Pages is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta. Pages briefly climbed to the top spot on the depth chart at catcher after Ivan Herrera (back) joined Willson Contreras (forearm) on the 10-day injured list Saturday, but Contreras was activated ahead of Monday's game and will slot in behind the plate for the series opener versus Atlanta. The Cardinals could manage Contreras' workload more carefully in his first week back with the team, but Pages will likely be headed for a stark downturn in playing time in any case. Pages had started each of the Cardinals' last four games and nine of the past 10.... See More ... See Less

Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Records first career steal
Pages went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Giants. The steal was the first of Pages' young career, and Sunday also saw the rookie catcher log his first multi-hit effort. He's hit safely in six of his last 10 games, going 7-for-33 (.212) in that span to lift his season slash line to .155/.227/.276 over 66 plate appearances. Pages has seen a majority of the playing time at catcher lately, as Ivan Herrera was battling back tightness that ultimately landed him on the injured list. Pages is expected to slip back into a backup role when Willson Contreras (forearm) returns, though it's possible Pages maintains some steady playing time since the Cardinals value his defensive skills.... Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Stepping in as top backstop
Pages will start at catcher and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Giants. Pages had already worked his way into a regular role behind the plate versus left-handed pitching while Ivan Herrera served as St. Louis' designated hitter in those matchups, but Pages will stick in the lineup against a right-hander (Logan Webb) on Sunday for the fourth straight contest. With Herrera going on the injured list Saturday with lower-back tightness, Pages will serve as the Cardinals' No. 1 backstop, but his reign atop the depth chart could be short-lived. Willson Contreras (forearm) made his fifth rehab appearance Saturday with Triple-A Memphis and could be ready to return from the 10-day IL and reclaim the No. 1 role for St. Louis as soon as Monday versus Atlanta.... Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Provides offense in win
Pages went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Cubs. Pages has homered in two of his last three games, and his second-inning blast was all the run support Miles Mikolas needed in Sunday's win. It's been a challenging first season for Pages, who has a .132/.239/.316 slash line over 46 plate appearances, but he's received more playing time this week at the expense of Ivan Herrera.... Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Playing time trending up
Pages will start at catcher and bat ninth in Saturday's game against the Cubs. Pages is getting another start after slugging his first major-league home run and also catching a shutout Friday. It marks three straight starts for the 25-year-old and five starts across the Cardinals' last six games. Ivan Herrera is also in Saturday's lineup, serving as the designated hitter for the second day in a row.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Hits first career homer
Pages went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-0 win over the Cubs. Pages opened the scoring with his first career homer, taking Hayden Wesneski deep in the eighth inning. This was Pages' fourth start over the Cardinals' last five games, though he's gone just 3-for-12 in that span. All of his starts have come at catcher, which has taken a chunk out of Ivan Herrera's playing time. Pages is slashing just .125/.231/.250 with seven RBI, four runs scored and one double through 39 plate appearances. With Willson Contreras (forearm) tracking toward an earlier-than-anticipated return, Pages may be on his way back to Triple-A Memphis before the end of the month.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Scores twice Sunday
Pages went 1-for-2 with a walk, one RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Rockies. Pages' RBI came on a sacrifice fly in the second inning to open the scoring. The backup catcher has had few chances to make an impact, and he's rarely done so even when in the lineup. He's slashing .091/.241/.136 with no home runs, five RBI, three runs scored and a double over 29 plate appearances this season. Ivan Herrera seems set to hold down a starting job at catcher until Willson Contreras (forearm) returns, at which point Pages is likely ticketed for Triple-A Memphis.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Will be optioned Friday
Pages will be optioned to Triple-A Memphis prior to Friday's game in Arizona, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Pages was up briefly as catching protection for the Cardinals while a hand injury limited Willson Contreras to designated hitter duties. He struck out in his lone plate appearance in what was his major-league debut.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Recalled from Memphis
The Cardinals recalled Pages from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. With Willson Contreras (hand) unavailable for Thursday's home opener versus Miami, Pages will come up from the minors to give the Cardinals depth at catcher behind Ivan Herrera. Pages slashed .240/.367/.440 across 30 plate appearances during spring training and will be making his MLB debut once he gets into a game. Matt Carpenter (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Optioned to Triple-A
The Cardinals optioned Pages to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. Pages slashed .240/.367/.440 across 30 plate appearances this spring, but he will have to keep waiting for his call up to the majors with Willson Contreras and Ivan Herrera already in the Cards' catcher room. The 25-year-old Pages will be returning to Memphis for the first time since 2022, when he turned in a .640 OPS and 17 RBI across 172 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Heads to Triple-A
The Cardinals have promoted Pages from Double-A Springfield to Triple-A Memphis. Pages may be in line for a short-term stay at Triple-A, as Memphis is down a catcher at the moment while the status of Ali Sanchez remains in limbo following St. Louis' recent decision to designate him for assignment. The 23-year-old backstop has hit .232 with six home runs in 167 plate appearances at Springfield this season.... See More ... See Less
