Fantasy News

  • Commanders' Sheldon Day: Back with Washington

Day re-signed with the Commanders on a one-year deal Thursday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Day handled a key rotational role along Washington's defensive line in 2024, suiting up for 12 regular-season contests and all three of the team's playoff games. He stands to similarly provide depth in 2025, though heading into his age-31 season, Day no longer provides fantasy upside in IDP formats.

  • Commanders' Sheldon Day: Plays in most games since 2019

Day suited up in 12 regular-season contests in 2024, logging 24 tackles (12 solo) and one defensed pass. After playing in all 16 regular-season games with San Francisco in 2019, Day appeared in just 17 contests combined over the next four years and missed all of 2022 in part due to a back injury. He was given an opportunity when the Commanders signed him to their practice squad ahead of the 2024 campaign, and Day ended up getting signed to the active roster in October. While he didn't make any starts, Day was a key rotational piece along Washington's defensive line, as he logged over 25 percent of Washington's defensive snaps in all but two of the contests in which he appeared, including in all three of the team's playoff games. Though he didn't put up big numbers, Day played well for the upstart Commanders, so the organization could look to re-sign him in free agency.

  • Browns' Sheldon Day: Re-signs with Cleveland

Day signed a one-year contract with the Browns on Monday, Anthony Poisal of the team's official website reports. Day made seven appearances for Cleveland last year and totaled 21 tackles, two pass deflections and one sack. The 2016 fourth-round pick figures to garner a similar role again in 2022.

  • Browns' Sheldon Day: Signs to active roster

Day signed with the active roster from the Browns' practice squad Tuesday. Day was a fourth-round selection by the Jaguars in 2016 and has since spent time with San Francisco, Indianapolis and now Cleveland, since leaving Jacksonville, Day has made two previous appearances on the active roster in 2021, totaling 55 defensive snaps and seven tackles (two solo).

  • Colts' Sheldon Day: Returning to practice

Day (knee) is set to return to practice Wednesday, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports. Day's return to practice kicks off a 21-day window for the Colts to evaluate whether to add him to the active roster or let him revert back to IR for the rest of the year. He's recovering from a minor knee procedure undergone late August.

  • Colts' Sheldon Day: Links with Indianapolis

Day agreed Wednesday with the Colts on a one-year contract, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Day kicked off the 2019 campaign as a backup in San Francisco, but he was thrust into a starting role Week 11 following a season-ending injury to D.J. Jones (ankle) and performed admirably in that role. He'll provide the Colts with depth at defensive tackle.
