Onwenu has been limited at OTAs this spring due to a hand injury, NFL.com reports. It doesn't sound serious. Onwenu opened the 2024 season at right tackle but was kicked back inside to right guard in Week 5. After New England signed veteran RT Morgan Moses in free agency and then drafted LT Will Campbell with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Onwenu figures to stick at guard this coming season.... Patriots' Mike Onwenu: Staying at tackle
Onwenu is slated to be the Patriots' starting right tackle in 2024, Mark Daniels of The Providence Journal reports. Owenwu has bounced around New England's offensive line playing guard and tackle for the last two seasons, but that is no longer the plan for the 26-year-old. The 2020 sixth-rounder recently signed a three-year, $57 million contract extension with the team, whose new coaching staff views the Michigan product as exclusively a tackle.... See More ... Patriots' Mike Onwenu: Getting new deal in New England
The Patriots plan to sign Onwenu to a three-year, $57 million contract, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Over four years with New England, Onwenu has missed just two games, so the Patriots expect to retain stability on their offensive line for the future. They're also hoping to improve a rushing offense that ranked 26th in the league in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Mike Onwenu: Good to go Sunday
Onwenu (ankle) is active ahead of Sunday's game against Buffalo. New England's starting right guard is in line to play Sunday after suffering an ankle injury during the team's Week 6 loss to the Raiders and logging limited practice sessions all week. Onwenu continues to be an iron man for the Patriots, as he's only missed one game throughout his four-year NFL career.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Mike Onwenu: Exits with ankle injury
Onwenu left Sunday's game versus New Orleans with an ankle injury and is questionable to return. Onwenu exited early in the second half and had his ankle area looked at by trainers in the bench area. He was replaced by Riley Reiff at right guard.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Mike Onwenu: Knocks some rust off
Onwenu played 46 of a total possible 74 snaps in Sunday's 24-17 loss versus Miami, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reports. Onwenu opened New England's training camp on the PUP list and subsequently had to sit out Week 1, but he said it felt good to play again in Week 2 and now figures to work his way back to a full-time role in the coming weeks. He'll most likely start at right guard in Week 3 at the Jets.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Mike Onwenu: Ready to go for Week 2
Onwenu (ankle) will start Sunday night versus the Dolphins, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Onwenu missed the team's Week 1 loss to the Eagles with an ankle injury, but he'll make his return in Week 2. The 25-year-old will be back in his starting role at right guard.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Mike Onwenu: Questionable Sunday
Onwenu (ankle) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's game against the Dolphins. The 25-year-old is still recovering from offseason ankle surgery, as he missed the Patriots' Week 1 defeat against Philadelphia. New England's backup right guard, Sidy Sow (conscussion), who started during last week's contest, is also listed as questionable going into Sunday. Onwenu was a limited participant all week during practice, and if he can't go this Sunday, either Sow or Jake Andrews will likely start for the Patriots.... See More ... See Less
