Albies went 2-for-5 with a walk, a double, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Friday's win over the Yankees. The second baseman had a sluggish start to the season, but he appears to be heating up along with the weather. Over the last nine games, Albies is batting .308 (12-for-39) with four doubles, a triple, two homers, seven RBI and 10 runs scored while hitting second in the order behind Jarred Kelenic.... Braves' Ozzie Albies: Swats fifth homer
Albies went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's win over the Tigers. The second baseman belted the game-winning homer in the eighth inning off Shelby Miller in a 2-1 victory, giving Atlanta its only lead of the night. The long ball was only the fifth of the year for Albies, and the 27-year-old has had trouble finding any rhythm at the plate in June, slashing .206/.227/.397 over 15 games this month.... See More ... Braves' Ozzie Albies: Collects season-high four hits
Albies went 4-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored Thursday against the Orioles. Albies' first-inning double set the stage for Atlanta to take an early lead, and his double in the ninth eventually led to a couple of insurance runs as a tight one-run lead turned into a three-run victory. Albies collected multiple hits for the 17th time this season, though it's just the second time he's had three or more in a game. His four-hit effort came on the heels of a seven-game stretch in which he had collected just four hits total, batting .143 over 28 at-bats during that span.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Ends power drought
Albies went 2-for-3 with a double, a three-run home run and an additional run during Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Red Sox. Albies went yard for the first time in 23 games, plating Austin Riley and Marcell Ozuna in the sixth inning on a three-run shot off Kutter Crawford. He's been swinging a hot bat as of late, batting .324 with five doubles, six RBI and five runs scored in his last 10 games. After slugging a career-high 33 homers last season, Albies has just four round trippers in 50 games in 2024, and his slugging percentage has dropped from .513 to .410.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Swipes fourth bag
Albies went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to the Nationals. Atlanta's offense remains in a funk, managing only five hits and one run Thursday, but Albies has been one of the few consistent bright spots in the lineup of late. The second baseman's hit safely in six straight games, and since May 13 he's slashing .313/.375/.391. Albies still isn't providing much power -- he hasn't homered in 19 straight games and has only three long balls on the year -- but he has contributed four steals, 25 runs and 25 RBI through 46 contests.... Braves' Ozzie Albies: Records third steal
Albies went 1-for-3 with a walk, one RBI and a stolen base in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Cubs. Albies is hitting well, going 11-for-40 (.275) over his last 10 games, though he has just one extra-base hit, a double, in that span. The second baseman is slashing .269/.330/.388 with three home runs, three steals, 23 RBI, 22 runs scored and 10 doubles over 39 contests on the year. He's locked into a starting role, but the lack of counting stats is a small concern for a player that has hit 20-plus homers four times in the last six years.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Two hits in return
Albies went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI in Friday's 6-2 win over the Guardians. Making his return from a toe injury that cost him eight games, Albies demonstrated quickly that he was fully healthy, ripping a double and scoring in the fifth inning before adding an RBI single in the sixth. The 27-year-old second baseman has a nine-game hitting streak going, sandwiched around the injury absence, and on the season he's slashing .328/.392/.507 with two homers, two steals, 15 runs and 15 RBI.... Braves' Ozzie Albies: Activated from injured list
Atlanta activated Albies (toe) from the 10-day injured list Friday. Albies missed just the minimum 10 days with a fractured right big toe and will not require a rehab assignment before rejoining his teammates for a weekend series against the Guardians. The 27-year-old has put together a .317/.386/.492 slash line with two home runs and two stolen bases through his first 15 contests this season.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Run bases Wednesday
Albies (toe) took part in baserunning as part of a workout prior to Atlanta's game against the Marlins on Wednesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Albies continues to trend in a positive direction in his recovery from a fractured right big toe, which he sustained April 16. The second baseman had already participated in fielding drills and resumed swinging a bat in recent days, and being able to run the bases is another sign that he's no longer inhibited by the injury. Albies is first eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list Friday, and he appears on track to play this weekend versus the Guardians if he avoids any setbacks coming out of Wednesday's workout.... Braves' Ozzie Albies: Could return as soon as Friday
Albies (toe) has begun swinging a bat and could return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Friday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. If he's not quite ready to go Friday, his return would likely come soon after. Albies suffered a fractured right great toe when he was hit by a pitch a week ago, but he actually stayed in to finish that game and has made a rapid recovery. Luis Guillorme and David Fletcher have been handling second base for Atlanta in Albies' absence.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Multi-week absence expected
Atlanta manager Brian Snitker indicated Tuesday that Albies (toe) won't require surgery but could be sidelined 2-to-3 weeks, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. Snitker didn't offer an official return timetable for the All-Star second baseman's return from a fractured great toe, but it doesn't appear as though Albies is looking at an extended absence. According to David O'Brien of The Athletic, Albies was in a great deal of pain after he suffered the injury Monday and is now sporting a protective walking boot.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Out with fractured toe
Atlanta placed Albies on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a fractured right great toe. Albies suffered the injury when he was hit by a pitch Monday against the Astros, though he never exited the contest. The 27-year-old will now be sidelined for at least the next 10 days, but the absence could be longer depending how the toe heals. Luis Guillorme and David Fletcher, who was added to the major-league roster Tuesday, are likely to see time at second base while Albies is out.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Could sit out with sore toe
Albies might be held out of Tuesday's lineup after being hit on the toe by a pitch Monday in Houston, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. Albies finished Monday's game but was limping noticeably after the contest and had his foot examined. While he looks to have avoided a serious injury, Albies' status for Tuesday will be determined when he gets to the ballpark and is checked out. If Albies is not able to go Tuesday, Luis Guillorme would likely fill in at second base.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Drives in three Monday
Albies went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored and three RBI in Monday's loss to the Mets. He brought home the first two runs of the game in the third inning with a double before drawing a bases-loaded walk in the eighth. It's already the third three-RBI performance of the season for Albies, who's batting .289 (11-for-38) through nine games with two homers, one steal, nine runs and 10 RBI.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Hits second homer, drives in three
Albies went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's loss to the Phillies. Albies opened the game's scoring with a two-run home run off Ranger Suarez in the first inning. He later added a third RBI to his performance when he singled home Jarred Kelenic in the eighth. Albies should continue providing plenty of power at the keystone after smashing 33 home runs last year and now going deep in two straight.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Leads charge in Saturday's win
Albies went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored, three RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 12-4 win over the Phillies. The 27-year-old second baseman got the barrage started for Atlanta by socking a two-run homer off Aaron Nola in the first inning for his first long ball of the season. Albies has seen his steals totals dwindle over the last couple years, as he's gone 16-for-22 on the basepaths in 212 games while registering a sprint speed in the 55th percentile in both 2022 and 2023, but even if he never becomes a reliable stolen base threat again, his power and prime placement in one of the league's most potent offenses keep his fantasy floor high.... Braves' Ozzie Albies: Pops first spring homer
Albies went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Twins. The second baseman took Chris Paddack deep in the first inning for his first long ball of the spring. Albies has gone 4-for-22 so far in Grapefruit League action with a 2:6 BB:K, but there are no concerns with the 27-year-old as he looks to follow up a big 2023 campaign that saw him set new careers highs with 33 homers and 109 RBI.... Braves' Ozzie Albies: Three hits, homer in win
Albies went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 6-5 victory over the Cubs. Albies got Atlanta on the board with a solo home run in the first inning off Jameson Taillon, his 33rd of the year. The 26-year-old second baseman has been on a tear, hitting safely in 13 of his last 14 games, going 24-for-59 (.407) with four home runs in that span. Overall, Albies is batting .278 with an .845 OPS, 107 RBI, 92 runs scored and 13 stolen bases across 640 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Homers among four hits
Albies went 4-for-6 with a double, home run, four RBI, two runs scored and one steal in Thursday's win over the Nationals. Albies opened the scoring Thursday night for Atlanta with a first-inning RBI double and closed it out with a two-run homer in the ninth. This was the 26-year-old's third four-hit game of the year (first since June 4). Albies has produced a splendid year while bouncing back from last year's injury-riddled 64-game season. He has slashed .274/.328/.509 with 32 homers, 13 steals, 103 RBI and 89 runs over 139 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ozzie Albies: Omitted from Game 2 lineup
Albies is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader with the Phillies. Albies does not sit much, but with him just a couple weeks removed from a stint on the injured list, he will get a breather Monday night. Nicky Lopez will cover the keystone in place of Albies....
