Profar (knee) will start in left field and bat second Sunday versus the Brewers. Profar guaranteed he would return to the starting nine Sunday after missing Saturday's 6-4 win, and he has come through on his promise. The 31-year-old has tallied at least one base hit in each of his last six games, going 7-for-24 with three RBI and three runs scored in that span.... See More ... See Less

Padres' Jurickson Profar: Guarantees return Sunday
Profar (knee) is available off the bench Saturday against the Brewers and said that he will "100 percent" be playing in Sunday's series finale, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Profar was removed from Friday's game with a left knee issue and was held out of the starting lineup Saturday. However, it sounds like he'll be back in action Sunday and appears to have avoided a significant injury. He's in the midst of a breakout campaign at the age of 31, slashing .320/.415/.483 with 10 home runs across 317 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Held out of starting lineup
Profar (knee) is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Brewers. Profar was removed for a pinch runner late in Friday's game due issues with his knee. Considering he's dealt with an injury to his left knee recently, his removal could be precautionary. However, Tyler Wade will fill left field Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: May have aggravated knee issue
Profar (knee) was removed for a pinch runner in the seventh inning of Friday's game against the Brewers, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. Profar dealt with a knee injury earlier in June, and he didn't appear to be running at full strength to begin Friday's game. As a result, the Padres replaced him after a one-out double with the score tied 5-5 in the seventh. Profar could end up getting additional time off this weekend.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Collects two hits in return
Profar went 2-for-4 in Friday's loss to the Mets. Profar missed Wednesday's contest due to left knee soreness. The issue has been ongoing for Profar, but Wednesday's absence was his first of the campaign, so it's likely that he'll continue playing through it unless the injury worsens. Profar has been among the best hitters in the league this season -- his two singles Friday pushed his batting average up to .326, second among qualified hitters in the majors behind teammate Luis Arraez.... Padres' Jurickson Profar: Back in San Diego lineup
Profar (knee) will start in left field and bat third in Friday's game versus the Mets. Profar exited Tuesday and sat out Wednesday due to left patellar tendinitis, which is something he's evidently dealt with off and on for years. However, he worked out pregame Friday following Thursday's team off day and is feeling well enough to give it a go.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Taking seat due to sore knee
Profar (knee) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics. Profar started in each of the Padres' first 71 games of the season, but he'll hit the bench for the first time after he was forced out of Tuesday's 4-3 win in the eighth inning due to a sore left knee. Manager Mike Shildt disclosed after the contest that Profar has been battling patellar tendinitis in the knee for years, but the 31-year-old aggravated the injury on a swing during his eighth-inning at-bat. Though Shildt downplayed the knee issue, the skipper admitted that he was unsure if Profar -- who leads the National League with a .424 on-base percentage -- would require imaging on the knee, per Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune. Jose Azocar will cover left field Wednesday in place of Profar, whose status will presumably be updated following Thursday's team off day.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Dealing with sore knee
Manager Mike Shildt said after Tuesday's game versus Oakland that Profar was removed due to left knee soreness, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. Profar's left leg gave out on him after he swung and missed at a pitch in the seventh inning, but it appears he escaped the incident without any significant damage. Shildt also noted that Profar has been dealing with problems in his knee for a while and is being viewed as day-to-day going forward. Should the 31-year-old outfielder have to sit out a game or two, David Peralta would likely be the next man up to serve as San Diego's left fielder.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Exits with leg injury
Profar was removed from Tuesday's game against Oakland after suffering an apparent leg injury, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. Profar's left leg buckled after he took a swing at a pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning. He was immediately taken out of the game by trainers and will presumably undergo testing in the clubhouse. More information on his status should be available after the game.... See More ... Padres' Jurickson Profar: Homers in blowout loss
Profar went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Diamondbacks. Profar took Tommy Henry deep in the third inning for his second home run over his last three games. Since May 28, the switch hitter has racked up five multi-hit performances while slashing .349/.431/.605 with three homers, 11 RBI, six runs and a 6:9 BB:K in 50 plate appearances. The 31-year-old's .325 average currently ranks second in baseball, while his .302 xBA ranks 11th among qualified batters.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Drives in four in win
Profar went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a three-run double in Friday's 10-3 win over the Diamondbacks. Profar went back-to-back with Fernando Tatis in the first inning and then added his two-bagger in the eighth as part of a five-run inning. Through seven games in June, Profar has gone 7-for-25 (.280) with three extra-base hits and a 3:6 BB:K. The outfielder has only slightly cooled off after his impressive first two months -- he's now at a .325/.418/.496 slash line with nine homers, 42 RBI, 35 runs scored and four stolen bases over 67 contests.... Padres' Jurickson Profar: Records fourth steal
Profar went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Diamondbacks. Profar is batting well lately, going 12-for-35 (.343) over his past 10 contests. His steal Thursday was his fourth of the season and his first since May 15. The outfielder is up to a .323/.418/.480 slash line with eight home runs, 38 RBI and 34 runs scored through 263 plate appearances, putting him on pace to shatter his career highs in nearly every category if he can maintain his current levels of production.... Padres' Jurickson Profar: Continues hot hitting
Profar went 3-for-5 with two RBI in Friday's 11-8 victory versus the Royals. Profar plated a run with a single in the sixth inning and added another RBI knock in the Padres' nine-run eighth. The veteran is working on a modest four-game hitting streak, during which he's gone 7-for-15 with a home run and five RBI. Profar's .330 batting average this season is second in the majors behind only teammate Luis Arraez (.342).... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Three RBI in Tuesday's win
Profar went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and three RBI in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Marlins. Profar was the main source of offense for the Padres in this one. He got his night started on the right foot with a two-run blast to center in the first inning and then added on with an RBI single in the fifth. Tuesday was his fifth game this season with three or more RBI, and he remains top five in baseball in both batting average (.323) and on-base percentage (.419).... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: On base four times in loss
Profar went 1-for-1 with three walks and a run scored in Wednesday's loss to the Rockies. Profar notched a base hit in the fourth and worked walks in his other three plate appearances. It's the first time since June 29, 2022 that he's walked three times in one game. Profar has been one of the biggest surprises in baseball thus far and is now 10th in the majors with a .324 batting average and fourth with a .416 OBP after Tuesday night.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Clubs homer Monday
Profar went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Rockies. Profar has hit safely in eight of 11 games in May, going 13-for-40 (.325) with three homers and 10 RBI this month. The 31-year-old is slashing .320/.402/.517 with seven long balls, 29 RBI, 23 runs scored, eight doubles and two stolen bases over 44 contests. Profar's best season in the majors was the abbreviated 2020 campaign, and he hit just nine homers with 46 RBI over 125 games last year -- he'll likely post stronger marks in 2024, but his current pace will be tough to sustain.... Padres' Jurickson Profar: Goes yard at Wrigley Field
Profar went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run during Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Cubs. Profar, who's working on a four-game hit streak, was the only source of offense for the Padres, providing a two-run homer in the top of the eighth to put San Diego ahead 2-1. However, the Cubs scored a run apiece in the eighth and ninth to erase Profar's long ball and steal the win. At the age of 31, Profar is enjoying a breakout season, boasting a .958 OPS and a 179 WRC+ through 150 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Another multi-hit performance
Profar went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored in Saturday's blowout win over the Diamondbacks. He also stole a base. Profar reached on a fielder's choice play in the first before stealing his second base of the season and later kicked off a two-run inning with a leadoff single in the fourth. He would add two more hits on the night, including a two-run homer off Brandon Hughes in the seventh as the Padres ran away with their fourth straight win. The veteran outfielder has now ripped off three or more hits in three of his last four games and has hit safely in nine of his last 10. Over that latter stretch, he has three home runs and eight RBI with 10 runs scored.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Goes 4-for-4 on Wednesday
Profar went 4-for-4 with a run and two RBI in Wednesday's 6-2 win against Cincinnati. Profar recorded his first four-hit game of the campaign and his third multi-hit performance over his past four contests. He's thrived since moving into the leadoff spot April 28, going 10-for-16 with a homer, three runs and three RBI over the four-game stretch. Profar is in the midst of an eight-game hitting streak during which he is batting an even .500 (15-for-30), lifting his season average to .342.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Jurickson Profar: Collects three more hits Tuesday
Profar went 3-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's win over Cincinnati. Profar extended his modest hitting streak to seven games, and he has three multi-hit performances over that stretch.
