  • C.J. Abrams SS | WAS

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Hits leadoff homer Saturday

Abrams went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double, a walk, two total runs and two total RBI in an 8-1 win against the Rays on Saturday.

Abrams didn't wait long to make his presence felt, swatting a 396-foot homer to lead off the contest. It was the 13th long ball of the campaign for the shortstop, and he's well on pace to surpass the 18 home runs he hit during his first full big-league season last year. Abrams hasn't been as successful as a runner this season -- he's just 13-for-22 in stolen-base attempts after going 47-for-51 in 2023 -- but he's otherwise shown growth in nearly every offensive category, slashing .278/.334/.498 with 20 doubles, five triples, 50 runs and 42 RBI through 328 plate appearances.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Steals 40th bag in win

De La Cruz went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Saturday's 9-4 win over the Cardinals.

De La Cruz hit an RBI double in the third inning and followed it up with his 40th steal of the season. He then tripled and scored in a six-run fifth frame for the Reds. After going eight games without a steal, the 22-year-old has now swiped a bag in three consecutive contests and continues to lead the league in the category. He did strike out three times to bring his league-leading season total to 110 but is still hitting a solid .255 with 14 home runs, 37 RBI and 55 runs scored over 355 plate appearances.

  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Idle Saturday

Perdomo isn't in the Diamondbacks' lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics.

The switch-hitting Perdomo has posted just a .476 OPS against southpaws since being activated off the injured list June 11, so he'll get a day off against left-hander Hogan Harris. Kevin Newman will enter the lineup as Arizona's shortstop and bat eighth.

  • Oneil Cruz SS | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: On bench against lefty

Cruz isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's game versus Atlanta.

Cruz and his .351 OPS against left-handed pitchers will retreat to the dugout Saturday as the Pirates prepare to face southpaw Max Fried. Jared Triolo will fill in as Pittsburgh's shortstop and bat seventh.

  • Vidal Brujan SS | MIA

    Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Scratched Saturday

Brujan was scratched from the Marlins' lineup ahead of Saturday's game versus Philadelphia, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The Marlins have not yet provided a reason for Brujan's removal from the lineup, but the team should offer some clarity in the near future. In the meantime, Jake Burger will shift to third base for Brujan while Josh Bell moves to first, allowing Jesus Sanchez to enter the lineup as Miami's DH.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Swipes 14th bag

Lindor went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 7-2 win over the Astros.

The veteran shortstop has flipped the switch in the second half of June. Lindor has racked up three straight multi-hit performances, and over the last 11 contests he's batting a scorching .370 (17-for-46) with two of his 13 homers and four of his 14 steals on the season along with seven doubles, eight RBI and 12 runs.

  • Brett Wisely SS | SF

Giants' Brett Wisely: Comes up clutch

Wisely went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-3 win over the Dodgers.

Wisely's third homer of the year was a walk-off blast against Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen. Since June 10, Wisely has gone 17-for-55 (.309) with two homers and seven RBI across 14 contests. He's at a .304/.333/.461 slash line with three homers, 14 RBI, 13 runs scored, one stolen base and seven doubles over 108 plate appearances this season. While the Giants have valued Wisely for his defensive versatility, he has most often been stuck in a platoon at shortstop. That could change after second baseman Thairo Estrada (wrist) went on the injured list Friday, though it's also possible Wisely continues to sit against southpaws in favor of Tyler Fitzgerald during Estrada's absence.

  • Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald: Back with Giants

The Giants recalled Fitzgerald from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

With Thairo Estrada (wrist) headed for the injured list, Fitzgerald will return to San Francisco in order to give the Giants some depth in the infield, though he is also capable of playing in the outfield. The 26-year-old has slashed .273/.333/.409 across 72 plate appearances in the majors and could share reps with Nick Ahmed until Estrada returns.

  • Masyn Winn SS | STL

Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Getting day off

Winn is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Reds, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Winn will step out of the starting nine for the first time since June 18, giving way to Brandon Crawford at shortstop Friday. Since the start of June, Winn is batting 25-for-97 (.258) with two homers and 16 runs.

  • Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Triples, swipes bag in win

De La Cruz went 3-for-5 with an RBI triple, a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's win over St. Louis.

The star shortstop kicked things off for Cincinnati with an RBI triple in the first inning to score Jonathan India. De la Cruz would then add another two singles in the contest, giving him his fifth three-hit performance this month and third in his last six games. Over that latter stretch he's batting .464 (13-for-28) with two homers, four RBI and seven runs scored. He also swiped his league-leading 38th bag Thursday after failing to record a steal over his previous eight games.
