  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Won't play against Bengals

Ford (hamstring) won't play Sunday against the Bengals, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Ford, who didn't practice this week, will thus target a potential return to action in Week 8 against the Ravens. In his absence Sunday, some combo Nick Chubb (knee, questionable) -- who's expected to be activated from the PUP list this weekend -- D'Onta Foreman, and Pierre Strong are in line to handle Cleveland's backfield duties versus Cincinnati.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Still not practicing

Ford (hamstring) remained sidelined at Friday's practice, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Ford has yet to practice this week, clouding his status for Sunday's game against the Bengals. If he ends up ruled out for the contest, the Browns' Week 7 backfield could be comprised of Nick Chubb (knee) -- who's expected to come off the reserve/PUP list this weekend -- D'Onta Foreman (groin, limited Wednesday and Thursday) and Pierre Strong.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Remains sidelined Thursday

Ford (hamstring) is not present at the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Ford has been deemed week-to-week since being forced out of Cleveland's loss to the Eagles in Week 6 due to a hamstring injury, and he hasn't practiced in any capacity since. With Ford trending in the wrong direction for Sunday's game against the Bengals, the Browns have expressed optimism that Nick Chubb (knee) will be able to come off the PUP list and make his season debut. Both D'Onta Foreman (groin) and Pierre Strong also remain available to contribute out of the backfield.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Deemed week-to-week by coach

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Ford (hamstring) is considered week-to-week, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Ford was injured in Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Eagles. He's unlikely to play Week 7 against the Bengals, though more information on that front will surface when the Browns resume practicing Wednesday. Cleveland is well-positioned to weather a potential absence from Ford, as Nick Chubb (knee) is on track to come off the PUP list and make his season debut Sunday. Additionally, the Browns have D'Onta Foreman and Pierre Strong in the backfield.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: RBs to Sit

Ford scored at least 15.5 PPR points in two games this season, but he also scored 10 PPR points or less in three outings, including Week 5 at Washington. Even though Nick Chubb (knee) remains out for Week 6, I'm still hesitant to trust Ford. This isn't an easy matchup against the Eagles, who have allowed only one touchdown to a running back this year. I like Ford as a flex option as best in the majority of leagues in Week 6.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: RBs to Start

Ford's time is running out as the starting running back for the Browns, with Nick Chubb (knee) close to making his 2024 debut. Ford will remain the lead running back in Week 5, and he has a great matchup against the Commanders, who are No. 11 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs. Washington has allowed one running back each week to score at least 16.5 PPR points, and I'm hopeful Ford can keep that streak alive. It helps that Ford has also scored at least 15.5 PPR points in two of four games this year.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Set to play in Week 4

Ford (knee) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game in Las Vegas, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Ford followed up Wednesday's DNP and Thursday's limited session with a full practice to wrap up Week 4 prep, thus paving the way for him to continue leading the Browns backfield. Through three games on the campaign, he's tallied 39 touches for 203 yards from scrimmage and one TD, while No. 2 RB D'Onta Foreman has a 17-56-0 line, respectively. Ford thus is the Browns' unquestioned top runner for as long as Nick Chubb (knee) remains on the reserve/PUP list, and the former will be taking on a Raiders defense Sunday that has given up a league-worst 5.6 YPC to opposing running backs this season.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Sleeper RBs

Ford is expected to play despite dealing with a knee injury in practice this week, and he has a great matchup against Las Vegas. The Raiders are No. 2 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, and Ford will hopefully perform like he did in Week 1 against Dallas when he scored 18.9 PPR points. Since then, he's combined for 17.4 PPR points against Jacksonville and the Giants, but this is a good matchup to get him back on track. Four running backs have scored at least 11 PPR points against Las Vegas this season, and the Raiders have allowed four total touchdowns to running backs in three games. Ford is worth using as a low-end starter or flex in all leagues.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Limited in return to practice

Ford (knee) was a limited practice participant Thursday. After logging no reps in Wednesday's session, Ford took a step forward in his recovery from the knee issue by increasing his practice activity. He'll likely still need to upgrade to full participation Friday to avoid taking a designation into Sunday's game in Las Vegas, but at this stage of the week, Ford appears to be trending toward suiting up.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Sits out practice with knee injury

Ford (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Ford is managing a knee injury to begin the week, but he still has two additional opportunities to practice Thursday and Friday before the Browns potentially give him a designation for Sunday's game against the Raiders. Pierre Strong (hamstring) also didn't practice Wednesday, while Nick Chubb (knee) is ineligible to come off the PUP list until Week 5 at the earliest. D'Onta Foreman and Gary Brightwell as the team's only healthy running backs at the moment.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Managing knee injury

Ford isn't expected to practice Wednesday due to a knee injury, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Ford played 53 of the Browns' 67 snaps on offense in this past Sunday's loss to the Giants, finishing with 10 carries for 37 yards and three catches for 33 yards in the contest. The Browns haven't revealed whether Ford's knee issue is anything that will affect his status for Week 4, but if he's unable to play Sunday against the Raiders, D'Onta Foreman would likely serve as Cleveland's lead option on the ground.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Posts 70 scrimmage yards Week 3

Ford rushed 10 times for 37 yards and caught three of four targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 21-15 loss to the Giants. Ford had four first-half carries for four yards while no teammate recorded more than one first-half rushing attempt as the Browns took a 21-7 deficit into the locker room. He finished the game with 10 carries compared to only two for D'Onta Foreman, and Ford posted the second-highest receiving yardage total on the team thanks to a 24-yard catch in the second half. Ford has posted between 64 and 70 scrimmage yards in each of Cleveland's first three games, and he should continue to lead the team's backfield in Week 4 against the Raiders since Nick Chubb (knee) is ineligible to come off the PUP list until Week 5 at the earliest.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Sleeper RBs

Ford was out-touched by D'Onta Foreman 15-8 in Week 2 at Jacksonville, but Ford still ran well with seven carries for 64 yards. I'm going back to Ford this week as a low-end No. 2 running back, given the matchup with the Giants. They have allowed at least 14.6 PPR points to a running back in each of the first two games against Aaron Jones and Brian Robinson Jr., and Ford will hopefully get back to leading the Browns in touches in Week 3. You can also consider Foreman a sleeper as well, especially if he has the chance for double digits in carries in this game at home.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Has favorable Week 3 matchup

Ford has a favorable Week 3 matchup against the Giants, who rank 28th in rushing yards allowed, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. The Browns have had a couple of disjointed offensive efforts to open the season, but the winless Giants present an opportunity to fix the issues. Ford, who had just 19 carries in the first two weeks, could get that many touches this week. The Browns consider the ground game central to their plans but rank just 21st in rushing yards (109.0 YPG) after two games.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Totals 18 touches

Ford rushed the ball 12 times for 44 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 33-17 loss to the Cowboys. He added six receptions on seven targets for 25 yards. Ford unsurprisingly served as Cleveland's lead back but saw his volume on the ground limited by the game script. He made up for that with a garbage-time touchdown with 29 seconds remaining and also had strong involvement as a pass catcher. While Deshaun Watson made things difficult for the majority of the Browns' skill-position players, Ford was a beneficiary as a regular dump-off option. So long as Nick Chubb (knee) is sidelined, Ford should be capable of putting together similar results moving forward.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Limited work Saturday

Ford carried the ball twice for four yards in Saturday's 23-10 preseason loss to the Packers. The 24-year-old running back got the start for Cleveland's preseason opener but played only one series before Pierre Strong took over. Ford is expected to begin the regular season as the No. 1 option in the backfield, and even once Nick Chubb (knee) is cleared to return to action, the 2022 fifth-round pick should still have a significant role while Chubb ramps up his workload.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Rejoins practice

Ford (personal) returned to practice Monday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Ford missed practice from Thursday through the weekend to attend to an unspecified personal matter. He remains the favorite to lead Cleveland's backfield if Nick Chubb (knee) isn't ready by Week 1, but it could be a committee situation with D'Onta Foreman, Pierre Strong and/or Nyheim Hines (knee) also having roles.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Limited to 26 total yards

Ford rushed the ball nine times for 17 yards in Saturday's 45-14 loss to the Texans. He added four receptions on four targets for 15 yards. Ford fell slightly behind Kareem Hunt in total workload out of the backfield and lost out on touches near the goal line and as a receiver. Even when he did have the ball in his hands, he was held in check by the Texans' defense to turn in a disappointing final game of the campaign. Overall, Ford had the chance to serve as Cleveland's lead back for much of the season due to Nick Chubb (knee) being sidelined and managed an impressive nine total touchdowns with 1,132 yards from scrimmage in the regular season. Chubb's status from a health and contract perspective is ambiguous at this point, so Ford may maintain a significant role in Cleveland's offense in 2024.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: Full practice participant

Ford (wrist) was a full practice participant Thursday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Ford returned to a Week 14 contest after suffering the wrist injury and then played through it last week in a 20-17 win over the Bears. The bigger problems for his fantasy value are Cleveland's terrible injury luck on the offensive line and the reality that Kareem Hunt and Pierre Strong are combining for 35-to-50 percent of the backfield work most weeks. It'll likely be the same story this Sunday at Houston.

  • Browns' Jerome Ford: RBs to Sit

Ford scored at least 11.9 PPR points in six games in a row prior to Week 15 against Chicago when he was held to eight carries for 20 yards and four catches for 11 yards on five targets. It was a bad matchup against the Bears, and this is another tough matchup against the Texans. Houston hasn't allowed a running back to score on the ground in five games in a row, and only Breece Hall caught a touchdown against the Texans in Week 14. They just dominated Derrick Henry, holding him to 16 carries for 9 yards and four catches for 1 yard on four targets. Ford also continues to split playing time with Kareem Hunt, and I would only use Ford as a flex option in most leagues in Week 16.
