Gorman went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Giants. Gorman got aboard on a fielder's choice and picked up a steal for the second game in a row. The second baseman has gone 0-for-9 with a hit-by-pitch and two sacrifice flies over his last three contests. He's gone 17 games without a multi-hit effort, batting a poor .078 (5-for-64) in that span, though two of those hits have been homers. The slump has him down to a .194/.272/.421 slash line with 16 home runs, 36 RBI, five steals and 31 runs scored across 70 contests. Gorman's struggled to hit for average over his three years in the majors, and a career-worst 35.9 percent strikeout rate isn't doing him any favors in 2024.... See More ... See Less

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers Wednesday
Gorman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins. Gorman led off the second inning with a 436-foot blast off Yonny Chirinos, cutting St. Louis' deficit to 2-1. It's the first homer in seven games for Gorman, who'd gone just 1-for-28 in that span. Overall, the 24-year-old second baseman is slashing .202/.278/.437 with 16 homers, 34 RBI, 31 runs scored and three steals across 67 games this year.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Exiting lineup versus lefty
Gorman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins. The lefty-hitting Gorman will take a seat for the series opener in Miami while southpaw Braxton Garrett toes the rubber for the Marlins. Jose Fermin will fill in at second base for Gorman, who is batting .186 against lefties this season.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Logs third steal
Gorman went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Cubs. Gorman entered Sunday just 1-for-28 over his last seven games, though the slump hasn't cost him playing time. The second baseman picked up a steal after his second-inning single, giving him three thefts on four attempts this year. For the season, Gorman is slashing .208/.287/.442 with 15 home runs, 33 RBI, 30 runs scored and eight doubles over 64 contests. He's also striking out at a 35.5 percent rate, and until he corrects that issue, he's likely to carry a low batting average.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Produces lone run
Gorman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run during Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Pirates. Neither team scored a run in the first eight innings of Tuesday's contest, with the Pirates scoring a pair of runs in the top of the ninth. Down 2-0, Gorman tried to kick-start a Cardinals comeback, leading off with a solo homer, but St. Louis couldn't plate the game-tying run. Since the start of June, Gorman is 10-for-38 (.263) with five homers, eight RBI and seven runs scored.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Keeps surging Tuesday
Gorman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Astros. Gorman has upped the power over the last week with six homers and 10 RBI over his last seven contests. That's still come with a swing-and-miss risk, as he's struck out 10 times in that span, but that's of little concern when he's making the most of whatever contact he gets. The second baseman is up to 14 homers, 31 RBI, 28 runs scored, two stolen bases, eight doubles and a .235/.320/.508 slash line through 206 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Delivers key hits Sunday
Gorman went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a walk in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Phillies. Gorman opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the first inning and also provided the Cardinals with their winning run by adding an RBI single in the 10th. This was his fourth multi-hit effort over the last nine games, a span in which he's gone 11-for-32 (.344) with four homers and 10 RBI. He's up to a .223/.310/.457 slash line, 11 long balls, 28 RBI, 25 runs scored and two stolen bases through 51 contests. Gorman has been a near-everyday player lately, though the Cardinals called up Jose Fermin on Friday for infield depth, which could lead to Gorman sitting out against some southpaws moving forward.... Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers again Wednesday
Gorman went 2-for-5 with a solo homer, an RBI double and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over Cincinnati. Gorman extended the Cardinals' lead to 2-0 with an RBI double in the fourth inning before launching a home run off left-hander Brent Suter in the eighth, his 10th long ball of the year and second in as many games. After a sluggish start to the year, Gorman's started to turn things around, going 8-for-21 (.380) with seven RBI in his last six contests. He's boosted his slash line to .220/.308/.451 with 25 RBI, 23 runs scored and two stolen bases through 185 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Swipes bag in win
Gorman went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 7-6 win over the Cubs. Gorman's game is more power than speed, but he's done a little of both with three home runs and two steals over his last six contests. Those two thefts account for his season total. The second baseman is slashing .215/.308/.423 with eight homers, 21 RBI, 20 runs scored and seven doubles over 169 plate appearances on the year. He's not making a lot of contact; his 35.5 percent strikeout rate is an anchor on the rest of his stat line.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Sitting against left-hander
Gorman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Gorman clubbed a tie-breaking, two-run home run earlier Wednesday in the completion of Tuesday's suspended game, but he will take a seat versus left-hander John Means for the regularly scheduled contest. Brendan Donovan will replace Gorman at second base.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Sitting out Wednesday
Gorman is not in the lineup for Wednesday's series finale versus the Orioles, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. The lefty-hitting Gorman will take a seat for Wednesday's contest, as the Orioles are starting southpaw John Means. Gorman was excellent for the Cardinals in Tuesday's contest, which spilled into Wednesday after being suspended due to inclement weather. He went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run, an RBI double and a walk in the contest. The second baseman is now slashing .207/.303/.421 with eight homers, 21 RBI, 18 runs scored, seven doubles and a stolen base over 165 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Heads to bench Sunday
Gorman is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. Gorman has homered in back-to-back games, but the strikeouts are piling up. He's struck out 10 times in his last 16 at-bats, bringing his K-rate to 35 percent through 157 plate appearances this season. Brendan Donovan will start at second base Sunday as Alec Burleson takes over in left field and Matt Carpenter starts at DH.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers in back-to-back games
Gorman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an RBI single and two total runs scored in Saturday's 7-2 win over the Red Sox. Gorman has homered in each of the last two games, and he's gone deep three times with three multi-hit efforts over his last seven contests. The second baseman is up to a .201/.293/.396 slash line through 157 plate appearances after hitting as low as .172 and slugging as little as .319 on May 9. He's added seven homers, 18 RBI, 16 runs scored, six doubles and no stolen bases over 40 games while seeing a majority of the playing time at the keystone this year.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Swats homer in win
Gorman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 10-6 win over the Red Sox. Gorman's bat is coming around -- he's 6-for-19 (.316) with two homers and four RBI over his last six games. The second baseman took Boston starter Brayan Bello deep in the second inning of this contest. Gorman is up to a .193/.288/.370 slash line with six homers, 16 RBI, 14 runs scored, no stolen bases and six doubles through 153 plate appearances, and he's not helping his cause to remain in an everyday role with a 34.6 percent strikeout rate. While the threat isn't immediate, Gorman could be one of the players to see a reduced role once Tommy Edman (wrist) is able to return to action.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Day off Wednesday
Gorman isn't in the Cardinals' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Gorman will get a day to clear his head after striking out four times during Tuesday's win over the Halos. Brendan Donovan will fill in at the keystone Wednesday while Alec Burleson, Mike Siani and Lars Nootbaar start across the outfield.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers off bench Friday
Gorman hit a solo home run in his lone at-bat during Friday's 11-2 loss to the Brewers. Gorman entered the game as a defensive replacement after the Brewers turned it into a rout, and his ninth-inning blast ended the 24-year-old's 0-for-14 skid to begin the month of May. The second baseman is slashing a meager .179/.262/.350 with five homers, 13 RBI, nine runs scored, five doubles and no stolen bases over 130 plate appearances. Gorman began the year in a near-everyday role at the keystone, but he's now sat out against the last three southpaws the Cardinals have faced, with Jose Fermin picking up the playing time. Gorman had reverse splits last season and that has carried over into 2024, but he's simply not hitting well enough overall to justify a full-time role.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Hits bench against lefty
Gorman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets. The lefty-hitting Gorman will hit the bench for the third time in the four games while the Cardinals have faced a steady diet of left-handed pitching of late. The right-handed-hitting Jose Fermin will man the keystone while Gorman sits against Mets southpaw Jose Quintana.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Out against lefty
Gorman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets. The Cardinals are facing a left-handed starting pitcher (Sean Manaea) for the second day in a row, so the lefty-hitting Gorman will once again head to the bench. Jose Fermin will fill in for Gorman at second base.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Not in Monday's lineup
Gorman is absent from the lineup for Monday's game against the Diamondbacks. Gorman was demoted to the eighth spot in the Cardinals lineup for Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Brewers and now finds himself out of the starting nine altogether. Over his last four contests, Gorman has gone 0-for-17 with 10 strikeouts. Gorman could receive more frequent days off if his slump persists much longer.... See More ... See Less -
Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Not starting Tuesday
Gorman is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports. Gorman started the previous 11 games but will take a seat after he posted a .746 OPS during that stretch. Ivan Herrera will receive a turn as St. Louis' designated hitter Tuesday.... See More ...
