Laureano will pick up his fifth consecutive start Monday, with three coming against left-handed pitching and two coming versus righties. The 29-year-old has gone 7-for-23 with four extra-base hits in eight games since getting called up from Triple-A Gwinnett, and he looks like he'll hold down an everyday role in the corner outfield so long as he continues to swing a hot bat. Atlanta is prioritizing Laureano over Adam Duvall, who will take a seat for a second straight matchup with a right-hander (Lance Lynn) after batting just .129 through his first 19 games of June.

Making his fourth start since joining the Atlanta roster, Laureano played a key role in an offensive explosion that saw the NL East squad rack up eight extra-base hits on the night. The 29-year-old has gone 6-for-17 (.353) in his new uniform with a homer in addition to Friday's barrage of two-baggers, but a 0:5 BB:K suggests the contact issues that have plagued his big-league career haven't gone away.

Though he started in right field for both of the last two games after he was called up from Triple-A Gwinnett following Michael Harris' (hamstring) placement on the 10-day injured list, the right-handed-hitting Laureano could be headed for the short side of a platoon. Atlanta called up Forrest Wall from Triple-A earlier Monday, and he'll get the nod at the corner-outfield spot opposite Adam Duvall while Detroit brings righty Reese Olson to the hill.

Atlanta will deploy Adam Duvall, Jarred Kelenic and Laureano as its starting outfield Saturday, and it could be the regular setup for a while with Michael Harris (hamstring) joining Ronald Acuna (knee) on the injured list. Laureano had a lowly .494 OPS in 31 games with the Guardians earlier this season before getting released. He seemed to find his footing at Triple-A Gwinnett with a 1.028 OPS and three homers in 14 contests prior to being called up Saturday.

Laureano will join Atlanta's major-league roster after fellow outfielder Michael Harris (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday. Laureano has posted a .362 average with three home runs, 12 RBI and 13 runs scored over 58 at-bats in 14 contests with Gwinnett. In order to make room on the 40-man roster for the outfielder, Spencer Strider (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.
