Though manager Torey Lovullo hinted earlier this week that Blaze Alexander would receive more playing time at third base going forward, Suarez still appears to be the Diamondbacks' preferred option at the hot corner for now. Though Alexander will man third base Sunday, Suarez had started in each of the previous three games and went 3-for-8 with a solo home run and three walks across those contests.... See More ... Suarez went 1-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run in Friday's 7-1 win over the White Sox. Suarez led off the fourth inning with his sixth home run of the season. His struggles at the plate have put his job at the Diamondbacks' primary third baseman in jeopardy, but Suarez has started two of the three games since manager Torey Lovullo indicated Blaze Alexander would see more time at third base.... Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Playing time to drop
Suarez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, and Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Blaze Alexander will receive more playing time at third base moving forward, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports. Wednesday's absence is just Suarez's fourth from the lineup this season, but it appears he'll sit more often going forward due to his .197/.263/.312 slash line through 66 games. Lovullo didn't specify how the playing time will be split, so it's possible Suarez still sees the majority of the action at the hot corner. Regardless, the 32-year-old should no longer be considered the Diamondbacks' everyday third baseman, at least for the time being.... See More ... See Less -
Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Dips below .200
Suarez went 0-for-4 in Friday's 10-3 loss to San Diego and is batting .198 through 63 games. Suarez's season-opening slump continued into the month of June; he's 2-for-23 (.087) over seven games this month and dipped below .200 for the first time. He remains fourth on the team with 28 RBI, production that helped mask his slump over the first month and a half, but Suarez has delivered just five runs over the last 22 contests, and his .582 OPS has gotten harder to ignore....
