  • Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Fans seven for Jacksonville

Cabrera (shoulder) threw four scoreless, no-hit innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday, striking out seven and walking two.

The right-hander built up to 60 pitches (37 strikes) as he closes in on a return to the big-league rotation. The Marlins moved Cabrera to the 60-day IL over the weekend, which will prevent him from being activated until early July, but he should be ready to rejoin the team's staff as soon as he's eligible. Through five MLB starts this season, Cabrera has a 7.17 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 31:14 K:BB through 21.1 innings.

  • Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Marlins transferred Cabrera (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.

Cabrera landed on the IL on May 8 with a right shoulder impingement and looked to be on the cusp of a return after making a three-inning rehab start for Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday. However, given the Marlins' decision to move him to the 60-day IL -- which now leaves him ineligible for activation for another two weeks -- it's possible that Cabrera hit a snag in his rehab start, or the organization is deliberately aiming to slow down his return. According to Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com, Cabrera had been scheduled to make his second rehab start with Jacksonville on Tuesday and was expected to cover four innings or 60 pitches, but it's unclear if his move to the 60-day IL means that those plans have changed.

  • Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Another rehab start on tap

Cabrera (shoulder) allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk with four strikeouts across three innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday. He's scheduled to pitch again Tuesday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Although Cabrera took the loss Wednesday, he turned in a quality showing in his first rehab appearance. The 26-year-old is expected to throw four innings or roughly 60 pitches Tuesday as Cabrera gets stretched out and ready to rejoin the big-league rotation. It's unclear if he'll require another appearance with Jacksonville before being activated.

  • Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Starting rehab assignment Wednesday

Cabrera (shoulder) is scheduled to make a rehab start for Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The Marlins have signed off on Cabrera advancing the final phase of his rehab program from a right shoulder impingement after he came out of a live bullpen session Monday without issue. According to De Nicola, the Marlins are targeting Cabrera for three innings or 50 pitches Wednesday, so he'll likely require an additional rehab outing beyond that to get fully stretched out for a typical starter's workload.

  • Marlins' Edward Cabrera: Completes live bullpen session

Cabrera (shoulder) threw two innings and 35 pitches in a live bullpen session Friday, MLB.com reports.

The bullpen session was Cabrera's second of the week; he previously threw a 30-pitch up-and-down session Tuesday. Cabrera could take the next step forward this week by facing hitters in live batting practice before he heads out on a minor-league rehab assignment that will likely consist of one or two starts. He's been on the injured list since May 8 with a right shoulder impingement and isn't expected to rejoin the Miami rotation until late June or early July.
