Chourio went 2-for-4 with an inside-the-park home run and an additional run scored during Wednesday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Rangers.
Chourio showcased his blazing speed Wednesday, notching his second inside-the-parker of 2024 in the fourth inning after Derek Hill misplayed Chourio's line drive to center field. After a slow start to his rookie campaign, Chourio has been excellent in June, going 19-for-63 (.302) with three homers, 13 RBI and 11 runs over 21 games.

The rookie went 4-for-13 with a home run, a double and two walks over his previous four starts, and his recent surge at the plate could be enough for him to unseat the lefty-hitting Jake Bauers as a regular in the lineup versus right-handed pitching. Bauers is in the lineup Wednesday against Toronto righty Chris Bassitt, but he was on the bench for two of the Brewers' previous three matchups with right-handers.

Chourio belted a three-run shot during Milwaukee's four-run second inning. It was his first long ball since May 15, snapping a 12-game drought. During that stretch, he was 6-for-36 (.167) with just two extra-base hits. The highly touted prospect is still trying to find his footing at the MLB level; he's slashing .214/.257/.345 with 10 extra-base hits and a 10:49 BB:K through 52 games.

Chourio was on the bench for a stretch of four straight games from last Wednesday through Saturday, but he's now picked up starts in each of the subsequent four contests. Though he's reached base only twice over his last nine contests and carries a weak .579 OPS for the season into Wednesday's game, Chourio could nonetheless continue to see near-everyday playing time while Jake Bauers sees less time in the corner outfield and fills in at first base for the injured Rhys Hoskins (hamstring). Additionally, the struggling Blake Perkins -- who sat against right-handed starting pitchers both of the previous two days -- seems to have moved into more of a fourth-outfielder role of late.
