Freeman is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles. For the second time in three days, Freeman will hit the bench as the Guardians open up room in center field for Daniel Schneemann. Over his last 10 games, Freeman has gone 4-for-31 at the plate, and his June swoon could end up costing him his regular spot in the starting lineup.... See More ... See Less

Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Not in Tuesday's lineup
Freeman is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Mariners. It looks to be a routine day off for the 25-year-old. Daniel Schneemann will start in center field for the Guardians on Tuesday while Freeman gets some rest.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Taking seat Friday
Freeman is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Blue Jays. Freeman is hitting .194 through nine games in June and will sit Friday after starting the previous five games. Daniel Schneemann will start in center field and bat seventh.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Getting Thursday off
Freeman is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Royals. Freeman had been in line to receive Wednesday's game off before that contest was postponed due to inclement weather, but he'll see his streak of 20 consecutive starts come to an official end Thursday. Though he's moved out of the leadoff spot since the Guardians brought back Steven Kwan from the injured list Friday, Freeman has continued to thrive with four hits -- including a game-winning home run Tuesday -- and a stolen base over his last four starts. Utility man Daniel Schneemann will get the nod in center field Thursday in Freeman's stead.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Taking seat Wednesday
Freeman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals. Though he's moved out of the leadoff spot since the Guardians brought back Steven Kwan from the injured list Friday, Freeman has continued to thrive with four hits -- including a game-winning home run Tuesday -- and a stolen base over his last four games. Utility man Daniel Schneemann will get the nod in center field Wednesday in what looks to be little more than a maintenance day for Freeman, who had started in each of Cleveland's last 20 games.... Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Adds steal Sunday
Freeman went 1-for-3 with a walk, a hit-by-pitch, one RBI and one stolen base in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Angels. Freeman is still hitting just .217 on the year, but he's made big strides by batting .302 (13-for-43) over his last 12 contests. He's hit leadoff during that entire span, though his time atop the order will likely end when Steven Kwan (hamstring) returns. Freeman has added a .667 OPS, seven steals, four home runs, 20 RBI and 29 runs scored across 184 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Perfect at plate Saturday
Freeman went 4-for-4 with a walk, a double, three runs, three RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 11-4 victory versus Minnesota. Freeman batted out of the leadoff spot for the sixth straight contest and broke out with the first four-hit game of his career. Among those knocks was a run-scoring double and a two-run single. Freeman is still batting just .221 on the season, but he may be rounding into form, as he's gone 8-for-17 with a 4:1 BB:K during his current five-game hitting streak.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Swats fourth homer
Freeman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-3 loss to the White Sox. Freeman hasn't been able to turn his hitting around in May -- he's gone 4-for-26 (.154) through nine games this month and is batting just .193 on the year. His homer Friday was his first since April 19, and only two of his hits in May have gone for extra bases. The 24-year-old has four homers, 13 RBI, 18 runs scored and four steals through 126 plate appearances. It's fair to question whether Freeman has earned his near-everyday role, but the Guardians are unlikely to shake things up too dramatically while Steven Kwan (hamstring) is out.... See More ... Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Nabs fourth steal
Freeman went 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base in Monday's 2-1 win over the Tigers. Freeman opened May 1-for-12 across four contests, and his last multi-hit effort before Monday was April 19. The 24-year-old is slashing just .204/.301/.347 this season while adding three home runs, four steals, 12 RBI, 17 runs scored and five doubles across 113 plate appearances. With Steven Kwan (hamstring) landing on the injured list Monday, Freeman should have more job security in center field while Estevan Florial, Ramon Laureano and Will Brennan combine to fill the corner outfield spots.... Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Absent from lineup
Freeman is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Houston. In a 1-for-14 stretch at the plate over his last four contests, Freeman will take a seat in the series finale. Gabriel Arias will occupy center field for the Guardians on Thursday.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Resting in Game 2
Freeman isn't in the Guardians' lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Yankees. After going 0-for-4 with an RBI en route to a loss in Saturday's first game, Freeman will retreat to the bench for Game 2. While he rests, Steven Kwan, Ramon Laureano and Estevan Florial will start across Cleveland's outfield.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Not in lineup Wednesday
Freeman isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the White Sox. Freeman has now started nine of 12 contests in center field this season for the Guardians, but he'll take a seat for the series finale with the White Sox. Ramon Laureano will patrol center in Freeman's stead.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Swats first long ball
Freeman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Monday in a loss to the Mariners. Freeman brought the Guardians to within two runs with his sixth-inning solo blast, but his team ultimately fell short. The long ball was the first of the campaign for the 24-year-old, who never hit more than six homers over a season in the minors. Freeman is better known for his speed and bat-to-ball ability, and he's attempting to use that skill set to hold down a near-everyday role in center field after playing mostly in the infield as a minor-leaguer.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Makes roster
Freeman will be on the Guardians' Opening Day roster, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports Friday. Freeman's defensive versatility likely played a big part in making the roster, as he hit a modest .286 with a .784 OPS over 11 Cactus League games. The 24-year-old provides cover around the infield and also saw ample playing time in center field during spring training. Center is one of the weak spots in the Guardians' lineup and the team is moving on from Myles Straw, who was waived. In addition to Freeman, Estevan Florial and Ramon Laureano could also see time in center, with Florial the only one of the trio who hits from the left side of the plate.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Offers utility upside
Freeman has gone 4-for-14 over six Cactus League games. Freeman has a home run, three RBI and two stolen bases so far this spring. A natural infielder, Freeman is blocked by Jose Ramirez at third base (his natural position) and Andres Gimenez at second base. Shortstop remains wide open, and Freeman is also getting looks in center field this spring, where he's competing with Myles Straw and Estevan Florial. Versatility should be a boon for Freeman's quest to begin 2024 in the majors even if he has to settle for a short-side platoon role.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Goes deep in loss
Freeman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Tigers. Freeman homered twice over his last four games of the season, giving him four long balls on the year. The infielder also posted a .242/.295/.366 slash line over 168 plate appearances. He added 18 RBI, 20 runs scored and five stolen bases, and he should have a chance to compete for a larger role in spring training next year.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Knocks third homer
Freeman went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Friday's 7-5 win over the Tigers. The multi-hit effort was Freeman's first since July 9, though his playing time has been limited. The 24-year-old infielder has gone 9-for-40 (.225) over 17 games in September while swatting two of his three homers on the season. He's batting .242 with a .645 OPS, five stolen bases, 17 RBI and 19 runs scored through 62 contests overall.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Activated from injured list
Freeman (shoulder) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Freeman missed the last two weeks of action with a shoulder issue. Brayan Rocchio and Gabriel Arias have been seeing action at shortstop for the Guardians since the Amed Rosario trade, but Freeman could be worked into the mix.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Placed on 10-day IL
Cleveland placed Freeman on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Aug. 2, with right shoulder soreness, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports. There's no exact diagnosis yet, but Freeman will be sidelined until at least next weekend. Jose Tena is joining the Guardians on Friday to provide additional middle infield depth behind Andres Gimenez, Brayan Rocchio and Gabriel Arias.... See More ... See Less -
Guardians' Tyler Freeman: Heads back to Triple-A
Cleveland optioned Freeman to Triple-A Columbus on Sunday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports. The move opens up a spot on the 26-man roster for lefty Logan Allen, who was called up from Triple-A ahead of his scheduled start Sunday versus the Marlins. Freeman went 2-for-7 at the dish in his brief cup of coffee with the Guardians and will return to regular playing time as he heads back to the International League.... See More ... See Less
