  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Modest output as Stroud struggles

Diggs caught five of seven targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Packers. Diggs had just three receiving yards in the first half and was only marginally better in the second half as C.J. Stroud threw for only 86 yards in the game. The veteran wide receiver's modest contributions included a two-yard catch on third-and-1 to extend a fourth-quarter drive that culminated in Ka'imi Fairbairn's go-ahead 35-yard field goal with 1:44 remaining, but the Packers responded with a game-winning Brandon McManus field goal as time expired to drop the Texans to 5-2. Houston's passing game has a nice opportunity to bounce back at home in Week 8 against a leaky Colts defense that Diggs burned for two touchdowns back in Week 1.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Finds paydirt in Week 6 win

Diggs caught six of seven targets for 77 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-21 win over the Patriots. Diggs caught a 10-yard touchdown in the third quarter for his fourth overall score through six games with the Texans. His usage wasn't markedly different in the first of at least four games Nico Collins (hamstring) will spend on injured reserve, as Tank Dell (57 yards and a touchdown on nine targets) was the biggest beneficiary of Collins' absence. Diggs has at least six targets in every game this season, and he's likely to reach that threshold again in a Week 7 road game against the Packers.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Set for No. 1 role

Diggs is poised to lead Houston's receiving corps for at least the next four games after the Texans placed Nico Collins (hamstring) on injured reserve Wednesday. Diggs has been out-targeted 45-41 by Collins through five games, and Collins has been much more effective with his volume, posting a league-leading 567 receiving yards compared to Diggs' 315. While Diggs' focus on shorter routes will make it tough to replicate Collins' exceptional production, the veteran wide receiver's fantasy stock should nonetheless rise from this development. Diggs could be in for even more attention from star quarterback C.J. Stroud for the duration of Collins' absence, with Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson and Dalton Schultz also expected to help pick up the slack.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Six catches as Collins gets hurt

Diggs caught six of eight targets for 82 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Bills. Diggs finished with the team lead in targets and receiving yards, as Nico Collins exited due to a hamstring injury after turning two targets into 78 yards and a touchdown. While Diggs lacks Collins' downfield explosiveness at this stage of his career, the former Buffalo wide receiver's precise route running and strong hands have helped Diggs rack up 31 catches on 41 targets through five games with Houston, and Diggs could be in line for additional targets from C.J. Stroud in Week 6 against the Patriots if Collins is unavailable.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Gets into end zone in win

Diggs caught five of nine targets for 69 yards and took his only carry for a six-yard touchdown in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Jaguars. The veteran wideout scored his first career rushing TD in the first quarter, taking a designed run to the right before reversing field and darting into the end zone through traffic in the middle of the field. Diggs has been a distant second to Nico Collins so far in terms of target volume, but he's still been productive to begin his first season with Houston, scoring three total touchdowns in four games while adding a 25-233 receiving line on 33 targets. Diggs gets an opportunity at a revenge game Week 5 against the Bills, the team that traded him to the Texans in April.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: WRs to Start

Diggs is coming off a strong game in Minnesota in Week 3 with 10 catches for 94 yards on 12 targets, and he should benefit if Tank Dell (ribs) can't play this week. Diggs has scored at least 19.9 PPR points in two of three games this year, and he's showing plenty of signs of life with his new team. This week, he's facing a Jaguars defense that has allowed four receivers to score at least 12.3 PPR points, so Nico Collins and Diggs should be in line for a standout outing.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Big volume in loss to Vikes

Diggs caught 10 of 12 targets for 94 yards in Sunday's 34-7 loss to the Vikings. The veteran wideout didn't exactly put together a revenge game against the team that drafted him in 2015, but Diggs did lead the Texans in catches, targets and receiving yards on the day. The receptions and targets equaled his totals from the first two games of the season combined, an encouraging sign after Nico Collins dominated C.J. Stroud's attention early. Diggs will look to make a big impact again in Week 4 against the Jaguars.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Two TDs in Texans debut

Diggs caught all six of his targets for 33 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 29-27 win over the Colts. He added six rushing yards on one carry. While Nico Collins remained the top downfield option for C.J. Stroud, Diggs made an immediate impact as a red-zone threat in his debut for the Texans. The former Bill put his new team in the lead for good with a nine-yard score early in the second quarter, then hauled in Houston's final TD of the afternoon with a three-yard grab late in the fourth. Diggs scored at least eight touchdowns in all four of his seasons with Buffalo and has reached that mark six times in total during his career, and it looks like he'll have no trouble doing it again with the Texans in 2024. Diggs will make his home debut for Houston in Week 2 against the Bears.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: WRs to Start

Nico Collins is an obvious start this week, and he destroyed the Colts in 2023 with 16 catches, 341 yards and two touchdowns in two games. Tank Dell also beat up the Colts in his lone appearance against them with seven catches for 72 yards and a touchdown in Week 2. You can start all three Houston receivers in this matchup, and Diggs should have a solid debut in this AFC South rivalry. I expect the Texans to show off their new toy, and Diggs should be able to exploit the Indianapolis secondary on the perimeter.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: One grab against Giants

Diggs caught his only target for nine yards in Saturday's 28-10 preseason win over the Giants. He also gained two rushing yards on one carry. The Texans' first-team offense was only on the field for two possessions and came away with zero points, but Diggs was still able to build on his rapport with C.J. Stroud. Houston played both series in 12 personnel, with Diggs and Nico Collins being the two starting wideouts, and that appears as though it might be the team's base package during the regular season. Diggs is coming off a four-year run in Buffalo during which he caught more than 100 passes and topped 1,100 receiving yards in each season, but the 30-year-old will have a lot more competition for targets in Houston.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: No targets in Texans debut

Diggs wasn't targeted in Friday's 20-12 preseason win over the Steelers. Diggs made his Texans debut as Houston's top offensive starters mixed in for two drives after sitting out the Hall of Fame Game last week. Neither Diggs nor Nico Collins were targeted in this game, while QB C.J. Stroud linked up with Tank Dell for a 34-yard touchdown. All three of Diggs, Collins and Dell figure to play significant roles in Houston's receiving corps come the regular season, but they may continue to be eased in during Houston's next preseason game against the Giants on Aug. 17.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: In uniform Friday

Diggs, who missed practice Wednesday with an unspecified issue, is in uniform for Friday's preseason game against the Steelers, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports. Diggs was shook up in practice Tuesday, and his absence from Wednesday's session hinted at the wideout possibly being held out of Friday's contest. However, it looks like Diggs may see some snaps versus Pittsburgh after all, and if that's the case, he'll have an opportunity to catch passes from starting QB C.J. Stroud, who's expected to play a series or two, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Banged up a bit

Diggs missed Wednesday's practice with a minor injury after taking a hard hit Tuesday, Jonathan M. Alexander of The Houston Chronicle reports. Diggs thus seems unlikely to play in Friday's preseason game against Pittsburgh, giving other WRs an opportunity to take first-team snaps in what likely will be a brief appearance for QB C.J. Stroud and other starters. It sounds like Diggs should be healthy well before the regular season, keeping him on track to team up with Nico Collins and Tank Dell for a formidable Big 3 at wide receiver.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Eligible for free agency in 2025

Diggs agreed to a one-year, $22.52 million restructured contract with the Texans on Thursday, enabling the wideout to become a free agent after the 2024 season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Before he was traded to the Texans on Wednesday, Diggs had been on the Bills' books through the 2027 season after signing a four-year, $96 million contract extension in April 2022. Schefter notes that the Texans took $3.5 million that was guaranteed to Diggs in 2025 and shifted it to this coming season while enabling the wideout to hit free agency next offseason, when he'll be 31 years old. With the reported contract adjustment, Schefter notes that the Texans anticipate getting a highly motivated version of Diggs, given that he'll be in position to seek another long-term deal. In his new locale, Diggs is slated to headline a Houston pass-catching corps that also features fellow wideouts Nico Collins and Tank Dell, as well as tight end Dalton Schultz and running back Joe MIxon. While Diggs will have some legitimate competition for targets, he should nonetheless see steady weekly volume from ascending second-year quarterback C.J. Stroud.

  • Texans' Stefon Diggs: Dealt to Houston

The Texans acquired Diggs, a 2024 sixth-round pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick from the Bills on Wednesday in exchange for a 2025 second-round pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Diggs spent the last four years in Buffalo, where he averaged 111.3 catches for 1,343 yards and 9.3 touchdowns without ever missing a game. His production fell off a cliff in the second half of 2023, however, and there had been rumblings for a few years now about his hot-and-cold relationship with quarterback Josh Allen and other members of the Buffalo organization. Diggs will now be paired with another franchise quarterback, Houston's C.J. Stroud, but in an offense that offers stronger target competition following breakout 2023 performances from wideouts Nico Collins and Tank Dell.

  • Bills' Stefon Diggs: Unsure of what future holds

Diggs said Friday that he isn't sure if he'll be back with the Bills in 2024 but told Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network that, "I don't have any surprises for you right now." There was a lot of speculation last spring about Diggs' relationship with the Bills, and more specifically with QB Josh Allen. The wideout said he "gets tired" of the questions about him and Allen, noting that he's already addressed the situation (or lack thereof) multiple times. Diggs has four years remaining on the extension he signed in April of 2022, but there's nonetheless been trade speculation in recent weeks, as the deal doesn't have any guaranteed money remaining and his production dropped considerably in the second half of the 2023 season. On the other hand, Buffalo doesn't have much else at wide receiver -- especially with Gabe Davis scheduled for free agency -- and the first half of 2023 featured one of Diggs' most productive stretches with the team, including five 100-yard games within the first six weeks and seven TDs through nine weeks. He had just one more TD and no 100-yard games thereafter, with his catch rate nosediving to 58.7 percent over the final eight games of the regular season even though he saw less volume (7.9 targets per game) and the Bills won six of those contests. Diggs then finished the season on even more of a low note, dropping a deep ball midway through the fourth quarter of a 27-24 playoff loss to Kansas City. It sounds like the 30-year-old is open to all possibilities for his NFL future at this point.

  • Bills' Stefon Diggs: Drop highlights rough end to 2023

Diggs finished with three receptions on eight targets for 21 yards and added one carry for seven yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs. Diggs' late-season decline continued with another underwhelming stat line of four touches. The veteran starter's eight targets trailed only fellow wideout Khalil Shakir (7-44-1), who finished Sunday's loss with nine. Diggs' rough night got worse when the star receiver failed to bring in a deep shot attempt that hit him in the hands on the Bills' final drive. The 31-year-old posted his sixth consecutive 1,000-yard campaign in 2023, but his meager 47/422/2 receiving line over Buffalo's last 10 games (including the postseason) hints at a possible decline heading into 2024.

  • Bills' Stefon Diggs: Ready for Sunday's game

Diggs (foot/rest) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's divisional-round game against the Chiefs. Diggs was a non-participant Thursday due to a foot injury and rest, but then Friday coach Sean McDermott told Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network that he wasn't concerned about the wide receiver's health heading into the weekend. Despite logging a limited walkthrough to cap the week, Diggs has been cleared to suit up Sunday, while fellow WR Gabe Davis (knee) won't be available. That could open up more looks for Diggs, who had four catches (on 11 targets) for 24 yards in Buffalo's Week 14 win at Kansas City.

  • Bills' Stefon Diggs: Limited with foot injury Friday

Coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Diggs (foot) will be limited at practice, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. McDermott said that Diggs' foot injury initially occurred during Monday's 31-17 playoff win over the Steelers, but the issue popped up more significantly at practice Thursday. While McDermott said the issue doesn't concern him regarding Diggs' availability for Sunday's divisional-round playoff matchup against Kansas City, the veteran wideout's health will warrant close mentoring. With Gabe Davis (knee) already ruled out for Sunday's contest, the Bills would be forced to lean increasingly on Khalil Shakir, Trent Sherfield and Deonte Harty if Diggs is hampered at all Sunday.

  • Bills' Stefon Diggs: Leads team with seven receptions

Diggs finished with seven receptions and 52 yards off of nine targets in Monday's 31-17 playoff win over the Steelers. Diggs led all Buffalo receivers in both targets and receptions, but he was outproduced from a fantasy standpoint by rookie tight end Dalton Kincaid's 3-59-1 receiving line. The nine-year pro went ice-cold at the end of the regular season, so Monday's vanilla output didn't inspire confidence that the star wideout has regained his own confidence heading into the divisional round of the playoffs. If there was ever a time for Diggs to drop one of his signature monster receiving games, it would be for Sunday's tilt against the Chiefs, against whom Diggs and several other Bills suffered a crushing loss to in the playoffs roughly two calendar years ago.
