Curry will announce his retirement from professional football Thursday in a ceremony during the Eagles' game against the Commanders, Andrew DiCecco of InsideTheBirds.com reports. A second-round selection of the Eagles in the 2012 NFL Draft, Curry spent seven of his 10 NFL seasons in Philadelphia. He also had stints with the Buccaneers and most recently with the Jets, with whom he spent the 2022 season. He'll end his career with 209 tackles (150 solo), including 32.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries across 134 games. The defensive end won his lone Super Bowl title as a member of the Eagles during the 2017 season.... See More ... See Less

Jets' Vinny Curry: Not playing Sunday
Curry (elbow) is inactive Sunday against the Seahawks. Curry closed out the week with a limited practice Friday, but he's still not well enough to suit up. His absence will weaken the Jets' depth on the edges, as well as on special teams.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Vinny Curry: Lands on IR
The Jets placed Curry (hamstring) on injured reserve Thursday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports. Curry initially signed with the Jets in March of 2021 but missed the entire season after being placed on the reserve/NFI list at the end of August. He'll now be forced to miss at least the first four games of the 2022 campaign due to a hamstring issue that's lingered since the beginning of training camp. The 2012 second-round pick has totaled 32.5 sacks and 194 tackles across 123 career games, but it's uncertain how productive he'll be after not appearing in a game for over a year.... See More ... Jets' Vinny Curry: Absent from camp
Curry (hamstring) was not present at practice Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. It's a discouraging sign for Curry, who already hasn't seen game action since 2020 thanks to complications that cropped up after a surgery he underwent to remove his spleen before last season. Once he's able to return from the hamstring issue he's now dealing with, he'll compete for a depth role at defensive end behind Carl Lawson and John Franklin-Myers.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Vinny Curry: Reups with Jets
Curry (illness) re-signed with the Jets on Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Curry signed a one-year deal with the Jets last offseason, but he missed all of 2021 due to developing blood clots after having surgery to remove his spleen. The 33-year-old veteran last played in 2020 with the Eagles, where he recorded 16 tackles and three sacks in 11 contests. He'll work to help the Jets pass rush, which was near the bottom of the league with just 33 sacks last season.... See More ... See Less -
Jets' Vinny Curry: Placed on reserve/NFI
The Jets moved Curry to the reserve/non-football injury list Tuesday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports. Coach Robert Saleh said back in July that Curry could be available by Week 2, but his shift to the reserve/NFI list means he will be forced to sit out the first six weeks of the 2021 season. The veteran defensive end appeared in 11 games with the Eagles last season, during which time he racked up 16 tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery.... See More ... See Less -
Eagles' Vinny Curry: Lands on COVID list
Curry was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday. Given this update, Curry has either tested positive for COVID-19 or has come in close contact with someone who has. The Eagles reported a positive test within the building Thursday, shifting a total of five players to the reserve/COVID-19 list in response. If the positive test is confirmed and Curry is sidelined for a minimum of five days per NFL protocol, depth behind Brandon Graham at right defensive end would be reduced heading into a Week 11 matchup against the Browns.... Eagles' Vinny Curry: Cleared for practice
The Eagles designated Curry (hamstring) to return from injured reserve Wednesday. Curry's 21-day practice window has thus officially opened, though the Eagles likely won't need to evaluate him for that full timeframe before deciding whether to add him to the active roster. The veteran defensive end could retake the field as early as Sunday's contest in Pittsburgh.... See More ... See Less -
Eagles' Vinny Curry: Shakes off injury
Curry (lower body) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report and will be ready for Sunday's game versus Washington. Curry sat out toward the end of training camp with a vague prognosis, but the 32-year-old defensive end appears ready for his ninth season in the league. Last year, he averaged nearly 25 defensive snaps per game, but he could be counted on for a heightened role to begin the 2020 season since Derek Barnett (hamstring) started the practice week with a limited session.... Eagles' Vinny Curry: Getting one-year deal
Curry is signing a one-year contract with the Eagles, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Curry visited with a number of teams since being cut loose from Tampa Bay last month, but he's now officially heading back to the team he won a Super Bowl with just two seasons ago. It's not clear how large a role he'll have in his age-31 season, but Curry nonetheless figures to maintain a key role in the defensive end rotation. His importance would become even more pronounced if Chris Long decides to hang up the cleats.... See More ... See Less -
Buccaneers' Vinny Curry: Cut after one season in Tampa
The Buccaneers are releasing Curry on Tuesday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Signed to a three-year, $27 million contract last offseason, Curry managed just 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks across 12 games (seven starts) in his lone season with Tampa Bay. The 30-year-old defensive end may draw interest as a potential starter on the free-agent market, but he'll presumably have to settle for a smaller contract this time around. The Bucs likely will transition to a 3-4 scheme -- or at least a hybrid version -- under new defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.... See More ... See Less -
Buccaneers' Vinny Curry: Returns to practice
Curry (ankle) was a full participant at Wednesday's practice, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. Curry has missed five of the last six games with the ankle issue, but he is on track to return Sunday against the 49ers after facing no limitations Wednesday. The 30-year-old's first year in Tampa Bay has yielded little production thus far, as he has only 11 total tackles and 1.5 sacks in six games.... See More ... See Less -
Buccaneers' Vinny Curry: Won't play Sunday
Curry (ankle) was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Redskins, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. Curry returned from the ankle issue last Sunday against the Panthers, but he apparently aggravated the injury and did not practice this week. Carl Nassib should step into a starter's workload at defensive end for the Buccaneers.... See More ... See Less -
Buccaneers' Vinny Curry: Practices in limited fashion
Curry (ankle) was able to practice on a limited basis Wednesday, Carmen Vitali of the team's official site reports. Curry spent last week in a walking boot, which naturally led to inactive status in Week 8 against the Bengals. His return to practice Wednesday is certainly a step in the right direction with respect to his chances of suiting up against the Panthers for a key Week 9 divisional clash. Curry's prognosis should become increasingly clearer as the rest of the practice week unfolds.... See More ... See Less -
Buccaneers' Vinny Curry: Ruled out for Week 8
Curry (ankle) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. Curry will miss his second consecutive game due to an ankle injury. The veteran defensive end was spotted in an ankle boot in practice this week, and a timetable for his return remains undisclosed. Carl Nassib is expected to slot into the starting lineup once again in Curry's absence.... See More ... See Less -
Buccaneers' Vinny Curry: Ruled out for Week 7
Curry (ankle) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns, Greg Auman of The Athletic reports. Curry's lack of availability is no surprise, considering that the veteran defensive end has yet to participate in practice since suffering an ankle injury during Tampa's loss to the Falcons in Week 6. A recovery timetable for Curry's injury remains undisclosed, but as long as he remains sidelined, expect Carl Nassib to play an increased defensive role.... See More ... See Less -
Buccaneers' Vinny Curry: Another sack in loss
Curry recorded three tackles and half a sack across 55 defensive snaps in Monday's loss to the Steelers. Curry now has 1.5 sacks and four tackles in his first season with the Buccaneers. His 55 defensive reps were third-highest on the defensive line only behind Gerald McCoy and Jason Pierre-Paul.... See More ... See Less -
Buccaneers' Vinny Curry: Sack in Buccaneers debut
Curry recorded one solo tackle and a sack across 48 defensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Saints. Curry was brought in during the offseason as part of a retooled defensive line for the Buccaneers, which also includes fellow newcomers Jason Pierre-Paul and Beau Allen. Curry will look to add to his sack total Sunday against his former team, the Eagles.... See More ... See Less -
Buccaneers' Vinny Curry: Likely headed to Tampa Bay
Curry is set to sign with the Bucs, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. The news of Curry's three-year deal -- reportedly worth up to $27 million -- comes on the heels of Robert Ayers' release. Curry spent the last six seasons in Philadelphia, where he accumulated 22 sacks over the years. The versatile pass rusher has shown flashes of star potential but has struggled with consistency at times.... See More ... See Less -
Eagles' Vinny Curry: Not guaranteed to be released
The Eagles are in negotiations to keep Curry at a more team-friendly price, and other teams have also expressed interest in trading for the defensive end, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Curry was originally expected to be released due to his $9 million cap hit in 2018, but it's now apparent that the Philadelphia front office may have other plans in mind. However, it isn't clear how willing Curry may to take a pay cut, nor which teams may have interest in him should he remain under contract at his current salary.... See More ... See Less
