Wills, who is a free agent, plans to sit out most of the 2025 season to fully recover from multiple knee injuries suffered over the previous two seasons, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports. Schultz noted that Wills could opt to sit out the entirety of 2025. Wills was the No. 10 overall pick by the Browns in the 2020 NFL Draft, but his career has halted in recent years due to lingering knee issues. He suffered an MCL injury in November 2023 and has dealt with complications and aggravations ever since, appearing in just 13 of a possible 34 games since the start of the 2023 campaign.... Browns' Jedrick Wills: Placed on injured reserve
The Browns placed Wills (knee) on injured reserve Saturday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Wills had been sidelined for the Browns' last three games due to a knee injury, and he had already been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Steelers. Wills will now be forced to miss at least the next four games, so he could be activated off IR ahead of the Browns' regular-season finale against the Ravens on Sunday, Jan. 5. Germain Ifedi will remain as the Browns' starting left tackle due to Wills' absence.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Staying sidelined
Wills (knee) will not play Thursday against the Steelers, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Wills has dealt with a knee issue throughout the season and also missed the team's Week 11 loss to the Saints. In his absence, Germain Ifedi will likely draw the start at left tackle.... See More ... Browns' Jedrick Wills: Won't play Week 8
Wills (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Ravens, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Wills was unable to practice all week and will be held out for a fifth straight game. Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters Friday that Wills' injury is to the same knee that was surgically repaired last year, per Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram. Wills will look to return to practice ahead of the Browns' Week 9 contest against the Chargers on Nov. 3.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Ready to return
Wills (knee) is active Week 5 against the Commanders. Wills suffered another knee injury in Week 3 and was subsequently held out of the following game, but after logging a pair of limited practices this week, he'll return to fill his role as the starting left tackle.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Could return in Week 5
Wills (knee) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Commanders, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Wills upgraded from a DNP on Wednesday to limited practices both Thursday and Friday, so it appears he could be trending toward playing in Week 5. The 2020 first-round pick has appeared in just one game this year after sustaining a season-ending knee injury in 2023, and if he's unable to suit up Sunday, expect Dawand Jones or Germain Ifedi to serve as the Browns' top left tackle.... Browns' Jedrick Wills: Ruled out for Week 4
Wills (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game versus Las Vegas, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Wills, the Browns' left tackle, missed the first two games of the season with a knee injury, returned for Week 3 against the Giants, and played 40 snaps before getting hurt again. He underwent an MRI this week, but the results of it aren't yet known. Cleveland's offensive line has been totally decimated by injuries. After Wills went out last week, star LG Joel Bitonio (knee) kicked over to left tackle due to No. 3 tackle James Hudson (shoulder) already being hurt. Veteran tackle Jack Conklin (shoulder) has also been ruled out for Week 4. The Browns were forced to sign veteran Germain Ifedi this week.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Likely to make 2024 debut Sunday
Wills (knee) is listed as questionable but is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Giants, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Wills has been working his way back from the MCL sprain that ended his 2023 season early and kept him out of the first two contests of the current campaign. If he's able to suit up Sunday as expected, his addition would be a major boost to a Browns offensive line that has allowed eight sacks through two weeks.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Questionable for Sunday
Wills (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Giants, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. It's a big step forward for Wills, who sat out the first two weeks of the new season as he continues to recover from knee surgery. If Cleveland ultimately errs on the side of caution with him in Week 3, James Hudson would probably start at left tackle.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Back at practice
Wills (knee) logged a limited practice Thursday, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports. Wills didn't practice at all Wednesday, so this news puts the Alabama product on a positive trajectory toward Sunday's game against the Jaguars. However, a clearer picture of his status for Week 2 won't come until Friday, when the Browns release their next injury report.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Unable to practice Wednesday
Wills (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Wills wasn't able to suit up Week 1, but he began the week as a limited participant in practice and has since missed three consecutive sessions. He has two more chances to upgrade his activity level before receiving an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Wills will start at left tackle when healthy, but until then that role may continue to fall to James Hudson.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Won't play Week 1
Wills (knee) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's Week 1 contest against the Cowboys, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Wills told reporters Wednesday that he wouldn't be starting during Sunday's contest, so this news comes as no surprise. Head coach Kevin Stefanski spoke with reporters Friday, stating that Jack Conklin (knee) and James Hudson are both options to start at left tackle in Week 1, per Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram.... Browns' Jedrick Wills: Logs DNP
Wills (knee) did not practice Thursday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Wills logged a limited practice Wednesday but took a step backward Thursday. This could be by design as he ramps up his activity coming off knee surgery. His status for Friday's session will likely bring more clarity there, as well as insight into his status for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Nearing return
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Wills (knee) is "getting close" to returning to the field, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. Despite Stefanski's positive comments, the 25-year-old offensive tackle sat out Monday's practice. His status for Sunday's Week 1 contest against the Cowboys is still up in the air, and if Wills is unable to suit up, expect James Hudson (ankle) or Jack Conklin to protect Deshaun Watson's blindside.... Browns' Jedrick Wills: Placed on PUP list
Wills (knee) was placed on the active/PUP list by the Browns on Wednesday. Wills underwent knee surgery in December, and he'll be forced to open training camp on the sidelines as a result. The offensive lineman is geared up to be Cleveland's starting left tackle in 2024 and is eligible to return to practice and play at any point during the preseason.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Option picked up by Cleveland
The Browns converted Wills' (knee) fifth-year option Friday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. The 2020 first-round pick missed over half of the Browns' 2023 campaign with a knee issue, but the team has still decided to pick up his fifth-year option. Wills has started all 53 games he's appeared in for Cleveland since entering the league, so he's expected to retain that role in 2024 (barring any injury setbacks). This move also clears roughly $10.44 million in cap space for the Browns.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Undergoes surgery, out for season
Wills (knee) underwent season-ending arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports. Wills was placed on injured reserve back in November after suffering a high-grade MCL sprain, a low-grade PCL sprain and bone bruises Week 9, and it's now confirmed that he will remain on IR for the duration of the 2023 campaign. Cleveland's offensive line already lost fellow starting tackle Jack Conklin (knee) back in Week 1, while rookie replacement Dawand Jones (knee) just suffered a season-ending injury of his own during Sunday's win over the Jaguars.... Browns' Jedrick Wills: Lands on IR
Wills (knee) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Wills was able to return to the Browns' Week 9 contest after dealing with a knee issue earlier in the game, but he was later carted off the field with a second knee injury after getting rolled up on by Kareem Hunt. James Hudson projects to step into Wills' spot on Cleveland's offensive line, and the team will be without both of its starting tackles going forward.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Expected to go to IR
Coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Wills (knee) will be placed on Cleveland's injured reserve list, Jake Trotter of ESPN.com reports. Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Wills sustained a high-grade MCL sprain, a low-grade PCL sprain and bone bruises during Sunday's game versus Arizona. Once he's moved to the injured reserve list, he'll become ineligible to play in the Browns' next four games, and he could sit out even longer than that. In the meantime, 2021 fourth-rounder James Hudson is expected to take over as the starter at left tackle.... See More ... See Less -
Browns' Jedrick Wills: Chance to return vs. Arizona
Wills (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
