  • Brock Stewart RP | MIN

Twins' Brock Stewart: Shifts to 60-day IL

The Twins transferred Stewart (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

The right-hander has been on the shelf with shoulder tendinitis since early May, so the move to the 60-day IL won't affect his return timeline. Stewart has progressed to facing live batters this week and could soon begin a rehab assignment.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Lands on IL with adductor strain

The Twins placed Lewis on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right adductor strain.

The 25-year-old was removed from Tuesday's game against the Detroit due to left groin tightness, but it's now being reported as a right adductor injury. According to Dan Hayes of The Athletic, Lewis is dealing with a Grade 2 strain and will be sidelined through the All-Star break before being reevaluated. Even in a best-case scenario, he'll likely miss some time beyond that while building back up to game readiness. Prospect Brooks Lee was called up in a corresponding move and should take over as Minnesota's primary third baseman while Lewis is out.

  • Yimi Garcia RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Requires rehab stint

Garcia (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday and will need at least one minor-league rehab appearance before being activated, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

If all goes well, Garcia would be sent out for a rehab assignment following Wednesday's bullpen session. While it's unclear exactly how many appearances he'll need in the minors, manager John Schneider indicated Garcia would need more than one outing before rejoining the active roster. Once he's healthy, Garcia could take over closing duties considering Jordan Romano (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for at least six weeks.

  • Jordan Romano RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: Undergoes elbow surgery

Romano underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow Tuesday to repair an impingement and will be shut down from throwing for at least six weeks, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

The 31-year-old has been unavailable due to elbow issues since late May, and it's now unclear whether he'll be able to pitch again this year. Romano missed the first couple weeks of the season with elbow problems and never looked himself in the six weeks he was available with a 6.59 ERA in 15 appearances. Chad Green has stepped up as Toronto's closer with Yimi Garcia (elbow) also on the injured list.

  • Rangers' Robbie Grossman: Idle again

Grossman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against San Diego.

Grossman is absent from the Rangers starting lineup for a second straight night, with Adolis Garcia filling in at DH while Travis Jankowski plays right field. Grossman has just two hits in his last 15 at-bats.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: On bench again

Seager (wrist) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against San Diego.

Seager will be held out of the starting lineup for a third straight contest despite having his X-rays come back negative Monday. Josh Smith will bat second and play shortstop Wednesday.

  • Astros' Jon Singleton: Absent from starting nine

Singleton is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Toronto, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Singleton had started in four straight games at first base, but he'll yield to Grae Kessinger on Wednesday. Since Jose Abreu was released June 14, Singleton is batting .324 with a homer, four runs scored and four RBI.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Returning to leadoff spot

Springer is batting leadoff as the designated hitter for Wednesday's game against the Astros, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Springer was moved out of his customary leadoff spot in early May and had a .188/.278/.281 slash line through 71 games this season, but his bat has come alive over the past week. The veteran outfielder is in the midst of a seven-game hit streak and has gone 12-for-24 with two doubles, four homers, 12 RBI and five runs during that span. It remains to be seen if he can translate the hot stretch into a sustained turnaround, but it was apparently enough for manager John Schneider to give Springer another opportunity atop the lineup.

  • Justin Turner DH | TOR

Blue Jays' Justin Turner: Heading to bench Wednesday

Turner is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Turner started the previous nine games and will receive a day off after going 10-for-27 with two doubles, 11 walks, five RBI and four runs during that stretch. George Springer will serve as the designated hitter while Addison Barger starts in right field.

  • Jon Berti 3B | NYY

Yankees' Jon Berti: Fields grounders Wednesday

Berti (calf) took grounders on the field at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, Max Goodman of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

While no date for a rehab assignment has been set, Berti appears close to being cleared for game action. The veteran utility player has been shelved since late May with a high-grade left calf strain.
