Brewers' Robert Gasser: Undergoes Tommy John surgery
Brewers general manager Matt Arnold confirmed Wednesday that Gasser (elbow) underwent a traditional Tommy John surgery Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
As expected, Gasser wasn't a candidate for an internal brace procedure, which would have shortened his timetable. A return for Gasser late in the 2025 season would still appear possible, but he likely won't be an integral part of the team's plans until 2026.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Shifts to 60-day IL
The Brewers transferred Gasser (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Gasser will be out for the rest of the season and most of the 2025 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery Monday, so his move to the 60-day IL is hardly a surprise. He'll give up his 40-man roster spot to right-hander Joel Kuhnel, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Getting Tommy John surgery
Gasser is scheduled to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery Monday in Dallas, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
The Brewers previously disclosed Thursday that Gasser was headed for elbow surgery, but the team didn't immediately state what type of procedure the rookie left-hander was undergoing. However, after recently receiving a third opinion on the left flexor strain in his elbow from Dr. Keith Meister -- who will perform the operation Monday -- Gasser was recommended for Tommy John surgery rather than an internal brace procedure. Gasser will likely require anywhere from 12-to-18 months to make a full recovery from Tommy John surgery, meaning it's possible that he's not available to pitch at all during the 2025 season.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Elects for surgery
Gasser will have surgery Monday to repair UCL damage in his left elbow, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
It's unclear whether Gasser is undergoing Tommy John surgery or the internal brace procedure, but he will be out for at least the next 12 months. It's tough timing for the promising young pitcher, as he had pitched well across his first five big-league starts, maintaining a 2.57 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 28 innings.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Third opinion, surgery recommended
Gasser is mulling whether to have surgery on his left elbow after a third opinion concurred with the second that an operation is likely needed at some point, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Gasser is dealing with UCL damage in the elbow, and the Brewers are leaving the decision of surgery or rest and rehab up to the 25-year-old left-hander. He's been shut down from throwing for nearly three weeks already, so Gasser is facing a lengthy ramp-up even if he opts for the non-surgical route. If he decides to have surgery, Gasser would likely be sidelined for at least one year.

Brewers' Robert Gasser: Unlikely to pitch again in 2024
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said prior to Monday's 3-1 win over the Blue Jays that Gasser (elbow) is unlikely to return from the injured list this season, Steve Megargee of the Associated Press reports. "[Wade] Miley, Gasser and [Brandon Woodruff], you're probably not going to see," Murphy said. "It would probably be safe to say those three are out for the year."
Gasser was placed on the IL on June 5 with a left flexor strain, and though the rookie hasn't yet settled on a treatment plan for the injury, Murphy said that he's pessimistic Gasser will pitch again this season regardless of whether he undergoes surgery or opts for more extended rest and rehab. Since sustaining the injury coming out of his June 1 start against the White Sox, Gasser has sought two medical opinions on his elbow and is set to get another in the coming days when he meets with Dr. Keith Meister in Dallas. According to Murphy, one of the doctors has recommended that Gasser undergo a reconstruction surgery for the elbow, but it's unclear if the second opinion Gasser received from Dr. Neal ElAttrache concurred with that assessment. The Brewers will likely provide an update on how Gasser plans to treat the injury after Dr. Meister gets a chance to evaluate his elbow.
