  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Perfect in Week 7 win

Shakir recorded seven receptions on seven targets for 65 yards in Sunday's 34-10 win over the Titans. Shakir's role in Buffalo's new-look offense after the addition of Amari Cooper was unclear entering this matchup, but he still led the team in receptions. Despite that, his numbers were muted relative to both Cooper and Keon Coleman -- both of whom hit for big plays -- as Shakir was used primarily in the short areas of the field. Shakir should remain a key target for Josh Allen due to the duo's pre-existing rapport, and he could become more efficient with defensive attention spread across multiple pass catchers.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Joined by Cooper in receiver room

Shakir is expected to move down a spot on the depth chart after the Bills acquired Amari Cooper from the Browns on Tuesday, Matt Bove of 7 News Buffalo reports. After trading Stefon Diggs to the Texans in April, the Bills had been leaning on a committee of receivers to help replace the four-time Pro Bowler's production through the first six weeks of the season. Shakir had been the de facto No. 1 option and led the position group in catches (20), receiving yards (249) and targets (21), but he'll fall back into the kind of supporting role he filled in 2023 while Cooper presumably steps in as quarterback Josh Allen's new top target. Bove speculates that Shakir and rookie Keon Coleman will line up alongside Cooper as the Bills' preferred wideout trio, but Mack Hollins and Curtis Samuel could still factor into the rotation as well.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Deemed questionable for MNF

Shakir (ankle) is officially listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Jets after practicing in a limited fashion Saturday. After being listed as a non-participant on Thursday and Friday's practice reports, Shakir was able to return to the field in some capacity Saturday. While Shakir's status won't be confirmed until Buffalo's inactive list is revealed 90 minutes ahead of Monday's 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff, fellow receivers Curtis Samuel (toe) and Mack Hollins (shoulder) both upgraded to full participation Saturday and don't carry Week 6 injury designations.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Non-participant in walkthrough

Shakir (ankle) was listed as a non-participant in Friday's walkthrough. The availability of Shakir, who didn't practice last week, thus remains cloudy ahead of Monday night's game against the Jets. If Shakir remains sidelined Week 6, Keon Coleman, Mack Hollins (shoulder), Curtis Samuel (toe) and Marquez Valdes-Scantling would be in line to lead the Bills' WR corps, pending the status of Hollins and Samuel, who were deemed limited both Thursday and Friday.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Still not practicing

Shakir (ankle) won't practice Wednesday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. Shakir didn't practice in any capacity last week before sitting out Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Texans. His continued absence from practice makes Shakir's availability for Monday's game against the Jets cloudy at this stage. While Shakir was sidelined Week 5, Keon Coleman, Mack Hollins, Curtis Samuel (foot) and Marquez Valdes-Scantling served as the Bills' top four receivers, but none of the quartet made a major mark on the box score on a day that quarterback Josh Allen completed just nine of 30 pass attempts.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Ruled out for Week 5

Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Shakir (ankle) won't play Sunday against the Texans. Shakir, who didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, thus will target a potential return to action Oct. 14 against the Jets. In Shakir's absence Sunday, Keon Coleman, Mack Hollins, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Curtis Samuel are on hand to lead Buffalo's wideout corps.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Not practicing

Shakir (ankle) won't practice Wednesday, Matt Parrino of The Syracuse Post-Standard reports. Shakir played a full game Sunday night at Baltimore but apparently injured his ankle somewhere along the way. He's been the de facto No. 1 option for a spread-the-wealth Buffalo passing attack, with his 19 percent target share and 230 receiving yards leading the team. An absence for Sunday's game at Houston would leave more snaps for Marquez Valdes-Scantling and/or Curtis Samuel while increasing the target projections for Keon Coleman and Mack Hollins.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Dealing with sore ankle

Shakir is contending with ankle soreness ahead of Sunday's game against the Texans, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports. With that in mind, coach Sean McDermott noted that the Bills will will monitor Shakir's status daily ahead of Week 5 action. The wideout thus appears likely to have his practice participation impacted, with further context on that front set to arrive Wednesday.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Targets caught streak snapped at 30

Shakir caught four of five targets for 62 yards in Sunday's 35-10 loss to the Ravens. Shakir's first catch surpassed Michael Thomas' mark of 27 from 2018 for the most consecutive targets caught by an NFL wide receiver since at least 1991. That streak bumped up to 30 before a pass in Shakir's direction fell incomplete in the second quarter. He bounced back with a 52-yard catch in the third quarter, but that was the highlight of an otherwise quiet night for Buffalo's offense. Shakir finished with the team lead in receiving yards for a third consecutive game despite missing a few plays to have his ankle taped up in the first half, so he's the clear No. 1 option in Buffalo's passing game heading into a Week 5 trip to Houston.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Sleeper WRs

Shakir made his case to be Buffalo's No. 1 receiver this season after his performance in Week 3 against Jacksonville with six catches for 72 yards and a touchdown on six targets. He has now caught all 14 of his targets this season, and he has two outings with at least 13.2 PPR points. This week, the Bills could be in a shootout with the Ravens, and Baltimore has already allowed five receivers to score at least 13.2 PPR points in three games. Shakir should be considered a borderline No. 2 receiver in all leagues.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Sleeper WRs

The volume hasn't been there for Shakir yet with only eight targets in two games, but he's been Buffalo's most reliable receiver so far with eight catches for 96 yards and a touchdown. He scored 13.2 PPR points in Week 1 against Arizona, and I'm hoping he can at least reach that total against Jacksonville. So far, three receivers have scored at least 12.3 PPR points against the Jaguars in two games against Miami and Cleveland, and Shakir should be started in all three-receiver leagues in Week 3.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Bright spot amid team's poor outing

Shakir caught all three targets for 28 yards during Saturday's 33-6 preseason loss to the Bears. You will probably hear this nugget several times before fantasy drafts are over, but Shakir is the only wideout on the roster to ever catch a pass from Josh Allen. With Stefon Diggs off to Houston and Gabe Davis moving to the Jaguars, Shakir may be the best bet for fantasy production among the Buffalo wideout corps. However, rookie Keon Coleman is showing promise while veteran Curtis Samuel figures to see a number of touches in a jack-of-all-trades role, while running back James Cook and tight end Dalton Kincaid figure to factor in heavily in the passing game.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Practicing during training camp

Shakir (lower body) participated in Buffalo's first training camp practice Wednesday, Alec White of the Bills' official site reports. The 2022 fifth-round pick suffered a minor injury during June minicamp but is still positioned for a key role in a revamped receiver corps that also includes veteran newcomers Curtis Samuel, Mack Hollins, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Chase Claypool, as well as rookie Keon Coleman. With Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis no longer around, Shakir is the only wideout on the roster who has caught a pass from quarterback Josh Allen in a regular-season game. Shakir logged a 39-611-2 receiving line on 45 targets over 17 regular-season games in 2023, then added 10 catches for 75 yards and two scores on 12 targets over two playoff contests.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Exits practice early

Shakir exited Tuesday's minicamp practice early due to an apparent lower-body issue, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Per Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo, Shakir chatted with trainers after suffering the injury and then limped off the field. He didn't return to the session and can be considered day-to-day. The 2022 fifth-rounder is the top returnee in a Buffalo WR corps that no longer includes Stefon Diggs or Gabe Davis, leaving Shakir to compete for snaps and targets with a group of newcomers that includes Curtis Samuel, rookie Keon Coleman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool and Mack Hollins.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: New teammate in WR room

Shakir gained competition for snaps and targets after the Bills took Keon Coleman out of Florida State with the first pick of the second round Friday. This may not end up being a terrible thing for Shakir's 2024 outlook, as it was doubtful the Bills were going to enter the season with such a thin wideout crew, and a big target like Coleman could draw defensive attention away from Shakir. The latter is coming off a 39-611-2 season in 17 regular-season games, but with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis off to new locales, Shakir has room to grow his production in his third NFL season. For now, he and Coleman project as starters, while Curtis Samuel is more of a hybrid No. 3.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Chance to shine

Shakir's teammate Gabe Davis has been ruled out of Sunday's playoff opener against the Steelers due to a knee injury. Shakir is coming off a fantastic game with six catches for 105 yards and will reprise the role of No. 2 wideout under top dog Stefon Diggs. There's a good chance Shakir will receive a healthy number of targets Sunday, though that comes with two caveats -- one is that the Bills always spread the ball around even when key players are hurt, the other being the weather forecast is calling for ugly, windy weather all afternoon.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Steps up in division-clinching game

Shakir caught all six of his targets for 105 yards in Sunday's 21-14 victory over the Dolphins. Gabe Davis left the game with a sprained PCL, but the Buffalo offense didn't miss a beat as Shakir stepped up. He finishes his second regular season with a 39-611-2 line, cementing himself as the clear No. 3 on the team -- not bad for a fifth-round pick. Shakir will be asked to handle No. 2 wideout duties behind Stefon Diggs if Davis isn't healthy in time for Sunday's playoff opener against the Steelers.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Modest role in important win

Shakir caught all four of his targets for 39 yards and carried once for 10 yards in Sunday's 27-21 win over the Patriots. Since posting three catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in Week 11, Shakir hasn't topped 47 receiving yards in the ensuing five games and remains a fantasy option only in deep leagues while he's stuck in an offense with many mouths to feed. With the Bills possibly having everything on the line for a playoff spot Sunday against the Dolphins and at the very least having important seeding at stake, Shakir doesn't project to see an expanded role while Buffalo has all its key players suit up. On a brighter note for his longer-term outlook, Shakir has firmly cemented himself as the team's No. 3 wideout in just his second NFL season.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Narrowly misses out on TD

Shakir recorded three catches on three targets for 45 yards in Saturday's 24-22 win over the Chargers. Shakir has found opportunity hard to come by with both Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox healthy, as he entered Saturday's win with only one target in each of his last two games. He still had limited volume against the Chargers, but he had three impactful gains of 16, 15 and 14 yards. It originally appeared that Shakir scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to put the Bills ahead, though he was ruled down by contact. While it was a solid performance, Shakir will remain a peripheral option in Buffalo's offense to close the regular season.

  • Bills' Khalil Shakir: Reels in one catch

Shakir caught his only target for 12 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Chiefs. Shakir played 61 percent of the Bills' offensive snaps in the contest, operating as Buffalo's No. 3 wideout behind Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. The 23-year-old wideout saw his opportunities decrease Sunday, as he recorded just one target for the first time since Week 6. Shakir isn't seeing enough meaningful work in the Bills' passing attack to make him a reliable option for fantasy. He'll look to be more involved in what could be a shootout when the Bills host the Cowboys in Week 15.
