    San Jose acquired Walman and a 2024 second-round pick from Detroit on Tuesday in exchange for future considerations.

    Walman produced 12 goals, 21 points, 108 shots on net and 151 blocked shots in 63 games during the 2023-24 campaign. The 28-year-old defender has two more seasons left on his three-year, $10.2 million contract. As a member of the Sharks, Walman could occupy a top-four role and see power-play time.

  • Sharks' Barclay Goodrow: Claimed off waivers

    Goodrow was claimed off waivers by the Sharks from the Rangers on Wednesday, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic.

    Goodrow recorded 33 points in 2021-22 and 31 points in 2022-23, but he declined this campaign to four goals and 12 points across 80 regular-season appearances. The 31-year-old was still a physical presence, though, recording 78 PIM and 171 hits. He also stepped up in the 2024 playoffs, supplying six goals, eight points, 12 PIM, 41 hits and 29 blocks in 16 outings. He figures to serve in a third-line capacity for San Jose, which is the franchise where he made his NHL debut back in 2014. The Sharks will also be taking the final three seasons of his six-year, $21.85 million contract.

  • Sharks' Ty Dellandrea: Shipped to Sharks

    Dellandrea was acquired by the Sharks from the Stars on Wednesday in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick.

    Dellandrea had two goals, nine points, 23 PIM and 63 hits in 42 regular-season appearances with Dallas in 2023-24. The 23-year-old should be in the conversation for a bottom-six spot with San Jose going into training camp. However, the Sharks first need to re-sign Dellandrea, who completed his one-year, $900,000 contract and is set to become a restricted free agent in July.

    Smith put together a fantastic freshman campaign with Boston College this season, racking up 25 goals and 46 assists in 41 appearances for the Eagles. Rather than returning for another year, the 19-year-old center will make the jump to the professional ranks ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. Selected by the organization with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, Smith figures to enter the NHL immediately and should be in contention for a top-six role next year.

    Cagnoni agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with San Jose on Wednesday.

    Cagnoni set new personal bests in goals (18), assists (72) and points (90) in 65 regular-season games for WHL Portland this season before adding another 13 points in 13 postseason contests. While the 19-year-old blueliner likely faces an uphill battle, his offensive upside could see him force his way on to the Sharks' 23-man roster for the Opening Night of the 2024-25 campaign.

    Couture (groin) is feeling better and hopes to resume skating in July, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.

    Romanov made 14 saves in relief of Devin Cooley in a 5-1 loss to Calgary on Thursday. Cooley was credited with the defeat.

    Romanov's come on in relief of Cooley in each of San Jose's last two games, allowing just one goal on 31 shots in his first two NHL appearances. It's an encouraging, albeit unconventional start to the 24-year-old netminder's NHL career. Romanov has gone 9-9-8 with a .904 save percentage with AHL San Jose since coming over from the KHL prior to the season.

  • Sharks' Devin Cooley: Pulled again in finale

    Cooley allowed five goals on 23 shots before being pulled in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Flames. He was credited with the defeat.

    Cooley surrendered two goals in the opening period and another three in the first seven minutes of the second before the 26-year-old netminder was replaced by Georgi Romanov for a second straight game. It was a tough finish to the year for Cooley, who allowed 13 goals on 45 shots in his final two outings. He'll finish the campaign with a 2-3-1 record, an .870 save percentage and a 4.98 GAA.
