  • Devils' Nick DeSimone: Inks one-year deal

DeSimone signed a one-year, one-way contract worth $775,000 with New Jersey on Monday.

DeSimone registered two goals, seven points, 28 shots on net, 42 blocked shots and 29 hits in 34 games between the Devils and Flames in 2023-24. He will compete for a depth spot on New Jersey's blue line during training camp in the fall.

  • Ian Mitchell D | BOS

Bruins' Ian Mitchell: Signs one-year contract

Mitchell signed a one-year, two-way contract with Boston on Sunday, per Conor Ryan of The Boston Globe.

Mitchell earned two assists, 11 shots on goal and 13 blocked shots in 13 regular-season outings with Boston in 2023-24. He also had six goals and 24 points in 42 regular-season appearances for AHL Providence during the 2023-24 campaign. It wouldn't be a surprise if he spent most, if not all, of next season in the minors.

  • Panthers' Dmitry Kulikov: Nabs helper in loss

Kulikov posted an assist, two shots on goal and four hits in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Oilers in Game 6.

The helper was Kulikov's first point since April 4, ending a 27-game dry spell that had covered all of the Panthers' postseason run. While his offense has been absent, the 33-year-old blueliner has racked up 55 hits, 25 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over 23 playoff appearances. He's been a fixture in a third-pairing role, though that's not one that comes with much ice time given the talented defensemen on the Panthers' roster.

  • Oilers' Philip Broberg: Adds helper Friday

Broberg registered an assist, three blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Friday's 5-1 win over the Panthers in Game 6.

Broberg has three points over nine appearances since he became a regular in the Oilers' lineup. More impressively, he's added a plus-8 rating and hasn't taken a minus in any of those contests. The defenseman has added 17 blocked shots and six shots on net while seeing bottom-four minutes and minimal power-play time.

  • Brett Kulak D | EDM

Oilers' Brett Kulak: Pockets helper Friday

Kulak recorded an assist and two blocked shots in Friday's 5-1 win over the Panthers in Game 6.

Kulak has a helper in three of the last four games. The defenseman has been a surprising source of depth offense with eight points through 24 playoff contests after he logged just 16 points in 82 regular-season outings. He's added 45 blocks, 22 hits, 14 PIM, 21 shots on net and a minus-1 rating this postseason while skating on the third pairing.

  • Oilers' Mattias Ekholm: Provides helper in win

Ekholm notched an assist, two hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 5-1 win over the Panthers in Game 6.

Ekholm has earned three points over six contests in the Stanley Cup Finals. The 34-year-old defenseman is up to 10 points, 41 shots on net, 28 hits, 44 blocks and a plus-9 rating through 24 outings this postseason. He remains a stalwart on the first pairing, though his commitment to defense has led to limited offense.

  • Oilers' Darnell Nurse: Deposits empty-netter

Nurse scored an empty-net goal, added three hits, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Friday's 5-1 win over the Panthers in Game 6.

Nurse has two goals this postseason, and he's scored both of them over the last three games. The defenseman is up to six points, 42 shots on net, 48 hits, 62 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating through 24 playoff contests. He'll likely remain in a second-pairing role for Monday's Game 7.

  • Ty Smith D | PIT

Hurricanes' Ty Smith: Agrees to one-year contract

Smith signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Hurricanes on Friday.

Smith was acquired by Carolina from Pittsburgh on March 7 as part of the trade that sent Jake Guentzel to the Hurricanes. The 24-year-old Smith was set to become a restricted free agent in July after completing a one-year deal. He had nine goals and 43 points in 63 regular-season contests with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2023-24. Smith didn't make an appearance at the top level last season, but he does have eight goals and 47 points in 123 career NHL games.

  • Stars' Chris Tanev: Dealing with tendon injury

Tanev (ankle) is recovering from a tendon injury, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports Friday.

Tanev had two goals, 19 points, 24 PIM, 45 hits and 207 blocks in 75 regular-season outings between Calgary and Dallas in 2023-24. He also recorded two assists, 30 hits and 73 blocks across 19 playoff contests with the Stars. He played in two contests after suffering the injury in Game 4 versus Edmonton, so he should be fine for the start of the 2024-25 campaign. The 34-year-old is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent in July.

  • Stars' Jani Hakanpaa: Recovering from knee injury

Hakanpaa's lower-body injury is a knee issue that required an arthroscopic procedure, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports Friday.

Hakanpaa didn't play past March 16 because of the injury. He had two goals, 12 points, 33 PIM, 196 hits and 123 blocks in 64 regular-season outings in 2023-24. Although there isn't a specific timetable for Hakanpaa's recovery, he's not expected to need further knee procedures.
