waddle suffered a high-ankle sprain against Dallas in Week 16 and didn't play in last week's loss to Baltimore. He now appears set to sit out his second straight contest Sunday in a game that will determine the winner of the AFC East. Cedrick Wilson will thus likely start at wide receiver alongside Tyreek Hill, while Braxton Berrios, River Cracraft and Robbie Chosen could each see uptick in snaps on offense. The Dolphins have already locked up a postseason berth, and Pelissero notes that Waddle "should be ready for the playoffs."

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Not practicing Wednesday

Waddle (ankle) wasn't on the field for practice Wednesday, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports. Given that head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed earlier in the day that Waddle is dealing with a high-ankle sprain, the wideout's absence to begin Week 17 prep comes as little surprise. On the plus side, McDaniel described Waddle's ankle sprain as not "overly severe," adding that the Dolphins aren't yet ruling out the possibility that the receiver will be available Sunday against the Ravens.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: May have high-ankle injury

Coach Mike McDaniel said Monday that Waddle may have suffered a high-ankle injury during Sunday's 22-20 win against the Cowboys, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Waddle first departed in Week 16 due to an eye injury, but after he was cleared to return, he eventually exited again due to what was called a shin issue at the time. After further testing, the Dolphins are honing in on the nature of the concern, and if he's diagnosed with the injury mentioned by McDaniel on Monday, Waddle could be in line for an absence of some kind. Wednesday's practice report will reveal how much work, if any, Waddle was able to handle as the team begins prep for Sunday's showdown at Baltimore.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Returns to action

Waddle (eye) returned to Sunday's game against the Cowboys, according to Adam H. Beasley of ProFootballNetwork.com. Waddle briefly left Sunday's contest with an eye issue, but it was not severe enough to bring his outing to an early end.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Contrarian DFS Play (WR Preview)

We expect Hill to return this week, which should drive people off of Waddle. But there is at least a chance that Hill won't be 100% and Waddle will still be Tua Tagovailoa's top target. Waddle has been the quintessential DFS tournament play as of late with three of seven games over 19 PPR Fantasy points, topping 26 twice.
