  • Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Strikes out 10 in win

Taillon (4-3) earned the win against the Mets on Saturday, allowing one run on six hits and no walks with 10 strikeouts over seven innings.

Taillon was excellent Saturday, with a solo home run by Francisco Alvarez in the fifth inning being his only blemish. He generated an impressive 15 swinging strikes on 93 pitches and notched a season-high 10 punchouts. Taillon has logged three consecutive quality starts and now owns a 2.90 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 53:16 K:BB over 68.1 innings this season. The 32-year-old lines up for a start against the Giants next week.

  • Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Garners no run support

Taillon (3-3) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings against the Cardinals. He struck out three.

Taillon scattered baserunners throughout, completing only a single 1-2-3 inning, but was able to limit the damage with the only runs coming on a second-inning two-run homer by Pedro Pages. However, Taillon was given no run support and left the game after six still facing that same two-run deficit. It was the second consecutive quality start for Taillon, who has allowed just two runs in 12 innings over those two starts after having allowed 14 runs over 21.1 innings in his previous four. He'll look to keep things rolling the next time he toes the rubber, which is likely to be next weekend when the Mets roll into the friendly confines of Wrigley Field.

  • Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Rebounds in no-decision

Taillon didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Rays, allowing four hits and a walk over six scoreless innings. He struck out five.

Taillon was excellent Tuesday, delivering his second scoreless outing of the year, though the Cubs bullpen couldn't get him a win as Hector Neris coughed up four runs in the ninth in a 5-2 defeat. Still, it was a nice bounce-back effort from Taillon after he allowed five runs on 10 hits in a loss to the White Sox in his last outing. Overall, the 32-year-old right-hander is 3-2 with a 3.09 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP and 40:14 K:BB across 10 starts (55.1 innings). Taillon's currently scheduled to face the Cardinals at home in his next start.

  • Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Yields five runs

Taillon allowed five runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings in a no-decision versus the White Sox.

Taillon gave up a leadoff home run to Corey Julks and then surrendered four more runs in the fourth inning. The Cubs were able to cover the damage for Taillon, allowing him to escape with a third straight no-decision. The right-hander has given up at least three runs in his last four starts and now has a 3.47 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 35:13 K:BB over 49.1 innings through nine outings on the year. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Rays.

  • Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Quality start in no-decision

Taillon didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Brewers, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out four.

All three of Milwaukee's runs off Taillon came in the third inning, including a pair on three consecutive two-out hits. While the Cubs bullpen couldn't close out a win, it was the third quality start for Taillon this year -- he failed to make it through six innings in his previous three outings, posting a 5.02 ERA in that span. Overall, the 32-year-old right-hander is 3-2 with a 2.84 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 29:12 K:BB through his first eight starts (44.1 innings). Taillon's tentatively slated for a home matchup with the White Sox in his next outing.

  • Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Just shy of quality start

Taillon allowed three runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out three over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Cardinals on Saturday.

Taillon fell one out shy of a quality start, though he exited the game at 105 pitches (68 strikes) after giving up an RBI double to Masyn Winn in the sixth inning. This was an improvement on Taillon's last two starts -- he didn't complete five innings in either of those games. The right-hander is at a 2.58 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 25:11 K:BB through 38.1 innings over seven starts this season, but his 4.69 FIP and .238 BABIP suggest he's enjoyed good luck so far, especially earlier in the season. He's projected for a road start versus the Brewers in his next outing.

  • Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Loses to former team

Taillon (3-2) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Pirates.

Taillon was a bit inefficient, throwing 55 of 92 pitches for strikes. This was the second start in a row where he failed to complete five innings, and it's the third time in a row he's walked multiple batters. The right-hander is now at a 2.20 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 22:10 K:BB through 32.2 innings over six starts, though his strong April has given way to a shakier May following a bout with back stiffness. Taillon is tentatively projected to make his next start on the road in St. Louis.
