Athletics' Seth Brown: Outrighted to Las Vegas
The Athletics outrighted Brown to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
Brown has started nearly every game for the A's this season, but he will be jettisoned off the 40-man roster and sent back to Triple-A after putting up just a .557 OPS through 195 plate appearances. The 31-year-old outfielder will remain within the organization, but his bat will presumably need to come alive in the minors for him to have any chance at returning to Oakland later this year. Lawrence Butler was recalled from Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

Brown authored the only multi-hit effort of the contest for Oakland, bouncing right back after seeing a five-game hitting streak snapped in the series opener Friday. The 31-year-old also surpassed last season's stolen-base tally of three with his swipe Saturday, and he's now slashing .209/.254/.351 across 142 plate appearances following his recent uptick at the plate.

Athletics' Seth Brown: Three hits in Thursday's win
Brown went 3-for-6 with a double, a stolen base and three runs scored in Thursday's 10-9 extra-innings win over the Rockies.
Brown didn't get much of a chance to drive in runs Thursday -- the first three batters in the Athletics' order went a combined 2-for-16 with two walks. Brown made up for it by hitting well and serving as the spark to get the Oakland offense going. He also scored the winning run in a frantic 11th-inning comeback. The outfielder's three-hit effort marked his fifth straight game with at least one hit, a stretch that's raised his slash line to .206/.254/.357 for the year. He's added five home runs, three steals, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored over 134 plate appearances. Brown has often found a spot in the lineup versus right-handed pitchers, but there will be a bit more pressure for him to perform with Daz Cameron called up Thursday to add to the Athletics' outfield depth.

Brown took Justin Lawrence deep in the seventh to knot the game up at four. He's now homered in two of his last three games and has a hit in three straight, but is still struggling to get going overall at the plate. He's slashing just .185/.236/.336 with five homers, 13 RBI, seven runs and an 8:42 BB:K in 127 plate appearances. Strikeouts have become a noticeable issue for the 31-year-old, as he's currently striking out at a 33.1 percent clip.

Brown went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Royals.
Brown tied the game at 2-2 with his second-inning blast off Seth Lugo. The homer was Brown's fourth hit over 13 games in May -- he's batting just .138 for the month and .179 for the year. The outfielder has added a .546 OPS, four homers, 11 RBI, six runs scored, two stolen bases and three doubles through 120 plate appearances. Brown's poor hitting has cost him playing time recently, with Brent Rooker picking up playing time in left field at Brown's expense. Brown can also play right field, where he's competing with Tyler Nevin for at-bats.

The lefty-hitting Brown has now sat out four times in five games, with three of his absences from the lineup coming against right-handed pitchers. Brown appears to be moving into more of a part-time role while Brent Rooker and Tyler Nevin have taken on more playing time at the corner-outfield spots and while Abraham Toro has gained traction at designated hitter.
