The Marlins placed Garrett on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a left forearm flexor strain.
The Marlins announced Saturday that Garrett wouldn't start as scheduled Sunday against the Mariners after he reported soreness in his left elbow. After further examination, the team has uncovered a strain in his left forearm, which will cause him to miss a few extra turns through the rotation. Kyle Tyler was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville in a corresponding move to start Sunday's contest.

Garrett was scratched from his scheduled start Sunday due to left elbow discomfort, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Garrett reported having problems in his elbow following a bullpen session Friday, so the Marlins will play it safe and hold him out of Sunday's contest. The 26-year-old southpaw will undergo further testing, and the results will help determine if he needs to spend some time on the injured list. Miami has not yet named a replacement starter for Sunday.
Garrett struck out six and allowed one run on five hits and no walks over six innings in a no-decision during Monday's extra-innings loss to the Cardinals.
Garrett served up a solo homer to Mike Siani in the fifth inning that turned out to be his only mistake in an otherwise stellar showing. The left-hander didn't issue a walk, making it the fourth time in his seven starts this season that he didn't allow a free pass. The 26-year-old has been inconsistent, as he has allowed four or more earned runs in four of his starts but has given up just two total runs in his other three appearances.
