Astros' Josh Hader: Secures save Monday
Hader threw a scoreless inning and earned a save against the Rays on Monday.
Hader had to deal with the speedy Chandler Simpson on base after he reached via catcher's interference to start the frame. Hader was able to retire the next three batters in order to close out the 4-3 victory. He's now converted each of his 12 save chances this season and lowered his ERA to 1.71 across 21 innings. Monday was Hader's first appearance without recording a strikeout since April 19.

Astros' Josh Hader: Secures 11th save
Hader earned the save in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Rangers, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.
Hader faced the bottom of the Rangers' lineup and retired them in order to remain a perfect 11-for-11 in save chances this season. The southpaw has allowed runs in just two of his past 10 appearances, both coming in non-save situations. On the year, he owns a 1.80 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 29:5 K:BB across 20 innings.

Hader picked up the save in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Royals after allowing one walk in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out one.

Hader gave up one hit in a scoreless ninth inning to pick up a save in Friday's 3-0 win over Cincinnati. He struck out three without walking a batter.
After allowing a one-out double to Tyler Stephenson, Hader retired Rece Hinds and Santiago Espinal on strikes to pick up his first save since late April. With a 1.59 ERA and 25:4 K:BB through 17 innings, the 31-year-old southpaw is still clearly one of the most dominant relievers in the game.

Hader entered the game in the ninth inning with Houston up 6-2. He got the first two outs without incident, but then served up a double and a two-run home run. These were the first earned runs Hader has surrendered since Opening Day, and he owns a stellar 20:3 K:BB across 15 frames.

Hader earned a save against the Tigers on Monday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters in a scoreless inning of work.
Hader inherited a three-run lead in the ninth frame and went right after each batter he faced, throwing 12 of his 14 total pitches for strikes. The veteran closer did give up a two-out double, but that proved to be a minor inconvenience as Hader wrapped up his eighth save in eight chances. After posting a disappointing 3.80 ERA last season, Hader has been dominant so far in 2025, allowing just one run on seven hits while registering a 19:3 K:BB over 14 innings covering 12 appearances.

Astros' Josh Hader: Escapes with seventh save
Hader allowed one hit and one walk in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Blue Jays. He struck out two batters.
Hader put himself in a bit of hot water when he gave up a walk and a double, but he bounced back to fan Alejandro Kirk before getting Myles Straw to fly out to center field to close out Wednesday's contest. He needed 23 pitches (16 strikes) to get through the ninth inning, but with an off-day Thursday the 31-year-old southpaw should be available for Friday's series opener against the Royals. Hader has not yielded a run since Opening Day against the Mets and boasts a 0.69 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB over 13 innings.

Hader failed to record a strikeout for just the second time this season, but he still threw 11 of his 15 pitches for strikes en route to his sixth save in as many chances this year. Hader was tasked with keeping the game tied at 7-7 in the bottom of the ninth inning, setting the Twins down in order, including a strikeout. He then returned to the mound for the bottom of the 10th after Houston took a 9-7 lead in the top of the frame and worked around the inherited runner at second to secure his first win of the year. Hader has now allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out six batters over five innings in four appearances out of the bullpen this season.

Hader is now 3-for-3 in save opportunities to start the year -- he's allowed one run while striking out three over three innings. Hader was shaky in his first save opportunity Opening Day, and he got off on the wrong foot Saturday when he walked Juan Soto on six pitches. Hader was able to steady himself by getting Pete Alonso to pop out on the first pitch, and the southpaw closer was able to cruise through the final two batters to earn his second save of the season. Hader is already on track to log a fifth consecutive 30-save season, and he'll look to earn his third of the year during the upcoming three-game home series against the Giants starting Monday.

Hader earned the save Thursday after giving up one run on two hits and one walk in the ninth inning to close out a 3-1 win against the Mets. He struck out two.
Entering the ninth inning up three runs, Hader found himself in immediate trouble after giving up back-to-back singles before allowing a walk to load up the bases. He steadied himself by punching out Hayden Senger, and after giving up a sacrifice fly to Francisco Lindor, Hader managed to close things out by striking out Juan Soto. It took Hader 35 pitches to come away with the Opening Day save, which will affect his availability out of the bullpen Friday and potentially Saturday.
