  • Dolphins' Austin Jackson: Deemed healthy

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Tuesday that Jackson (knee) is healthy, Kaitlyn Pohly of the Miami Herald reports. Jackson missed the final eight games of the 2024 season but is back to full health. He's expected to man right tackle for the Dolphins this coming season.

  • Dolphins' Austin Jackson: Still recovering

Head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters Wednesday that Jackson (knee) is still in the recovery process, C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports. Jackson missed the final eight games of Miami's 2024 campaign due to a knee injury, and it appears he's still recovering from the issue. When the 25-year-old returns from injury, he's expected to assume a leadership role on the Dolphins' offensive line and start at right tackle.

  • Dolphins' Austin Jackson: Steps into leadership role

Jackson (knee) is the Dolphins' longest-tenured player along the offensive line following the retirement of Terron Armstead and is poised for a leadership role in 2025, in addition to his starting duties at right tackle, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN reports. Jackson becomes the leader of a group introducing a new starter at right guard in James Daniels (Achilles), and relying on 2024 second-round pick Patrick Paul to develop into a starting-quality left tackle after a rough rookie year. With Jackson now healthy after having his 2024 campaign cut short due to a knee injury, Miami's chances of avoiding disastrously low quality O-line play rest in no small part on the right tackle's shoulders.

  • Dolphins' Austin Jackson: Ruled out for Monday

Jackson (knee) won't play Monday against the Rams, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. Jackson has dealt with a knee issue all week and wasn't able to practice in any capacity. With the 2020 first-round draft pick unable to suit up Monday, Kendall Lamm or Patrick Paul could start at right tackle for Miami. According to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com, head coach Mike McDaniel said Jackson's knee issue isn't viewed as season-ending, but the 25-year-old might need surgery to address the injury.

  • Dolphins' Austin Jackson: Could play Week 16

Jackson (oblique) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports. Jackson exited Miami's Week 15 win over the Jets after sustaining an oblique injury, but he was able to record a limited practice session Friday after opening up the team's week of practice with back-to-back DNPs. Kendall Lamm would likely assume the Dolphins' top right tackle duties if Jackson is unable to go Sunday.

  • Dolphins' Austin Jackson: Inks three-year extension

Jackson agreed to a three-year, $36 million contract extension with the Dolphins on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Jackson, a 2020 first-round pick, is in the midst of an impressive 2023 campaign, in which he finally appears to have put it all together on the field after some early-career struggles. The Dolphins declined Jackson's $14.18 million team option for 2024 last offseason after ankle issues limited him to just three games in 2022, but the right tackle now gets a long-term deal to stay in Miami and safeguard Tua Tagovailoa's blindside.

  • Dolphins' Austin Jackson: Working back from offseason surgery

Jackson said Tuesday that he underwent reconstructive surgery on his right ankle during the offseason, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports. Jackson played only three games in 2022 due to nagging ankle issues and had two stints on injured reserve, but it appears the surgery was both minor and successful as he was participating in team drills during the first day of OTAs. The 2020 first-round pick added that he's "angry excited" to get back on the field, and he should be the favorite for the starting right tackle gig in 2023.
