The Patriots announced Wednesday that Andrews (shoulder) will announce his retirement from the NFL on Jun. 1, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. Andrews was dropped by New England with a failed physical designation in early March, and it appears the veteran center has decided to call it a career. He played all nine years of his career for the Patriots, winning two Super Bowls and starting 121 of the124 regular-season games he appeared in. With Andrews out in New England, Garrett Bradbury is expected to serve as the team's starting center in 2025.... See More ... See Less

David Andrews: Fails physical
Andrews (shoulder) was released by the Patriots on Thursday with a failed physical designation, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The 32-year-old played just four games in 2024 due to the injury and is in the process of rehabbing from surgery. The failed physical designation likely indicates the severity of the injury. Andrews spent 10 seasons in New England, won two Super Bowls and was named a captain in eight different campaigns, but he will now have to make a decision about his future.... See More ... See Less -
David Andrews: Time in New England ends
The Patriots announced Thursday that Andrews (shoulder) is being released. Andrews spent 10 seasons with New England, in which span he became a two-time Super Bowl champion and was named captain on eight occasions. The 32-year-old center is now rehabbing from right shoulder surgery, which limited him to four appearances in 2024. Now a free agent, it's possible that Andrews could opt to retire, depending both on his health and the interest he receives from other teams.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' David Andrews: Dealing with torn rotator cuff
Andrews (shoulder) said Tuesday that he sustained a torn right rotator cuff in the Patriots' Week 4 loss to the 49ers and will miss the remainder of the season, Mike Kadlick of CLNSMedia.com reports. Andrews turned 32 years old back in July and wants to continue his playing career next season, assuming he makes a full recovery from surgery. Nick Leverett replaced Andrews as the starting center in Week 5 and had a rough afternoon in the Patriots' loss to Miami, allowing 10 pressures, the most by a center in at least the last 18 seasons.... Patriots' David Andrews: Shifts to IR
The Patriots placed Andrews (shoulder) on injured reserve Friday. Head coach Jerod Mayo told reporters Wednesday that Andrews will undergo shoulder surgery and likely miss the remainder of the season, so this news comes as no surprise. By rule, the 32-year-old will be forced to miss the Patriots' next four contests, and Nick Leverett (ankle) is expected to serve as New England's top center until Andrews is able to return.... Patriots' David Andrews: Will remain out
Andrews (shoulder) will not return Sunday against the 49ers, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports. Andrews went out during the Patriots' opening possession and went straight to the locker room. Nick Leverett will continue to handle the work at center for New England for the remainder of Week 4.... Patriots' David Andrews: Playing Thursday
Andrews (hip) is active for Thursday's game against the Jets. Andrews was listed as questionable ahead of Thursday's contest due to a hip injury. The veteran center will suit up and fortify the Pats' offensive line against a Jets defensive front that has the top-ranked pressure rate (45.6 percent) through the first two games of the regular season, per Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site....
