Summary
Sallis, 22, was a five-star player in the Class of 2021, ranking 10th that year. (Chet Holmgren, Paolo Banchero and Shaedon Sharpe ranked at the top of that class.) He spent his first two seasons at Gonzaga, where he underwhelmed in relation to his expectations. The past two seasons at Wake Forest, he grew into his own and solidified himself as a worthwhile NBA prospect. His stock is all over the board, but his athleticism and mid-range shooting ability at the very least give him a chance to make a roster.
About
- Averaged 18.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, shot 45.7% from the field in his senior season
- A career 33.2% 3-point shooter as a 6-3 combo guard, including three seasons below 30%
- Two-time First Team All-ACC honoree
Strengths
- Impressive length. Sallis stands under 6-4 without shoes but has a 6-10 wingspan
- Can cut into gaps, get his shot up under duress and find ways to score from 8 to 14 feet quite well
- Mature attitude and infectious work ethic. He set the tone behind the scenes at Wake Forest for his teammates and held himself accountable
Weaknesses
- Start with his frame. He's slight and there are valid concerns about how much weight/muscle he can add on and keep now that he's fully grown
- The 3-point shot has to improve. Sallis will not stay in the league as a combo guard who shoots under 35%. Needs to be the No. 1 priority
- Defensively, he's decent but also not a dynamic player. On an NBA floor, he'll probably only be capable of facing up against one, maybe two of the five opponents
Combine Data
- 20-yard shuttle run: 2.94 seconds
- Wingspan: 6 feet, 10 inches
- Standing vertical leap: 31 inches
- Standing reach: 8 feet, 4 inches
- Lane agility: 10.99 seconds
- Three quarter sprint: 3.22 seconds
- Max vertical leap: 37.5 inches
