There is no other way to say it; Bobby Miller is going to be one of the most highly sought after pitchers in fantasy baseball this season after his successful rookie debut. He won half his 22 starts at the big league level showcasing elite velocity as well as six different offerings - five of which had at least a 20% whiff rate attached to them. It is impossible not to be excited about Miller's fantasy future as long as his right arm avoids the surgeon's table after watching so many talented pitchers run into that unfortunate future in recent seasons and especially last season. The only area where Miller could stand to improve is generating more strikeouts as his current production is not limited by his stuff but more by the fact opposing batters do not chase his stuff out of the zone. Once he is able to get hitters into protect mode more frequently, the sky is the limit for him. Miller's upside is staff ace, but it is unlikely he will provide the same volume of other aces in 2024.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Struggles in short outing

Miller did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 4-3 win against the White Sox, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks over two innings. He struck out one. The Dodgers right-hander labored through just two innings against a feeble White Sox lineup, requiring 60 pitches with only 32 percent being in the zone. Miller has been unsteady since returning from the injured list June 19, generating a 8.64 ERA and 3:4 K:BB across 8.1 innings versus two weak opponents -- Chicago and Colorado. He'll to bounce back in his next start, currently scheduled against the Giants on the road this weekend.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Allows five runs in return

Miller gave up five runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two over 6.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Wednesday. Miller missed over two months with a shoulder injury, and making his return at Coors Field was always going to be a tough task. He left the game with a lead in the seventh inning, but the Dodgers couldn't stay ahead. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 6.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 20:9 K:BB over 18 innings through four starts this season. Miller continues to have plenty of upside as a young pitcher supported by a strong offense, but it may take him a few starts to get fully comfortable again in the majors. He's projected for a favorable road matchup versus the White Sox in his next outing.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Reinstated for Wednesday's start

The Dodgers activated Miller (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start Wednesday against the Rockies, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Timesreports. The right-hander has been sidelined by shoulder inflammation since mid-April, but he's ready to rejoin the big-league rotation after a four-start rehab assignment in the minors. Miller posted a 5.40 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB over 11.2 frames in three outings prior to the injury. Walker Buehler (hip) is headed to the injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Returning Wednesday

Manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Miller (shoulder) will return from the injured list and start Wednesday against the Rockies, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. Right shoulder inflammation has kept Miller on the injured list since mid-April, but he began a rehab assignment May 26. While he's put up a 7.80 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and 10:8 K:BB through 15 innings, he was able to touch 99 mph with his fastball during his last outing. Miller will be welcomed back to the big leagues by a Rockies offense that currently ranks 17th in the majors with a .687 OPS, though we'll at least note this will be a road game in Colorado.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Works 4.2 innings

Miller (shoulder) allowed five earned runs on six hits and three walks while striking out four across 4.2 innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday. This was likely Miller's final rebab appearance before being activated from the injured list. While the surface stats weren't strong, his fastball was measured between 96 and 99 mph, and he threw 51 of 93 pitches for strikes. If the Dodgers elect to keep him on five days rest and bring him back to the big-league roster, Miller would make his return at Coors Field on Tuesday.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Geared up for another rehab start

Miller (shoulder) will make another rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports. Miller was effective in his last outing with Oklahoma City, pitching four innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out two batters Friday. Manager Dave Roberts said that if all goes well Thursday, it'll be Miller's final appearance of his rehab assignment before he'll return to the major-league roster. The 25-year-old has been on the 15-day injured list since April 13 due to right shoulder inflammation, but Miller now appears to be on the doorstep of making his return after two months on the shelf.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Set for another rehab outing

Miller (shoulder) will make his next minor-league rehab start Friday or Saturday and is scheduled to throw about four innings, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. Miller allowed three runs and threw 55 pitches over three frames in his first rehab outing Sunday with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, and it's no surprise he'll require at least one more appearance in the minors before rejoining the Dodgers. The 24-year-old could be back in the big-league rotation as early as next week, but it's also possible he'll require a third rehab outing.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Scheduled for sim game

Miller (shoulder) is expected to throw a simulated game Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Miller continues to make progress in his recovery after being sent to the 15-day injured list April 13 due to right shoulder inflammation. He successfully completed a bullpen session Saturday, and as expected, he's now been given the green light to toss a sim game. Miller will likely be sent out on a rehab assignment later in the week, assuming all goes well Tuesday.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Throws another bullpen Saturday

Miller (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Miller is now expected to throw a three-inning simulated game within the next few days. Assuming all goes well, he will then embark on a minor-league rehab assignment. The Dodgers haven't said how long they plan on keeping Miller in the minors, but considering he has been on the shelf since April 13, he will likely need to make multiple starts in order to get back to a starter's workload.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Approaching rehab assignment

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tuesday that Miller (shoulder) is coming up on a minor-league rehab assignment "pretty quickly," Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports. Miller threw a bullpen session Monday, his second since being placed on the injured list with inflammation in his right shoulder April 13. Roberts noted that the right-hander's velocity was "good" in the session and sounded optimistic about Miller's progress in his recovery from the injury. The second-year hurler will make at least one minor-league rehab start, though it's still unclear how many more bullpens he'll throw before he reaches that point.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: To IL with shoulder inflammation

Miller was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right shoulder inflammation, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports. A source told Harris that Miller's injury is "not severe" and surgery isn't expected to be needed, while Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic added that an MRI showed no structural damage. However, Miller is without a timeline for a return at this stage, and the Dodgers certainly will be cautious with the prized right-hander. Miller had struggled in his last two starts, allowing seven runs over 5.2 innings. He had been scheduled to start early next week against the Nationals, and it's not yet clear who might be tabbed to replace him in the Los Angeles rotation.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Strikes out 11 in win

Miller (1-0) earned the win in Friday's 6-3 victory over the Cardinals, allowing just two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings. He struck out 11. Miller was superb, striking out 11 of the 21 batters he faced en route to his first win of the campaign. The 24-year-old right-hander impressed as a rookie, going 11-4 with a 3.76 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 119 strikeouts across 22 starts last season. He figures to be a key piece of the Dodgers' rotation again in 2024. Miller's currently in line for a home start versus San Francisco in his next outing.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Will start Game 2 of first home set

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Miller will start the second game of Los Angeles' home-opening set against the Cardinals that starts Thursday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports. In the Dodgers' season-opening two-game series against San Diego in South Korea, Tyler Glasnow started Game 1 and was followed by Yoshinobu Yamamoto in Game 2. However, with the team now back on U.S. soil and approaching the traditional opening series, Miller will follow Glasnow in the rotation while Yamamoto will get the ball third. Miller has had a decent spring, posting a 2.77 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 9:3 K:BB over 13 innings and finishing his exhibition slate with four shutout frames against the Angels on Sunday.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Tames Coors for 11th win

Miller (11-4) picked up the win in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rockies, giving up two runs on seven hits over seven innings in the Dodgers' 11-2 rout. He struck out nine without walking a batter. Making his first career appearance at Coors Field, Miller was unfazed by the hitter-friendly environment and carved up Colorado's lineup, generating 31 called or swinging strikes among his 91 pitches en route to a new career high in strikeouts. Miller has delivered three quality starts in five September outings, posting a 3.58 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 36:6 K:BB through 32.2 innings on the month to close the books on a strong rookie campaign, and he figures to be a key part of the Dodgers' postseason rotation.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Little help in loss

Miller (10-4) allowed two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out seven over six innings to take the loss Wednesday versus the Tigers. Miller put in a sharp performance, but the Dodgers' offense didn't give him enough run support. This was his first loss in five starts, and he's gone at least six innings in seven of his last eight appearances. Miller is at a 3.97 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 106:31 K:BB through 113.1 innings over 20 starts this season. He's lined up for a road outing in Colorado for his next start.

Miller (10-3) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out seven over 5.2 innings to earn the win over the Mariners on Friday. Miller came up an out short of a quality start, but he was still able to earn his fourth win in his last six starts. In that span, he's given up 18 runs over 38 innings. The rookie right-hander is at a 4.02 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 99:30 K:BB through 107.1 innings through 19 starts this season. Miller's projected for a favorable home start versus the Tigers next week.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Fans eight in no-decision

Miller came away with a no-decision Saturday in the Dodgers' 7-6 extra-innings loss to the Nationals, giving up five runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out eight. First pitch was delayed by over four hours due to rain, and Miller ended up delivering an erratic performance once the tarp was rolled back. The rookie right-hander set a new personal best for strikeouts in a start, generating 33 called or swinging strikes on 99 pitches, but he also gave up more than four runs for the first time since June 24. Miller also served up a homer for the fourth straight outing -- a two-run shot by Lane Thomas in the seventh inning -- and over that stretch he has a 4.78 ERA and 22:6 K:BB through 26.1 innings. Miller will look to get back on track in his next start, likely to come next weekend in Seattle.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Dealt third loss Tuesday

Miller dropped to 7-3 in Tuesday's 8-3 loss to the Guardians after allowing four earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five across 6.1 innings. Though the Dodgers staked Miller to an early 3-0 lead, the rookie couldn't hold up to his end of the bargain after holding the Guardians scoreless through three frames. He served up a solo home run and allowed another run in the fourth, then allowed consecutive runners to reach base with one out in the bottom of the seventh before he exited the contest. Reliever Caleb Ferguson ended up allowing both inherited runners to score, resulting in Miller being saddled with the loss. After the game, manager Dave Roberts told Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times that Miller won't be pitching in Sunday's series finale in Boston, as the Dodgers want to give the 24-year-old some extra rest coming off the 97-pitch outing. Miller will be denied a two-start week as a result, though he would line up for one the following week. He tentatively lines up to make his next turn Monday versus the Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Throws six shutout innings

Miller allowed four hits and four walks while striking out four over six shutout innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Miller was solid in this start after going 3.2 innings in his previous outing. The downside was that the four walks were a season high, though this was also his third scoreless outing and fifth quality start of the campaign. Miller is at a 3.89 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 66:21 K:BB through 69.1 innings over 13 starts. He appears likely to hold down the fifth start spot in the rotation going forward, with his next outing tentatively lined up to be at home versus the Brewers next week.

  • Dodgers' Bobby Miller: Inefficient Friday

Miller allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out three over 3.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Friday. Miller needed 82 pitches (49 strikes) to get 11 outs in an inefficient start. The right-hander has given up nine runs (eight earned) over 19.1 innings across his four appearances since the All-Star break. He's at a 4.26 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 62:17 K:BB through 63.1 innings across 12 starts overall. Miller is projected for a tough road start in Arizona next week, and he may be at risk of losing his place in the rotation if the Dodgers opt to put Ryan Yarbrough in his place in the coming weeks.
