Hurricanes' Justin Poirier: Headed to college
Poirier has committed to the University of Maine ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports Monday.
Poirier racked up 80 points in 58 regular-season games with QMJHL Baie-Comeau, his second straight year reaching the 80-point threshold. Selected by the Hurricanes in the fifth round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, the 18-year-old winger may not play a full four years in college but doesn't appear to be an imminent arrival on the NHL roster.

Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Rehabbing shoulder in offseason
Jarvis played with a shoulder injury during most of the season, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports Friday.
Jarvis rehabbed his shoulder last offseason and will do the same this summer, but he will not require surgery. Jarvis had 32 goals and 35 assists over 73 regular-season games. He was outstanding during the playoffs with six goals and 10 assists in 15 games, tied for eighth in NHL scoring.

Hurricanes' Sean Walker: Battling shoulder injury
Walker did not play in the final three postseason games due to a shoulder injury, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports Friday.
Walker had been dealing with a shoulder injury for the entire postseason, but a hit he took during Game 2 against the Capitals in the second round made it worse and forced him out of the lineup. The injury won't require surgery, and he should be ready for training camp in the fall. The 30-year-old scored a goal and added two assists in 12 postseason games.

Hurricanes' Jalen Chatfield: Has hip injury
Chatfield missed the final six games of the playoffs with a hip injury, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reported Friday.
Chatfield said that the injury affected his speed. The 29-year-old defenseman had seven goals, 11 assists, 64 hits and 64 blocked shots across 79 regular-season games. He is expected to be fully healthy for the start of training camp in September.

Hurricanes' Shayne Gostisbehere: Adds helper Wednesday
Gostisbehere notched an assist in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Panthers in Game 5.
Gostisbehere was limited to two helpers in the Eastern Conference Finals, making for a quiet end to his postseason run. The 32-year-old had a total of nine points with a minus-9 rating, 24 shots on net, 16 blocked shots and 12 hits over 15 playoff contests. Gostisbehere remains under contract for 2025-26, so he should return to the Hurricanes in a role that brought him success with 45 points, including 27 on the power play, over 70 regular-season contests.

Hurricanes' Andrei Svechnikov: Registers helper
Svechnikov posted an assist, two shots on goal, four hits and two PIM in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Panthers in Game 5.
Svechnikov had three helpers over five games in the Eastern Conference Finals. The 25-year-old produced a total of eight goals, four assists, 40 shots on net, 63 hits, 22 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 15 playoff outings. Svechnikov missed the 50-point mark for the first time in four years during the regular season, and he's also missed at least 10 games in three straight campaigns. He makes up for the relatively modest scoring totals by adding hits, shots and PIM in spades, but it's fair to question if Svechnikov can consistently find another level on offense over the rest of his career.

Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: One of each in Game 5 loss
Jarvis scored a goal on four shots, added an assist and logged four hits in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Panthers in Game 5.
Jarvis set up a Sebastian Aho goal in the first period and scored one of his own in the third, but it wasn't enough to save the Hurricanes' season. Despite the team's struggles in the Eastern Conference Finals, Jarvis was productive, earning two goals and four assists over five games versus the Panthers. The 23-year-old finished the postseason at 16 points, 36 shots on net, 51 hits and a plus-2 rating over 15 appearances. He's under contract for seven more years, and after a second straight 67-point regular season, Jarvis could elevate his offense over the 70-point mark in 2025-26.

Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Scores twice in season-ending loss
Aho scored two goals on three shots and added two hits in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Panthers in Game 5.
Aho cashed in twice off of turnovers in the first period, giving the Hurricanes some belief they could keep their season going. The Panthers then squashed that hope over the final 40 minutes. Aho put up seven goals, 15 points, 41 shots on net, 45 hits and a plus-3 rating over 15 playoff outings. He's signed through 2031-32, so look for the 27-year-old to once again center the Hurricanes' top line next season.

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Bows out of playoffs
Andersen stopped 17 of 21 shots in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Panthers in Game 5. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.
Andersen couldn't replicate his Game 4 shutout, allowing three goals in a span of 4:36 during the second period after the Hurricanes tallied twice in the first. The 35-year-old netminder went 8-5 with a 2.02 GAA and a .906 save percentage over 13 playoff outings. He signed a one-year contract extension in early May, so he'll be part of the Hurricanes' plans between the pipes again in 2025-26.

Andersen will protect the home goal in Wednesday's Game 5 versus the Panthers, David Dwork of The Hockey News reports.
