  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Battling hamstring injury

Seager was removed from Tuesday's game against the Athletics due to right hamstring tightness, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning Newsreports.

Texas was up 8-2 when Seager left the game, so it's possible the team's decision to pull him was simply precautionary, but the Rangers should provide some clarity sometime in the near future. If the 30-year-old ends up needing to miss time, Josh Smith would likely pick up some reps at shortstop.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Socks fourth homer in win

Seager went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Angels.

Seager socked a 427-foot blast into deep center field in the seventh inning, giving the Rangers an insurance run to put the team ahead 5-3. The star shortstop is off to a strong start at the dish in 2025, slashing .306/.368/.516 with four round trippers, one double, six RBI and six runs scored through 62 at-bats (17 games). Seager now has multiple hits in three straight contests.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Homers twice in win

Seager went 2-for-5 with a pair of solo home runs in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Cubs.

Seager opened the scoring with a first-inning homer off Shota Imanaga before adding a second long ball off Nate Pearson in the seventh, extending the Rangers' lead to 6-1. Seager looks to be heating up at the plate -- he now has back-to-back two-hit games after going 5-for-31 (.161) with just one homer in his first nine contests this year.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Swats first homer of 2025

Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Rays.

Seager pushed the Rangers ahead in the sixth with a solo shot to right for his first home run and first extra base hit of the year. The lefty slugger has just two hits over his last 16 at-bats and a .179 batting average in the early going.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Getting breather Wednesday

Seager is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game in Cincinnati.

Seager is receiving a routine day off for Wednesday's afternoon contest. The Rangers are going with Josh Smith at shortstop and Ezequiel Duran at third base in the series finale.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Still managing calf issue

Seager is still dealing with some lingering calf soreness, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Seager's calf issue first popped up late in spring training and he has been playing through nagging soreness. The 30-year-old has received two days off so far -- including Wednesday -- and Grant suspects Seager will continue to sit out day games after night games. Seager is just 3-for-17 with zero extra-base hits in the early going this season, and it's possible the calf has contributed to the slow start.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Receiving Sunday off

Seager is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox.

Seager went 3-for-12 with a run and three strikeouts over the first three games of the series, and he'll sit for Sunday's finale. Jonathan Ornelas, who was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock, will start at shortstop and bat eighth.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Plays field Friday

Seager started at shortstop and went 1-for-4 in Friday's 4-1 win over the Red Sox.

Seager was held out of the field and instead served as the designated hitter in Thursday's opener due to a recent calf issue. The Rangers exercised caution with the shortstop, whose calf injury was always considered minor.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Gets nod at DH in opener

Seager (calf) will start at designated hitter and will bat second in Thursday's season opener versus the Red Sox.

Though Seager's availability for Opening Day wasn't in much doubt after he took live batting practice Wednesday without incident, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy was unsure whether the five-time All-Star would be able to play shortstop Thursday while he manages a sore calf. Per Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com, Seager was able to do some light running in the outfield earlier Thursday, but the Rangers ultimately chose to exercise some caution by deploying him in a non-defensive role in the first game of the season. Josh Smith will draw the start at shortstop in the opener, but Seager could resume playing in the infield at some point this weekend.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Takes live BP, expected to play

Seager (calf) took live batting practice Wednesday and is expected to be ready for Thursday's opener versus the Red Sox, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Seager was held out of the Rangers' final three exhibition contests because of a sore calf, but he doesn't seem to be in any danger of missing Opening Day. The shortstop has reached the 30-homer mark in all three regular seasons with Texas.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Should be ready for Opening Day

Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said Tuesday that he's confident that Seager (calf) will be in the lineup for Thursday's season opener versus the Red Sox, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Seager will conclude spring training having missed the Rangers' final three games due to calf soreness, but both Young and manager Bruce Bochy have downplayed concerns about the shortstop's health heading into Opening Day. That said, even if Seager is cleared to start Thursday, it wouldn't be surprising if he received a day off at some point during the season-opening four-game series if the calf issue continues to linger.

  • Rangers' Corey Seager: Out Monday with sore calf

Seager is out of the lineup for Monday's exhibition game against the Royals due to a sore calf, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.

Manager Bruce Bochy said the calf issue is nothing serious, but Seager's absence from a lineup that includes most of the Rangers' projected starters nonetheless raises some concern. Seager could be back in action for Tuesday's exhibition finale against the Royals, but if not, his status will need to monitored leading up to Thursday's season opener versus the Red Sox.
