Jones went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Friday against the Nationals. Jones was out of the starting nine for two games with an illness, but he returned to the lineup and hit sixth Friday. He tallied his second home run of the season and has seven hits across 18 at-bats with only three strikeouts since being activated from the injured list June 14.... See More ... See Less

Rockies' Nolan Jones: Back from illness
Jones (illness) will start in left field and bat sixth in Friday's game against the Nationals. Jones missed two contests because he was under the weather, but he'll give it a go Friday. The 26-year-old is 5-for-14 with a 2:8 K:BB over six games since returning from the injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Out again with illness
Jones (illness) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Dodgers, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. Jones will take a seat for the second day in a row while he recovers from an illness. Sean Bouchard will fill in for Jones in left field while batting second.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Scratched Wednesday
Jones was scratched from the Rockies' lineup before Wednesday's game against the Dodgers due to illness, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. Jones was reportedly feeling unwell ahead of Wednesday's contest, so he'll step out of the lineup and use the day to recover. Sean Bouchard will instead serve as Colorado's left fielder and bat sixth.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: First three-hit game of season
Jones went 3-for-4 with an RBI on Sunday against the Pirates. Jones started in his second straight game since returning from the injured list and has hit fifth and sixth in the order. He delivered his first three-hit effort and only sixth multi-knock performance of the campaign in 29 starts. That provides some hope that he's now fully healthy and prepared to improve upon his .196 average and .587 OPS.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Hits fifth in return
Jones went 0-for-2 with two walks Friday against the Pirates. Jones was activated from the injured list Friday after missing roughly six weeks due to back and knee injuries. He hit fifth in the order, which was a common spot in the lineup for him before he was sidelined. Jones will now seek to get his season on track, as he has just a .167/.252/.271 line with one home run and two stolen bases across 107 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Reinstated from IL
Jones (knee) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday. Jones landed on the injured list April 30 due to back stiffness. His initial rehab assignment was halted May 21 due to right knee soreness stemming from a slide, but he was able to resume activities June 3. Across his 12 rehab games with Triple-A Albuquerque, Jones went 9-for-42 with six runs, one home run and six RBI. He is starting in left field and batting fifth in Friday's game against the Pirates. To make room for Jones, Colorado placed Elias Diaz on the 10-day IL with a left calf strain, retroactive to June 11.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Nearing return
Jones (back) is expected to be recalled from his rehab assignment following Sunday's game with Triple-A Albuquerque, MLB.com reports. Jones has appeared in three games with Albuquerque, starting twice in left field and once at designated hitter. He's lined up for a fourth appearance Sunday and will rejoin the big-league club as it travels to Oakland. Assuming all goes according to plan, it appears that Jones will be activated for the first game of the series Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Kicks off rehab assignment
Jones (back) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout and an RBI. Jones received three plate appearances and played five innings in left field in his first game action since he landed on the 10-day injured list in late April with a low-back strain. He shouldn't need too many rehab games before being activated since he hasn't been sidelined for an extended period, but the Rockies haven't provided a firm target date for his return to the big club. The 26-year-old has slashed a disappointing .170/.243/.277 with one home run and two stolen bases over 103 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Nearing rehab stint
Jones (back) will join Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday but will not immediately begin a rehab assignment, MLB.com reports. Jones is traveling to Albuquerque with Kris Bryant (back), but he's behind his teammate in his recovery process. He'll continue to ramp up his activity prior to appearing in games, but the Rockies hope he'll be ready to return from the 10-day injured list by late May.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Ready to increase activity
Jones (back) did light throwing prior to Thursday's game against the Giants and will continue to ramp up his activity Friday or Saturday, MLB.com reports. Jones has been out since April 30 and did light throwing and running drills Saturday. If this weekend goes according to plan, he could head out on a rehab assignment in the coming days.... Rockies' Nolan Jones: Resumes drills
Jones (back) did throwing and running drills ahead of Saturday's game against the Pirates, MLB.com reports. Jones had been shut down for a few days since landing on the injured list Tuesday. Manager Bud Black acknowledged that Jones is progressing each day, and the current expectation is that he will be able to return by mid-May.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Likely headed to IL
The Rockies are expected to place Jones (back) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. Zahlmann notes that outfield prospect Jordan Beck is on track to receive a call-up from Triple-A Albuquerque, and given that he suffered a setback with his lingering back injury in Sunday's 8-2 loss to the Astros, Jones is an obvious candidate to come off the 26-man active roster in a corresponding move. Jones has been removed from games twice within the past week due to back stiffness, so it makes sense for the Rockies to get out in front of the issue and put him on the shelf for at least the next week and a half so he can rest up and recover. After a breakout 20-20 campaign with the Rockies in 2023, Jones has struggled mightily over the first month of the 2024 season, slashing just .170/.243/.277 while contributing one home run and two stolen bases over 103 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Still battling back injury
Jones (back) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Padres. Jones is on the bench for a second straight game while he tends to a stiff back. With Jones out of the lineup along with Charlie Blackmon and Sean Bouchard, the Rockies will have Jake Cave and Hunter Goodman start in the corner outfield spots.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Held out with back injury
Jones (back) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Padres. Jones was removed from Tuesday's 7-4 win with back stiffness. The injury seems to be a day-to-day concern, but with a day game on tap for Thursday's series finale ahead of an off day Friday, Jones might not be back in action until Saturday against the Astros. Jake Cave will make a start in left field Wednesday in Jones' stead.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Steals first bag of 2024
Jones went 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, three runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 10-7 win over the Rays. Last year's breakout star for the Rockies had a bit of a bumpy beginning to 2024, striking out 12 times in his first seven games while batting .103 (3-for-29), but Jones roared to life in the team's home opener. The steal was his first of the campaign after he swiped 20 in 106 games last season.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Dropped to fifth amidst slump
Jones will start in left field and bat fifth in Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. It's been an ugly start to the season for Jones, who has gone just 2-for-24 at the plate with a 1:11 BB:K in his first six contests. He'll flip spots in the lineup Wednesday with Ryan McMahon, who has been elevated to the No. 3 position in the order. Jones' move down the lineup may only be a short-term demotion, as he could move back up once his bat begins to warm up.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Exits with trainer
Jones was removed from Saturday's Cactus League game against the Reds with an apparent knee injury, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports. Jones appeared to have fouled a ball off his right knee and wasn't able to put any weight on it immediately afterward. A trainer eventually helped him off the field and into the clubhouse, where the medical staff will take a closer look at him. The Rockies will likely offer more information in the near future, at which point an idea may emerge regarding how much time -- if any -- Jones will miss. The 25-year-old outfielder entered Saturday's game slashing .267/.340/.422 with four RBI across 50 plate appearances this spring.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Returns to action Saturday
Jones (back) is starting in left field for the Rockies' spring training game against the Cubs on Saturday, Patrick Lyons of Just Baseball reports. Jones missed Colorado's last two exhibition games after being removed from Wednesday's contest due to lower-back tightness, but the issue seems to have subsided ahead of Saturday's game. Jones is 5-for-19 so far this spring with an RBI and four runs scored alongside six strikeouts.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Nolan Jones: Not in Thursday's lineup
Jones (back) is not in the Rockies' lineup for Thursday's Cactus League game versus the Royals, Manny Randhawa of MLB.com reports. He's not listed among the team's reserves, either. Jones had expressed optimism that he'd be able to play Thursday after departing Wednesday's game with lower-back tightness, but it's not a surprise the Rockies opted to hold him out at least a day. He should still be considered day-to-day for the time being.... See More ... See Less
